How is Square currently getting away with marketing this game as The Final Fantasy VII Remake to get more sales? It's the Final Fantasy VII Remake part 1, why aren't gaming journalists talking about this: an actual issue? They haven't even mentioned part 2, not how many parts in total there will be, if the game is coming out any time soon or if it's even in development. They seem to be legitimately attempting to trick a lot of consumers into buying this game thinking it's the full game in order to get them on the hook for part 2. Seems incredibly disingenous, and I think it will be the straw that breaks the camels back for many people when they hit the end of Midgar and the credits roll. I know modern Square Enix is scummy but this is truly a new low and basically a scam. Genuinely can't believe they're doing it or that they are getting away with it but we immediately get articles everywhere about feminine penis' in Cyberpunk, what the actual fuck is gaming journalism? Does one single person who actually plays games work for any publication?

It'll be worthwhile in a decade or so when it's the full FFVII complete all pieced together seamlessly but this project is way too fucking big and they got in over their heads.
>why aren't gaming journalists talking about this: an actual issue?
They did?
When Squeenix annouced that the game would be episodical like a year ago?
There was absolutely no resaon for them to ditch the original pacing other than complete greed. There is no need for Midgar to be a 40 hour game, it will just result in a bunch of crisis core tier story additions that ruin the game, such as those black ghosts around Aerith
>How is Square currently getting away with marketing this game as The Final Fantasy VII Remake to get more sales? It's the Final Fantasy VII Remake part 1
People will buy it regardless.
>summon Materia
>in Midgard
Read the thread before replying next time guy
Read the thread before replying. I'm asking how this isn't false advertisement, it's not a remake of Final Fantasy VII at all. They need to change the name. The average consumer doesn't check online for translated japanese dev interviews from over 2 years ago, they are just going to see the marketing and think it's the full game.
The average consumer probably never played enough to go outside Midgar anyway.
Why are you shilling for Jew-Enix so hard?
How much do you think you'll pay for Knights of the Round?
Why do you care anyways? Don't buy it then, this product isn't for you anyway, it's for the retards that think FFVII is the best thing ever and are willing to pay in gold to revisit it in HD GRAPHIX.
But each part is a full game. So it's like playing 13-1, how is this so hard to understand?? Development is taking a long time because they're putting everything into these games. You act like they're giving you disc 1 for $60
No, it's like if they remade XIII but only 1/4 of the actual game and advertised it like it's a full remake...
No it's not you retard
You are an actual shill.
How many parts of FFVII are there? I’ve never played it before
3 CDs on the PS1
How did Nintendo get away with marketing BoTW as a stand alone game when part 2 is currently in development? They should have to change the name to BoTW part 1 so people know it is not the complete game.
No one knows besides square how they'll even do it, the trailers already shown that the midgar portion is going to be a lot different than it was on the original (Jessie riding with Cloud on the motorbike chase, Sephiroth already appearing)
Wow I didn’t know it was that big of a game
1. The game on ps1 however was split onto 3 discs, although this was only because of all the space the cutscenes take up. All the actual game content is on each disc, e.g all the enemies, bosses, map areas and everything else that wasn't a cgi cutscene were all stored on each disc, each disc was capable of running the full game, the only thing different about the 3 discs is what cutscenes are on them, this is proven because you can run the full game from the wrong disc, it will just constantly play the wrong cgi cutscenes. People saying 'the original was 3 parts' are just the naive retards.
I don't care if it's 4 part like .hack, just don't lock things behind DLC.
Fuck them if I have to pay extra for Materia and weapons.
?
>3 shekels have been deposited to your bank account
What fucking nonsense. I bet you complain about everything in life
Yeah bro paying $60 multiple times for a product that could take 10 years and still not be done is great!
BoTW was a complete game
Then don't buy it until it's done? No one's holding a gun to your head.
Modern day FF fans are fucking idiots who will happily let SE get away with anything, and gaming "journalists" aren't going to call out a major publisher on their scummy bullshit during E3. They're too busy sucking them off.
No it is not. Nintendo just announced part 2 in development. Nothing was advertised on the BoTW part 1 about being part 1.
If I pre-order the standard do I get the cactus?
Just stop, OP is too much of a retard to get this.
No he's just not retarded.
>I'm asking how this isn't false advertisement, it's not a remake of Final Fantasy VII at all.
This is legal. This can theoretically be a remake of FF7 that cut out the later portions of the original game. This is the new vision. It's not false advertisement. That being said it is retarded.
