P2 had negotiations too but that was a long ass time ago, I thought the point of OP was to complain about P5's "casualization", meaning that it was more streamlined than the previous _recent_ entries, when in fact it's the complete opposite. There were also fusion spells, not found in P5, but there are other P5 battle mechanics not found in P2 so it equals out. Also P5R will have some sort of fusion attack where we see multiple characters interacting on a single attack (such as morgana and Haru)

P4G had those team attacks and P3 had fusion spells

P3 is the worst ever persona and SMT game when it comes to gameplay.
Any other versions of P3 are to be compared to P5R and not P5. Same for P4G.

Yes, Nearly every aspect of the game got improved and new mechanics added on. Just think of P3/P4's combat and think "Oh P5 added THIS on top of it", think of social links and think "Oh P5 added THIS on top of those", so on and so forth. because it's just as simple as that. And I didn't even get into the better dungeon layouts, better areas and camera angles in tokyo, the overall style and execution (P3 has a boring as fuck isometric view for the most part, P4 doesn't do much with composition on its various areas) and more.

The only reason to hate P5 is your personal taste on the OST, or if you dislike the characters, or if you pretend the plot matters in any Persona game. On every other single aspect P5's the best.
