Why was Banjo-Kazooie so beloved? I played it when it came out and it was just a collect-a-thon platformer. It was always a B-list series even at its best.

Cause it's fucking fun.

It's a fun game with a lot of charm for it.

Fun level design and charming characters. Banjo-Kazooie is great. Tooie much less so for me, but it has its enthusiasts.
>B-list series
Aside from Mario I can't think of many better 3D platformers. Rayman 2 is maybe up there, but it's been a long time since I played it. Croc and Spyro were always rather bland in comparison.

I dunno, man. I didn't know at the time that it would be seen as a fucking classic the way it is now. I always found it a little boring and tedious but the art is great and the music is fucking lit too, so it's not like I hate it. I'm happy other anons are happy that Banjo is in Smash and I hope they get a new game that is good somehow.

it's slow and boring. it's shit.

The duality of man.

Autistic furries.
I'm just glad he's in so they can stop screeching all over the internet finally.

1) It might the most notable example of the spate of cutesy 3D platformer collect-a-thons following the breakout success of Super Mario 64. You get a bit of a nostalgia rush since the “Super Mario 64-like” is now an all-but-dead genre with only some of Nintendo left as a AAA developer and publisher of what used to be a major genre (with the occasional indie title, but it’s not even a very popular genre among indie developers).
2) It was a great game with (usually) masterful level design and mechanics.

Because it's one of the best and most beloved games of the N64? People really love to forget just how relevant the franchise was. It was seen amongst Nintendo's big leads.