0/10
Kek you absolute apologist shill
So I I pre-ordered pic related but I'm thinking of cancelling it and just getting the regular deluxe edition because:
>there's probably going to be a special edition this expensive for every part. While I can pay for all them it'll be incredibly ridiculous once it all adds up
>by the end the game will likely be on ps5, and I'd rather not have the unga bunga special edition on ps4 when a superior ps5 version exists
>there will likely be a big collection with everything once every part is out and that'll be more worthwhile to spend big bucks on.
The final part will be out in 2027. Screenshot this.
Yeah been thinking the same
Fuck everything about this game
I'm putting money down on it being completely abandoned, they basicalyl just started remaking the game and realised it was too hard so they thought, lets just set the full game in the easiest setting to create. Also each sequel will sell less than the previous one, so either it wont get finshed or it will take forever to get finished because they will always prioritise the product with the highest chance of sales (the only reason we are getting ff7r) once the first part gets lukewarm reception part 2 will flop in comparision and there will be no drive to make part 3. This full thing is going to be a trainwreck. Screenshot this also.
Do we know how many parts they are splitting it into?
>likely be on ps5
Kek, why is nobody reading between the lines that this series is going to take over 20 years to end? It took them 5 years to make Midgar, they have confirmed in interviews in the last 24 hours that they don't know how many parts there will be or when they will be finished, indicating that very little to no work has been done on anything outisde Midgar which was only originally the first 3-4 hours of a 30-40 hour game.
Even they don't know. They said so a couple days ago.
Also factor in that Sqaure enix only cares about money so has to keep the cycles going for all their other series or they will drop profit, so that means them making full other games possibly several between making parts of this game. If they get shit for doing that it will just result in an even worse game because they would no doubt push off one of the parts to a Bteam/external dev. They just don't have time to deliver this, they're basically advrtising the first part and trying to make as much money as possible from it before the ship sinks.
>Devoted super fans will die while waiting between parts of this disaster
>I'm putting money down on it being completely abandoned
Then you're a moron and I would gladly take your money, square is going to make hand over fist with this.
>why aren't gaming journalists talking about this: an actual issue?
But they are tho.
That's fucking retarded
I didn't even know it was still in parts until this thread. I assumed that they scrapped that idea since it wasn't specified in the title or trailer
>part 2 will flop
fuckin retard
Please respond
>10 skekels have been deposited into your account
Yeah dude I'm sure the second gaem will sell even better after part 1 disappoints and alienates everyone like XV!. Cope tranny.
Part 2 won't flop if it doesn't ever release.
Its squenix we talking about here
What if there is no part 2. What if they finish the game through free DLC updates.
That would justify the game's box being titled Final Fantasy VII Remake over time.
They better not pull any FFXV Episode shit.
They're going to have 20 DLCs for part 1 alone, there is no reason to get hyped for this game, they've already locked 2 summons out so that only preorderers of the deluxe or retard edition get them already showing that they are indeed willing to sink to that level
He brings up a good point about the next parts though, the first part would always end up being the high watermark for sales.
The figurine looks awful.
They aren't doing that. They've been very transparent that it's Midgar only
You know what I just realized? TotalBuscuit was still around when the last FF7R trailer came out in December 2015, but he couldn't see it as it is now. That's pretty sad.
which is roughly 1/4 of the games 20 hour story
The game will be 25 hours maximum, just like KH3 and FFXV. They always double the amount of playtime in interviews; it's their standard protocol.
How is calling it Final Fantasy Remake being very transparent you retard. If it was transparent they would call it FF7R Part 1 or Midgar remake but then they couldn't trick people into purchasing a chopped up episodic frankenstein cross-generational product.
The next game will be called FFVII-2.
lolno. Not unless you're going out of your way to speedrun. And who's to say that FF7R will just be exactly the same length as the original? They can expand upon Midgar and make it a 40 to 50 hour experience on its own.
Because everybody knows that it's part one. Because you and I are talking about it right now. It's not like some insider who works at Squeenix leaked this.
What a fucking bullshit image, the game takes 20-25 hours.
Please lower the fucking price. It's not even a full fucking remake.
They didn't said "part one" because if it sells like shit there won't be a "part two"
Are you retarded?
Yeah, I skip all the dialogues and cutscenes too.
Then call it Final Fantasy VII Midgar or something
The last disc is really just to hold the long ass ending FMV, those things ate a lot of space on a shitty 700 megabyte CD.
All three discs contain different cutscenes, the actual game content is identical on all three discs. It's like 3 CDs of the same game.
