Why even live?
RIP Australians
Jesus Christ, I hope you're not paying for that shit
>mfw being at most a .15 chuck/sneed ratio
What country even has caps anymore?
The United States of Corporations
just get an external SSD bro. makes the game run faster anyway
>No media exist on the disc and is just merely a prompt for the game download
They have like google fiber though. Maybe some rural areas dont
why external thats retarded
>download only, never seed
most rural areas don't.. or rather all rural areas don't.
Just move to a city lmao
>tfw torrenting is legal but uploading and seeding is not
who /based laws/ here
Black ops 4 on PC
thats an old internet myth and not actually true
make this thread when Death Stranding launches.
it's gonna be epicly relevant
What said, whenever you download something you're also seeding it at the same time. Idiot.
Based germany with its weird laws.
>Halo 5 is 100gb
>MCC will be 100gb soon
>Destiny 2 will be 165 in September
Devs need to learn how to fucking compress.
That takes time and money. They'd rather fuck your harddrive dry with a dick the size of your forearm.
enjoy having your download speed cucked
I'm pretty sure the exact opposite is the case. They don't care so much about people who consume pirated media, they're far more concerned with people who distribute it.
>Live in Australian suburbs
> 450kb/s
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHH
Whilst our online infrastructure is beyond archaic, 130gb shouldn't be too bad for most right now if downloading at their connections optimal speed (and we've finally started fucking off data caps).
For me, I'd have to start the download before leaving for work and it might be ready later on in the night. Haven't quite downloaded something that large yet though.
Worst case scenario, I'd be playing it the next day.
>Live in Australian suburbs
>10 MB/s
Feels good to live in non-shitty suburb
Alternatively i can leech off university Wi-Fi and get over 100 MB/s
Oh no, that's almost 20 minutes.

>only 799 homes IN THE WHOLE FUCKING CUNTRY have speeds faster than 100Mbps
What the fuck?
>Live in SOPA land in a small city with 20k habitants

What's wrong with Australia
Retarded goverment
REEEEEEEEE FUCK YOU CARMACK
Why gotta nudoom manspread all over my SSD with it's 100+ gig filesize?
who are you with wtf
My internet is fast but 130gb is still ridiculous
Here's me:
>30-55 MBit/s download, depend on the ''mood'' and 5 MBit/s upload
>100 GB monthly bandwidth, after which it drops to 4 MBit/s
>mfw I spend all 100 GB only once in my lifetime
Why do games even have fuckhuge gigabite files? We all know it's uncompressed half assed dub of Euronigger language. Does every game HAVE to have one voice actor for French, Spanish, German, Portugese etc? Do Eurofags not know how to read? A game with one set language and translated dub for Eurocuck niggerspeak would be so much better and most likely cheaper.
130gb is like 18 hours for me
You say that, but you probably prefer Japanese VA in your games over English VA, even though you don't speak Japanese.
Just die lmao
>tfw fitgirl repacks lets people decide what language to download
Tfw
>No data caps
>20 euro for 100mb
>15 average ping
AAAAAAND THE LAND OF THE BRAAAAAVE
>no cap but Internet tops out at 14Mbps
Yes because I'm not an illiterate fucking retard and can read my own language while listening to the immersive native language. This is why modern games are fucking shit and AA games equally so, in Kingdom Come a game set in 1403 Czechslovakia Bohemia why are we hearing generic english voice actors instead of native Czech?
OK. If you Burgers have no problem with reading subtitles in games, why do you hate them in movies?
>inb4 there are no good non-American movies
most burgers hate all subtitles which is why shitty dubs of old kung fu movies like Drunken Master exist
Based
>Equating literal retard boomers to gamers.
If Steam allowed players to download a game and then pick the dub through the DLC checkmark menu that'd be fucking great.
>a first world internet
>a
Nice ESL, sandnigger. Go get some rest now, you'll need it when you'll have to spend 5 hours getting water.
?
Is it true that you can buy Diet Water in USA?
