total war

Kohan series. Literally anti-micro.

redpill me on Total War series, which game is the best?

They are Billions
but thats strictly PvE so..

Supreme Commander/Total annihilation.

Macro wins every time.

Starcraft but you have to play as Terran

Literally every rts, the fast clicks are there to carry out a startegy not to trigger you towerhugging babies.

All Total War games other than Shogun are shit.

The R in RTS stands for Real Time because it's a game for people who want real time to matter in the gameplay. You don't have to play this category of game. There are strategy games where times don't matter at all, where time is perfectly frozen until you make your move. Perhaps that is the category of games that you want?

Except there isn’t much strategy or planning required in battles. And majority of games are decided on Micro with Cav and other units getting around the enemy in field battles

Shogun 2 is the best. I like 3kingdoms because of the romance mode but it’s not as cool as a setting. For older, Rome and Med 2.

unironically chess

You just posted it

Yeah this 100%, huge importance on tactical and strategic decisions and while micro can be important in certain aspect (air battles) the game doesn't rely on it

wrong, in starcraft if you are capable of a certain threshold of micro it literally doesn't matter what you or your opponent builds, you just win in the first 4 minutes

Hearts of Iron series I guess

none. The camera is fucking horrible, optimalization is crap and the world map is boring and ugly. You could argue the essence is the combat and multiplayer, but it doesn't fix the camera.

Bullshit. A good example here are actually starcraft (either 1 or 2, whatever) and warcraft 3. Warcraft 3 is much slower phase, it's still creates much room for microing or whatever but the difference in phase makes it more approachable for normal people. Also I know I just shat on TW series but it has some good ideas, like troops reacting with slight delay and having to gain momentum or squads "glueing" to the enemies when in combat which means that if you engage from a bad angle you are pretty much done for, unlike starcraft where you can retreat when you please and refill your supplie cap in the matter of literal seconds.

Don't forget Planetary Annihilation: Titans, the game in this ilk that is actually current.

>Hearts of Iron series I guess
nigga do you even play paradox games?