Anyone else feel like they are just going to be completely burned out by part 3? Is it just going to be the same game each time or a complete remake every time considering the wait beween parts is likely to be 4-6 years each? I can't see how they can possibly finish the game as a series after setting such a slow pace, how long will the rest of the shit be stretched out for if they made a 3 hour tutorial section people rush through when they play the actual game into a full game? I think only being in Midgar will put off a lot of people, myself included, will be claustrophobic too. For the past 4 years I'd been so bored of all the trailers and had been patiently waiting to see the beautiful world outside the bland, green and easy to develop midgar, i wanted to see how Square handled the open world and towns, but now it's plain obvious they just chickened out and made up excuses to flesh out the easy to design part of the game for 40 hours kek. What a nightmare. All of the best parts of the game happen way after part 1 will end.
You must be a really stupid fuck if it took you more than 30 hours to complete the story and talk to every single npc and go into every building, get every treasure etc. The game is very short.
No, because each episode is gonna be like 2 years apart from each other.
You don't watch the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy in one sitting.
Takes me 10 hours to complete temple of the ancients and that's on a completionist run where I collect every item and talk to every npc multiple times and thats the halfway point of the game.
That's what I mean, the game wasn't 2 discs because they couldn't fit the ending FMVs on disc 2.
He’s telling the truth.
So you really think that Square is going to drop every other project to solely work on these games? Fat chance. Also it took them 5 years to make just Midgar, the easiest part of the full game to recreate, how do you think they will pump out the open world parts with drastically different locales quicker than midgar?
I didn't say he wasn't. He did however try to deflect and draw attention away from Squares shady business practises by saying 'it doesnt matter' which is what a shill does.
The same way BotW2 will be out by 2021. It's not like they have to start every single episode from scratch. They have the assets, so the hard, time-consuming part is over.
>because they couldn't fit the ending FMVs on disc 2.
Well not just the ending. Every FMV is stupidly large and all three discs contain a different assortment of FMVs. If you force boot disc 2 or 3 with a bombing mission save you'll be able to play through the whole game exactly the same as in disc 1 but the wrong FMVs will play.
>The same way BotW2 will be out by 2021.
Kek that "sequel" is coming next year. Especially if it still takes place in Hyrule. It's an overglorified DLC pack.
That's pretty cool actually.
I did say BY 2021. I did say that. Could be 2021, could be sooner.
I'm just pulling your dick user
That's gay
Are you kidding me? Game is 10-15 hours tops. You fucking suck if you can't manage to beat it in 10 hours.
I can beat it in around that time yeah, we were talking about how long it takes your average player which is about 20-30 hours. user posted a retarded image propagating that FF7 takes people 75 hours to complete.
You're right. I love you user.
Not a fan of the gameplay but it sounded like they were doing something right when they announce they were getting rid of the parts, shame they just meant the title.
But full price for a chunk of the game is fucking bullshit, if i ever get it i will wait for the complete edition on PS6.
Did you guys not have fun with the game at all? I spent 99:99 on my first playthrough, consistently 60ish on subsequent ones
I'm not single
Same here, why would I buy part one on a console thats going to be dead in a year kek, I feel sorry for anyone stuid enought ot buy a ps4 collectors edition for $300 not realising there will be a collectors edition for every single part.
I was making fun of you, it's definitely a 45 hour game at least. 60+ if you go for all the best weapons, and omnislash.
I'mma be real with you chief, we all knew we were never getting the whole game in parts.
You are absolutely right that it is deceptive not to mention that in any marketing, but I think even people who don't noticed that know, subconsciously, they are still gonna have to wait another 3 years for the rest of it
I know what you were trying to do you're an idiot It takes 25 hours.
Them not saying how many episodes it will be is them just waiting to see how great sales are. If sales are good, they'll milk this shit for atleast a decade. Just wait and see.
Try another 6 years just to get part 2 of 6. Square is going to use this series to gain attention for the company for years. They will milk the franchise dry to attract investors if the first part isn't shit.
You're a fucking retard.
A new low for Square? Not really.
They spent years advertising FFXV as Versus with a new name. They tricked people into buying sequels of games made by completely different studios. Just Cause 3 was outsourced to America from Sweden, resulting in a completely different game. Shadow of Tomb Raider was outsourced to Canada from US resulting in a truly terrible game. Why? Because Crystal Dynamics was the better team and they wanted them on Avengers instead. Shadow could sell purely on name they reckoned.
Honestly mindboggling how lost and confused SE are and how much they've wasted everything good they've done. FF, Tomb Raider and Just Cause are all dead IPs now. Add to it Deus Ex aswell.
