It's why sometimes an anime/weeb game VA will cross over into western games and cartoons, but you almost never see a mainly western game/cartoon actor change gears to focus on anime/game dubs. The budget for dubs has always been much, much lower than that of "native" productions.

Only ones that bother me are the loss of Steve Burton, Beau Billingslea, and George Newburn.

Steve Burton has the perfect voice for Cloud; he just needed some decent direction. Billingslea has an iconic voice period, and George Newburn was practically born to voice Superman and Sephiroth.

90% of the dialogue in the trailers has been about this specifically. They're clearly going to elaborate on the repercussions their terrorist actions have and how it affects them all.

Too bad he never got that. He varied from bad to acceptable in everything I heard him in but I never thought he did amazing. A little sad to not hear them be in the main game finally after almost 20 years of sequels, prequels, spin-offs and crossovers but I don't think he in particular is a huge loss. Losing Billingslea and Newburn stings though. Billingslea sounds perfect as Barret and Newburn was so good as Sephiroth in Crisis Core. Really sold his fall from SOLDIER hero to sinister madman. Definitely agree that it sucks to lose those two.

Everyone else was either not great or not heard much anyway so them getting replaced isn't a huge deal. I think even the small bits we've heard of Aerith and Tifa sound better than they ever have. And some characters like Cid or Red XIII only had a couple of lines in Advent Children from what I remember and nothing else even in the spin offs.
