GameFreak has always been incompetent, and they never had to improve because they got lucky and found success under Nintendo's wing. interestingly GS is also the only series with proper error handling in the case where you enter a battle with no pokemon. In GS you simply exit the battle while most other gens just absolutely shit the bed, sometimes in remarkable ways.

it seems like they have been doing the same thing since gen 1, really. all the data had to be loaded when you "zoned" into another place - so all the pokemon there need to be put into memory (which was abysmal) so they could load properly in the zone. so maybe they never had just one database for the pokemon due to this.

i dunno, just theorizing, but yeah it's very badly coded if that is the case in the image.

don't know about the new games but Digimon has always been more about bonding and raising a good monster instead of just collecting a lot that don't matter to you.

That's exactly the problem. I was upset in Gen 3 when half the pokemon in the national dex had to come from FRLG, but it just meant my journey wasn't over. In later generations you were expected to use roundabout methods to get some of the rarer pokemon if you wanted them. They existed and all that was stopping you was your ability to get your hands on them through another game or your friends, save a few bullshit event pokemon.
But now they're simply not including them in the games. They no longer exist. This isn't the world of pokemon anymore, this is a slice of pokemon. Even in the Gen 5 games when all the genwunners complained they couldn't use muh bros it was still possible to do it, you just needed the right method. Now they simply do not exist anymore.

Depends on what consoles you have, I’d just start with Cyber Sleuth or Hacker’s Memory if you don’t have access to the former.

Digimon World is the classic game that's great. Digimon Rumble Arena is a good smash clone if you have friends or family to play with.

Most of Digimon games are very mediocre, up until Cyber Sleuth which tries to capture what made Digimon World great.

I'd try out Digimon World emulated and see if you like it, then move on to Cyber Sleuth.

As somebody already pointed out, Steelix and the vortex above him pop in at exactly the same time, which suggests that they're parts of the same model. This would mean that they made a separate model of every Dynamaxed Pokemon which includes the vortex instead of just creating a single vortex model and positioning it above Dynamaxed Pokemon in the scene.

If you haven’t played the GCN games, definitely emulate on your desktop with the phys/spec patch
You can emulate HGSS, Platinum, BW, and BW2 on any DS emulator.

HG/SS, Platinum, Black/White and the sequels if you want more. Then after that look into some fan mods like the Drayano one where he buffs weaker mons, moves and adds more mons to find and makes it challenging. Always fun to play those from time to time.

Seems like I'll start with Platinum and SS after that because from what I've heard it was newer (within the gen) and the longest and most beloved game
