I believe self inserting should be acknowledged as a factor. If a man self inserts as the guy, it is arguably not gay at all (or negligibly gay, such as 15%). However, the inverse also applies: self inserting as the female in ANY combination is 100% gay.
Context is extremely crucial for determining how gay it is. Futa-on-female is least gay when self inserting as the futa, as you both have cocks and it's easier to see yourself as a futa than outright female. There's still the issue of futanaris having an objectively feminine form, as well as breasts and perhaps a vagina if you belong to the school of thought that 'true' futanaris have both sets of genitals.
