If you liked 9 you'll like 3 since it has the same party customization. Emulate the SNES version with a translation patch. I'd recommend waiting for XI because the Switch version has a lot of new content and changes.

Aside from those V has the best story but less party customization, and the rest are all considered great with the exception of II and VI, which are arguably mediocre.

You can straight up mod some of the content (orchestral soundtrack, and Japanese voice acting if you care about that for some reason) into the PC version already, but I have a feeling they're going to port this Definitive Edition to PC eventually. It's just that it'd probably take another six months so I guess it depends on how long you want to wait.

When you have human party members, press B often (party chat) after every little thing; reaching a new town, talking to any NPC, after major story events, etc. Each party member usually has something to say about every little thing and the characterization that comes with it is great, especially seeing how they react differently over the generational story

The original C&C console ports had extra levels that were available after completing the campaigns. Modders later extracted the ps1, but had to recreate the n64 levels due to it being made in a 3d engine.
Red Alert also had FMVs that were only available for the retaliation ps1 port that later got added in. These got added in around 2008 or so.

Erdrick is the name of the DQ3 guy, but also a title like "Lord" or "King." Unlike Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest games take place in the same universe so there is some continuity between them.

The thing with Solo though is it's not even about it being a girl, I just think her design is so much more interesting then his. If they did what they did with hero from III and made the female version just a slimmer version of the male essentially I wouldn't see it as a loss. My guess is that it wouldn't work. It always seems that the priest asks the deity to resurrect them if that's their will. My guess is that most of the time, it is not their will to mess with the natural order, but they make a special exception for the heroes saving the world.

There's a difference between ingame death and cutscene death I guess.

Well I tried to play the mobile version of 4 because there was a download for the .apk in the DQ general but opening the emulator crashed my computer, which is unrelated to the game and is probably some problem with my GPU that I've been having a while but happens too infrequently to fix it, but the point is playing it on the computer is probably unlikely. So I installed the .apk on my mobile device but when I loaded it up (with the internet off, to be safe) some shady Russian text popped up real quick so I'm worried about what that was, and then it asked to download the game data and I'm hesitant about that because I would presumably be downloading it from Google's servers so I'm not sure if I want to do that either.

Damn it, I would just get the DS version if they hadn't cut out the party chat. Yeah, I could buy the game like a normal person but I don't buy stuff on mobile, I don't like having my personal information on one of these.

Maybe they'll do a new collection or something in honor of these games being in Smash and I'll just play one of the others in the meantime.

I'm gonna level with you, the party chat in IV is not as much of a deal breaker as people like to make it out to be. It is cut content, and it sucks we didn't get it included, but IV probably has one of the weaker ones in my opinion. It's definitely not near 5, 7s, and 8s. It is absolutely skippable.

She gets really bitchy with you in attitude and has a lot of problems with you for unapproved actions. There's a portion where if you look through a dancer's drawer, she brings up your dead father and tells you that he'd be ashamed of you right now. And it wasn't in a light "reflect on your actions" way, the way it was written made it sound more like she was rubbing his death in your face. I think it was something like "He died for you to become this?" or along those lines.

Weird. On one hand I want to say it may be an awkward translation, DQ hasn't always had the best official translations, but maybe they just weren't sure how to characterize her.

I like party chat as a feature but with some characters it can be hard finding stuff for them to say in every situation. It works great dmfor some characters, Maribel's in VII is great and made me love her, but others aren't so lucky.
