Why? The idea of Mako eyes come up repeatedly in the game. It makes perfect sense that a guy with a closer connection to Jenova would have eyes that are even more different.

I think you're right. With Sepheroth, there was always a lot of time given to his MOTIVATION, but almost nothing to who he was as a person.

However, he apparently is estuans internis ira vehementi, if his music is any indication.

He's one of those nutjob villain characters that never went into the stereotypical maniacal route. Like Kefka is psychotic but its cool because he was funny and had the clown aesthetic behind it. For Sephiroth, his insanity is a lot more cerebral because it comes from how he processes information

Kefka's backstory is pretty meh though