Also Avengers is stillborn. I bet those execs are having some real cold feet after both Anthem and Destiny 2 flopping tremendously.
>but we immediately get articles everywhere about feminine penis' in Cyberpunk
based
Retard, or just pretending?
they have already said there will be two parts.
Im concerned they are going to over inflate the first "Episode" with generic filter stuff such as Squares trademark boring af side-quests, extra soap opera level dialogues and cutscenes, lame collectables and/or some way of referencing the Compilation. It'll be because there simply isnt enough *story* there to worthy $60 so itll just have extra junk.
No but someone at Square must be, since they have done that multiple times now. X-2, XIII-2, etc
I really want that Cloud figure but I cant reasonably pay $220 for it. I'm waiting for that limited edition console.
It's actually really amazing how so few people are picking up on what this Remake truly is. So many people are hyped for it, the marketing has wisely avoided mentioning Part 1 or that this isn't the full game for so long that they don't realize they are getting played hard
It takes 10 hours just to get every 3rd limit break. I have 99 hours clocked
Future episodes will be expansion packs/"DLC".
They are technically fine.
>mfw I realize it's going to take 2 console generations for the whole story to finish
Jesus christ
nevermind the fact that the first part will be the only part this generation and part 2 will probably be next gen
and you'll need to rebuy part 1 to have it on same system
I think most people just don't give a fuck.
Your twitter-esque outrage is amusing to normal people.
Yeah, $60 DLC
Is it confimed that the first part is going to br midgar only? Because that would be confirmation that the game is going to be shit.
They are either adding a crap ton of filler to get to the 30 hour mark, or making it short as fuck
How is that relevant?
>I can beat it faster when I know exactly what to do and what is going on because I have played it multiple times
Idiocy.
>It takes 25 hours
>howlongtobeat.com
If it isn't your first jRPG and you just rush through the story then yes, otherwise 35h+.
>Is it confimed that the first part is going to br midgar only?
Nah, S-E execs said it live at E3 on stage just for giggles, mate.
Nah, the contrarians that are bitching about Midgar being the only focus of the first part are taking an innocuous comment that was about how Midgar could be a game in and of itself only and are running with it.
There have been plenty of rumors where the first part is going to occupy the space of time of the entire first disc of the original game.
They said it outright you mong.
They didn't really confirm shit
I don't even get how they will handle character arcs and whatnot. The majority of character development for these characters won't happen until later, so they'll be static and maybe unlikable for the entire first part.
Also, now every part of the game has to end with a huge final boss. Likely the events in the shinra building have to end with bigger stakes.
>A spectacular reimagining of one of the most visionary games ever, the first game in this project will be set in the eclectic city of Midgar and presents a fully standalone gaming experience.
SE's official description of the game.
They won't release as DLC because it would hurt sales. Witcher 3 sold more than every other entry in the series, could you imagine if it was released as a DLC to Witcher 1? Not only that, but the development will clearly move to next-gen, how would PS4 players with the base game adquire the DLCs then?
wtf just consume
I'd say it's best to throw out your ideas of what kind of character development happens and where in the original. Just going by the trailer, characters/dialogue are completely changed. Like Tifa has no reservations about what Avalanche is doing in the original game until Shinra drops the plate on them.
I'll wait an see how long this "part 1" is going to be. If it's actually 30+ hours long on average, then it might be worth it.
>summons before leaving Midgar
DROPPED
There will be 30hours of cutscenes, and 10hours of actual gameplay (or even less, I'm being optimistic there).
That still doesn't mean the whole game will be in Midgar, you can see in the trailer the part where Sephirot appears and that seems to happen in Nibelheim
YES! Finally getting to see that Loveless play.
>you can see in the trailer the part where Sephirot appears and that seems to happen in Nibelheim
Definitely not. Look at the buildings around them, Nibelheim is a rural town.
So what are the chances we get Genesis in part one or part two?
People will still eat that square enix shit anyways and they know it, xv is the ultimate proof
They even admit they don't know how many episodes will take. Boy, this company is insuffetable.
>Part 4
>Start at level 1 once again.
Square Enix is ripping off Clayton Forrester's Johnny Longtorso idea.
Everyone knew it was episodic before there was even concept art. It's been at least 3 years since they announced that the game would have to be multi-part to be remade today.
Remember when Shenmue was planned to be in like 8 fucking parts, remember when the first game was just called Shenmue and not Shenmue Part 1?
It's nothing new
People forget things easily
