Well, seeing as high level psykers are capable of warping the fabric of reality and destroying entire planets, that's pretty fucking minor.

Outside of extremely controlled circumstances, the Imperium only allows low-mid level psykers to live. Anything more is just a disaster waiting to happen if they lose control. Librarians are to high level psykers as Techmarines are to Magi of the Admech.

It's less that most regiments accept women and more that for every male only regiment, there's a mixed/female regiment to match. It usually depends on the world they come from. Valhallans for example have both male and female regiments, Cadians are mixed and Tallarns are all male, (as far as I recall).

I would not call whoring out the IP as catering to a certain demographic, they have been throwing out 40k and fantasy merchandise games tabletop and whatnot to everyone. Besides what you posted is just kid friendly version not SJW which is ironic because 40k is not kid friendly at all.

It's the same rule as the High and Dark Elves in Fantasy. They die as much as drama dictates and there are enough to keep fighting after the onslaught. Basically, the authors are lazy and/or don't consult each other.

It's still speculation but the DA codex is the only one that has a plot hook for the future with Luther escaping and basically confirming the Lion is operational and ready to go. And even his model will come later than expected in not more than a year will see the HH Lion model and DA range finally getting their specialized units and models from FW.

some of the books suck, especially if you don't care for a certain legion or whatever, but most of them come together kind of nicely
some are hard to follow

Because the game is like the board game it's build around in Space Hulk Genestealers have rending claws which can pierce a normal marine with one hit and strip terminator armor in seconds.

I was actually a little bothered by the lack of damage there. The traitor is firing a fuck huge anti armor autocannon, and it literally doesn't even leave a mark on the pauldron of the marine. Those weapons are designed to kill vehicles, they should do something to a marine; even the multilas left scorch marks.

40K orks are essentially fungus, so even if you kill them they recover from the spores left in their bodies extremely quickly. They also grow to full size in less than a day and are pre-programmed with fighting in mind, so they're extremely combat focused. They will fight each other if they find no one else to fight.

If it was so lore accurate as this, then the tyranids would die like flies. In the lore SMs have specialized bolter rounds that melt the largest Tyranids without the need for close engagement.

The tyranid problem is easily solvable with mass production of chemical torpedos and mass dropping them on hive fleets. The only reason it didn't happen is because the imperium can't dedicate that much time to one problem. But the solution already exist and the imperium has a weapon that no tyranid can adapt to.

If you read the Caliban / Dark Angels books, you learn a great deal more about who he is and what he looks like etc, what happens to him and how his personality is shaped

There's still a shitload of stuff there to absorb and digest but if you need to know everything, you've gotta dive into the fluff (or watch people talk about the fluff)

one author might describe space marines as being heavy, sturdy, loud and clunky, who you can hear coming a mile away because of their whining servos and thudding steps
the next will include moments where someone is snuck up on by a giant dude in power armour without them making a single sound and moving lightning fast, climbing with the grace of an acrobat and so on
there's no real solid foundation, they're all of these things and none of these things, when the situation calls for it
but one thing is for sure, they're not immortal - but the named ones get copious amounts of plot armour whereas the unnamed ones get killed in one shot in the background all the time
also, remember they're not mindborged clones with no personality and a set template of skill, they're all different, some can be stronger, some can be faster, some can be more skilled etc

Since you mentiond bullet sponges I just want to say I noticed there seems to be a world of difference in the way the gunplay feels between single-player and coop. In coop everything feels like it just tickles the tyranids until they die while in singleplayer the guns seem to have the sort of impact that's intended. The netcode really seems to fuck with the way the tyranids react to getting shot.

Also since it sounds like you've played it, what difficulty would you say represents the real power of a terminator squad versus genestealers? Would it be the easiest difficulty setting?

Stirland for the dark foresty and destitute/backwards map and Averland for the "idyllic", flat farmland map. They tried to go for esports and small unit battles in DoW 2, then tried to go back to the roots, but only did that attempt half-heartedly. Too bad, because I really like the setting and the games.

Feels like Martyr is almost as hated by the general public as DoWIII

I bought it in the last sale because I was feeling the itch for some arpg and 40k. I'm not much of an arpg player but I liked some of the things Martyr did. It really nails the 40k feel. It is a bit buggy and has some odd systems but surprisingly good in some respects, amount of allied guardsmen running around in some missions was impressive and the story is decent enough, if a bit trite. The guns generally do feel pretty damn good. Them meltas are great. Plasmas sound a bit weak for my liking.