Not a problem with first world internet
>game has uncompressed audio in 6 languages and you have to download the whole thing
Where is that? Romania?
college campus
Is this maximum projection?
>deleting the audio afterward shows that it's about 20gigs
That's bullshit. Or, when you have games like FFXV
>demo is bug because there are 4k textures in it
>when you buy the full game you have to option not to download 4k textures if you don't want to
>Point out game sizes are getting larger and larger for no discernible reason
>SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU THIRD WORLDER WHAT'S WRONG CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY MORE SPACE? HAHAHAHA LOOK AT THIS RETARD HE CAN'T AFFORD A TERABYE OF DISKSPACE FOR 50$ HAHAHA
Never change Yea Forums
>that part of the xbox conference where they stated that Scarlett can load games much faster
>they conceal the fact that devs will just make shittier games to load
I remember when Sonic 06 was reviled for having 30 second loadscreens, but then Bloodborne was propped on a pedestal for its 120 second loadscreens.
google fiber is in like two areas of the country
Toronto
I don't know anyone with data caps for internet.
No problems here.
I'm more concerned about 130*x for my drives.
Speaking of size... Is there any logical explanation on why will Final Fantasy VII remake, part 1, be on 2 BR discs? It's only Midgar. Sure, they may expand the story, add new things to do in that city... but 2 discs?
I think someone leaked that FF7 would be about 350ish GB total
>tfw Kingdoms under fire had 5 dubs on-disk
>tfw the game allowed you to change from english to french to spanish to korean in-game on the options
>tfw no triple A game does this anymore
Is a shame what happened to the korean company but it was worth it.
>Go to store
>Buy "physical" copy
>Go home and open
>pic related
>100 GB download
Jesus Christ. Ok, so I won't be getting this on Steam. (assuming it's coming to Steam one day)
publishers intentionally do this based on the idea that you will uninstall games from a competing company to make room.
>2.8mb/s max
please just let my village of 20 people have fiber. Please I just want to play modern vidya.
>Go to store
>Buy "physical" copy
>Go home and pop the CD in to install
>Realize I just bought a set of expensive coasters and a cd key for the mandatory always online drm scheme
>steam download is 130 gb
>game files are only 40 gb
And Steam drones defend it to this day.
Fuck this shit
>game files are only 40gb
>every patch is 20-40gb
Probably Belgium.
fuck you nu-Doom
>2.8mb/s
That's still more than twice as fast as the connection I have.
>game 70gb
>game day 1 patch 50gb
...West Virginia, mountain mama...
lose weight
What the FUCK are they putting in their games?
Fucking retards this is not about internet speed this is about HDD space
Only a few anons got it right
>tfw internet is too fast enough but SSD is too small
shadow of war has a fuckton of cutscenes with more than 10 languages, no wonder the repack version is a 1/3 of the total size of the game
>quora.com
Zoomer devs are shit at compressing game files, but it's due to becoming complacent and not having to work around limitations as much.
The same files over and over. The current gen devs think that by making their games bloated, they'll discourage piracy. The hardware manufacturers spun it as "now you can play your games AS they install because instead of rendering the guns once, they're rendered for each level!" Devs copy/pasted on us.
that is just pure ineptitude from devs
grafffix
SSD's are dirt cheap right now
A strong theory for Halo 5 is that there's little ACTUAL asset reuse.
An example is that there are near-identical structure in Warzone called Armories. Almost every Armory looks and performs the same, but because of their very slight differences, they're all saves as unique armory files in the code. So that would be minimum 16 unique structures that could have all been compiled down to four, maybe two, sets of models and textures.
This also applies to Garages.
Live out in the middle of nowhere, can only get satellite internet, unlimited data plan starts at $250 a month, opt for $70 a month plan, get 60 gig on peak an 100 off, can only download a game a month.
HD graphics and audio. I don't understand why people are shocked to discover that stuff takes up space. A general rule of thumb for textures, as an example, is when you double the resolution you quadruple the space requirements. Going from 512x512 to 2048x2048 comes with a hefty cost to your hard drive.
