Aonuma: "the BOTW sequel will remain in Hyrule"

>Yesterday we learned that the younger members of the team have been inspired by Red Dead Redemption 2. Today we’ve learned, thanks to Game Informer‘s interview with designer Eiji Aonuma, that Breath of the Wild director Hidemaro Fujibayashi is once again at the helm, and we’ve gotten some insight into why Breath of the Wild is getting a direct sequel.

>Zelda games have gotten sequels before, but rarely have they been ‘traditional’ sequels. Majora’s Mask, the most popular Zelda sequel, shuffles Link off to a new world in the opening cutscene, but the BOTW sequel will remain in Hyrule.

>“One of the reasons we wanted to create a continuation was because I wanted to revisit that Hyrule again and use that world again, while incorporating new gameplay and new story,” Aonuma told Game Informer.

This fag better start answering questions. Are we going to have real sidequests and not these soulless shrine clones? what about traditional dungeons? Also, what Zelda is monolith soft working on then?

if they wanted to reused the same world why not just make an expansion pack?

I have a feeling it is dlc.

Same reason they made Galaxy 2 a full game.

The teaser called it a sequel, which implies otherwise.

This was a straight up lie and a huge translation error and I can't believe people just roll with it. He was asked what his younger developers have been playing while working on BotW2, IGN who originally mistranslated this implied that he meant they took ideas and influences from RDR2 just because they played it at the same time

in the article they confirmed it is a sequel and will possibly have its own dlc like the first botw

thanks for the clarification thats a pretty big fuck up

I feel like they heard what people thought BoTW needed and took the opportunity to give that to us here. BoTW was missing life and town, enemy variety, dungeons, castle town, etc.

Using the same world with a time jump means that most of the work is already done just adding in tons of good shit and a short development time. i wouldn't be surprised if it came out holiday 2020 or 21.
