I don't post very often. Honestly, I never have much to say. I really don't pay attention to how Yea Forums works, so I'm not sure if this will even ever be seen. I am grateful for the hard work and dedication the people of Game Freak put into their games. I've played Yellow, Silver, X, Y, Omega Ruby, Omega Sapphire, Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon because of the joy I get out of catching different Pokemon, raising them, breeding them and pitting them against each other. The reason I decided to post is because of all the backlash I'm seeing. I can't WAIT for Sword and Shield. Yes, I've heard about the downsides to it, but I don't think they'll detract from my joy one iota. I know that there was gallons of blood, sweat and tears poured into these releases. I'm sure there will be issues, but I don't doubt for a second that they were caused by a lack of love for the game they're creating. KEEP the Pokemon games coming!! I'll keep buying them!!

If GameFreak hadn’t elaborated on Home’s functionality until closer to its release, everyone would still have bought Sword and Shield, played it with the Galar dex, and messed around competitively or with the postgame or just simple fun online until Home’s release. Home does not deter from any of our gameplay experiences until it’s released and the only reason I can see that there is such an uproar is that people don’t realize its not releasing until next year. We’ve been through this with RS, we’ve been through this with XY, we’ve been through this with SM, we are going through it all over again.
And because of this huge backlash, any time in these upcoming months they can announce future updates to allow the Pokémon to be transferable, maybe even sometime next year. You can’t say “oh b-but GameFreak have never done content patches” yet expect things to change no matter how much you guys choose to boycott or protest.
I’m still going to buy the game, I’m still going to enjoy the game, and I’m not supporting any of the services like Home until transfers are enabled. Point blank.

It can be confusing because people keep saying "there's no national dex". Sun and Moon already removed the national dex, but you could still transfer and use all pokemon, even those not in the regional dex. I actually didn't mind this, the number of pokemon now makes it more annoying than fun to collect literally all of them. However, Sword and Shield and all future games according to Masuda literally won't have pokemon not in the regional dex programmed in, so you can't use them. We still don't know how big the regional dex will be. They seem to be trying to push the new Home app as "your new National dex".

There's a theory going around that they literally can't do this because they've exhausted cartridge space on Dynamaxes. Why, you may ask? Because Dynamaxed Pokemon seem to have their own unique models, which are literally just giant versions of the regular models, rather than programming the game to upscale the regular models to a giant proportion, and we KNOW GameFreak would do something like this because of Alola's Totem Pokemon having unique models despite literally just being upscales of the regular models. And knowing GameFreak's wonderful ways of programming and optimization, odds are these Dynamaxed Variants have identical copies of animations, textures and such, when they could literally just upscale an existing model and get the same result without having to waste cartridge space. Adding further evidence to this theory are the clouds and vortex that surround a Dynamaxed Pokemon, which, as you can see in this webm, seem to be a part of the model rather than their own individual entities being applied to an upscaled version of an existing Pokemon model, as the instant Steelix pops in, so too do the clouds and vortex.
I'll have some choices to make. Not many but a few. I can see going half or more of the game with half a team or less as I ONLY use Pokemon I like.

To be honest I understand what they’re trying to do; we have reached a point where Pokémon don’t really have in-game gameplay niches anymore. Think of red/blue for example, zubat was the status effect+drain tank guy, Chansey was the medic, Ditto was Ditto, etc. Now everyone just uses the best mons and a lot are forgotten.
