Overrated game. I liked the blackjack minigame more than the actual game
Internally Capcom sees it as one of the worst blunders and games they've ever made. It's not like Okami, where they realize it's a good game that just didn't sell more. They literally think it's garbage. This is the viewpoint of both Capcom Japan and USA.

It's fun as fuck, though. I expected it to be a meme when I got it, but it turned out to be a blast. It's just it's own thing, there's no other game like it, so people shit on it because they can't adapt.

Instead of Gene you play as a new character with god legs, and they go around roundhouse kicking enemies to death. They'd be able to wallrun, vault over enemies, and do automatic jumps off ledges like in Zelda but the game would still be pretty ground-based. This new character would also have access to a plethora of dynamic grapple and throw moves. Honestly I don't know why grappling is so underrepresented in so-called cuhrayzee games.
Fix the camera and add gore
the camera is perfect, if you make it like a dmc it will need a lock on and it sucks, if you can move the camera freely you would to move the camera pointing anywhere else and you would need to fix it all the time making it not so diferent from what we have now. beside there's no space in the controller for the camera, right analogue is for dodging.
why not just have a shoulder button that, when held down, makes the right stick do dodges rather than control the camera? this button could also be used to change the function of the face buttons so you could fit more attacks...

Make it about gene's quest to find and kill Alexander the great because he gets so fucking annoyed at the mobs telling him he's not Alexander. Side quest of raising a family with Olivia and getting her home supplies. Keeping all the humor and gameplay style from the original but adding in more 3 orb and even 4 orb moves.

pretty sure everyone who ever thought that was a good idea moved to platinum games, MGR and bayo1&2 are rife with that shit
it will still have the dmc problem, and every button except analog button are used, so turning around should be right analog button. the only real "improvement" I could think of would moving the camera back giving more vision.
