I got memed into being a gym rat for over a year and while it had some nice results, it felt fucking useless in the end. I didn't do many squats either, kinda hurt my knees.
I've been training Muay Thai for the same time after a long break and somehow my legs/ass are fucking huge with zero lifting -and- I can finally murder someone with those improved muscles.
Don't fall for the gym meme, go hard on combat sports and maybe lift some weights on the weekends for fun.

Same here. Machines are useless. Isometrics and free weights at home have gotten me more results.