>SSD is too small
Then why not Internal SSD + External HDD? Best of both worlds desu.
It's an issue with the engines companies use, Unreal engine is fucking crap honestly. It's bloated as fuck, JP companies use far superior engines
RDR2 on PC
Because in the time period the people spoke the dead linguistic of bohemian you fucking mongoloid why do you think they say "cumins".
The whole point was historical consistency. Either dread up a barely known dead language and pay out the fucking ass for professionals to voice it competently, which they couldn't do, or use the symbolic language of the time. Old english.
Use your your brain
>me: trying to have fun installing MvCI, a fucking 2d fighting game
>mffw I look at the size of the install
It's over than half the size of Monster Hunter World. How can that be
>Game has 6 gorillion dubs
>Nothing is compressed
>Patches are the size of the game itself
>Buying a physical disc is almost pointless because you still gotta install a bunch of shit
>Not even accounting for DLC
>Storage and Ram ain't getting any cheaper
Tfw
>no data caps
>15 euros for 1gb
>5 average ping
Storage most definitely is, RAM kind of is but corsair can't fucking help themselves and keep clocking up h/z speed like its 1980's moores law.
>JP companies use far superior engines
Oh, yeah. If there is one thing Jap devs are known for it's their technical competency. It's not like they are constantly playing catch up with west or anything. It's not like their PC ports are so fucking shit they actually have to hire random slavs off the internet to do it for them.
>Multiplayer only game from 2015 is +130 GB
Fucking R6 siege
>download is 130gb
>final installed size is 25gb
What happened
>Destiny 2 is free for a little bit
>seriously consider it
>see the filesize
>change my mind at once
I have 700kb download with 30gb monthly cap.
You have no idea what hell is like.
Most japs use UE now
>data caps
lmao
>they added cross-save, to let you switch platforms at will
>they expect you to have a 165gb game on at least two systems
It's a neat idea, but that would have been cool for, say, Monster Hunter which sits at 20gb. Hell, MH3U had that.
>delete game because you think you're done with it
>have to download it again and wait another 4 hours
fuck you GT Sport, I did this a billion times
>Multiplat runs buttery smooth on everything from Toaster to Console to Hyper Expensive PC Towers
>Exclusive runs like absolute shit despite being designed with one set of hardware in mind
>stuck in an endless loop of installing and reinstalling games on steam because i dont play them for a while but suddenly out of nowhere i feel an urge like an ich to play them again
maybe this whole game streaming meme doesnt sound so bad after all
Bigger game mean less space available for other games therefore more chance of it being played. The opposite effect is that people skip this game since it's too big.
I want to put in the disc and play like during the old times, this is getting tiring
Ah, shit, this is going to take 1/5 of my day
I hate the concepts of datacaps. I would rather have unlimited 10mb than a capped 1gb.
>game has 3 separate parts that don't need each other
>have to download the entire 120GB game even if you only play the 30GB part of it.
Which country? Australia? Africa? Syria? Venezuela?
ahah user, you are aiming a tad high, it's probably Colorado
Gears of War 4. It's ok
Internet connection is only one of the concerns. Storage space is also a bitch. Over 100GB for a single game? Devs are hacks, there's no need for a game to be that big.
>He thinks he has it bad
If you have Comcast, you have a datacap. They don't outright say it because nobody uses 1TB but you'll get a nastygram alert if you hit 900GB.
Fuck no just give us our fucking discs back and make downloading all that extra shit an option in the fucking installer IT'S NOT THAT FUCKING HARD
Xfinity completely bullied google fiber out of existence, and I do mean completely since it's only in maybe ten counties in the entire country
What is xfinity? Who can bully google?
>3mb download
>0.001kb/s download speed
Who wireless ISP here?
>15mb download
>lag spikes makes online gaming unplayable
>tfw torrenting is legal and uploading is legal
Its Comcast.
maybe 10 years ago. ISPs have been disclosing data caps for a good while now, probably because mobile made it ok. these days "unlimited" is an add-on that you can buy for about $50/mo.
Halo 5 at least has HD audio for every language and dozens of duplicate 1080 res models for spartan armor, weapons, etc.
"""hd""" audio doesn't take up a lot of space if a proper codec is used.
>takes literally 20 minutes to download
wheres the problem?
I bought Doom a few minutes ago, 80 fucking GB download.
It is somewhere around $160 for decent speed unlimited Internet, I checked the website you are right, they do offer it. But how many people pay that much really?
The $90 "middle" plan, that I use, still has a data cap.
>even a 150GB download only takes me an hour
I can't believe some people still have data caps.
I would insult you for demanding other people read while your shit is blaring in the background, but you are probably one of those fucks insisting on undub patches even though you don't speak jap just to rub your e-peen.
>buy TESO
>12 hour download
>it's fucking shit
you know you can change your torrent program's settings so you never upload a single byte right?
that's exactly what that post said.
This is the worst feeling. Its like timelocked dissapointment
>game is over 100gb
>over 70% of that are uncompressed audio files in multiple languages
LOL that's a godsend. I had a monthly 17GB allowance for years. Had to go to my friend's house to download steam games. Good ole' American internet!
>seven variations of chinese
>tfw download time is 3563466 days
Don't give a fuck
They have it in a good bit of places now. I actually live less than 20 miles from huntsville but the lines stop like 9 miles from my house. Fucking bullshit.
>cartridge is no bigger than 500kb
>considered one of the greatest games of all time
Glad I didn't fall for the modern game meme and just stick to retro games
Damn I'm glad I'm Canadian and not a Euro Poor
This used to be a thing on older consoles, e.g. in Sonic CD (for Sega CD) every level is pretty much its own ROM with all Sonic and enemy sprites etc. This was done to improve loading times, as the system just needs to load one 512KB block in its memory instead of a gajillion files from all over the CD.
>live in Canadian suburb
>1gbs
I just wish they had faster speeds, this is too slow for me now
>1tb HDD
>100gb game
>immediately over 10% gone
why lose weight when I can gain height?
You don't have to install each game to your SSD dumbass. Buy a huge HDD and just keep your favorites always installed. Most games don't benefit from running off an SSD anyway.
Finish one game and move on so fucking hard? Multiplayer games are fucking cancer anyways.
Yeah because games are the only thing I want on my HDD and everyone has a good enough connection to download something the moment they want it.
Destiny 2
Watch your show and move on unless its fucking 10/10.
>repacked pirate download is under 50
>Game gets a patch
>Before it downloads the patch it "Verifies" the game files or whatever
>Goes through the entire game
>Basically takes as long as the download would be
>It's like I'm downloading the entire game every time it patches
Fucking Battlefield V
Makes me wonder why don't AAA do this means more people can in theory play at launch? How bad are the unpack times?
200kbps download
What movie is this image from?
>Makes me wonder why don't AAA do this means more people can in theory play at launch?
because old men in suits with money don't know that making your game smaller is better, and they don't want to bother getting rid of uncompressed textures.
>internet is so slow that a download this size would literally take 130 hrs
>pretty much hopeless for me to try and get better internet aside from moving
Must suck being a gamer who have no storage space and shit internet.
>300 kbps download
>This is the fastest internet available in my area
>It's also the only ISP in the area
You have 2 choices, Rogers or Bell, just pick one they both offer 1000mbs plans
What? user im not Canadian. My only option is fucking trash ATT giving me a whopping 3 Mb/s. Anytime I call they feed me the same bullshit that they are always upgrading their services and will let me know when they offer faster speeds. Its been 3 years now. Pretty sure those faster speeds arent coming. Shitty thing is I live right outside city limits. I know within the city limits the ISPs offer gigabit internet. Was hoping eventually they would expand into my area... but that shit isnt happening apparently either.
>Internet has a TB data cap
>internet is so slow that its functionally unlimited and i couldnt hit the cap if i tried
