smt thread?
boring and only pretend to like it for hipster cred
You thought the music, art direction, and gameplay were amazing, fantastic, and great respectively.
you thoroughly enjoyed dds1
and slogged through 2, only finishing it due to a sense of completionism
What about the story?
I don't know user. I don't think that's what I'm thinking
fpwp
game's fantastic
Dunno either. I don't think that's what I thought either. In fact I may have thought the opposite maybe?
>My party's level is 99, how hard could this be?
This +
You thought that it's one of your favourite SMT games. You almost cried when heat rejoined. You also loved the kill em all moments. You really want to read the book now but the third volume will never get translated.
The only problem was Cielo was a third wheel and wasn't developed that well. You still liked him anyway.
I'd like to get into SMT, and everywhere I checked, they said DDS1&2 were one of the best titles to get familiar/into the series. You must tell us later: how did YOU like it, user? I should play them. Need to dust off my PS2 and see if my friend can lend me his copy.
Also, best SMT games on the 3DS for a beginner?
You thought that although the premise of the story was terrific, the execution of certain elements and somewhat uneven delivery of crucial plot points left a bit to be desired. Regardless, you walk away with a sense of satisfaction, knowing that despite some flaws the story and its characters were memorable and will stick with you for further contemplation in the near future.
om mani padme hm
What problems did you have in the story? I only had a problem with Cielo and a bit of the beginning of 2 where it just throws all this information at you.
DDS isn't technically an SMT game any more than Persona is. It's more like Atlus trying their hand at making a Final Fantasy game. And it's damn good.
The best starting point on the 3DS would be SMT IV, or perhaps Strange Journey's 3DS remaster. SMT IV is probably easier, I'm not sure how the difficulty of Strange Journey Redux is but the original DS version is one of the harder ones.
I actually liked both if them. I may have enjoyed dds2 a little more just for the "who's gonna fucking die next."
DDS1 set up way too many questions without giving any answers.
Oh, and note that SMT IV Apocalypse is not a re-release of SMT IV. It's more like a sequel that assumes you took the Neutral route but then interrupts the story near the end of the game and prevents the normal Neutral ending of SMT IV from happening, extending the plot. A weird alternate universe sequel.
Playing through this my theory was that
>They're all friends on a cruise ship
>Everyone on the cruise ship fucking dies.
>God decided to test humans to see their resolve
>Sera is like a golden snitch from the Harry Potter movies
>Nirvana is the beach (watched the opening of dds2 while playing dds1)
I was fucking wrong on so many things.
I'm going to shill DDS as much as possible. Yes it isn't like traditional SMT but it's a great start.
It uses the same battle system as other SMT games but it's a bit grind heavy to get the skills you want.
The story is fucking fantastic, I loved all of it.
I thought it would be like SMTxMad Max but instead I've got SMTxNierxEvangelion. It's fucking great.
DDS is the best MT game
Actually I know they handwaved it but...
How the fuck did everyone get physical bodies if they're just AI. Yeah they're data and blah blah blah people are data too but how'd they just swoop into reality. And what the fuck did they do as soon as they got out? Just fuck around until Fred found them? Where did they plop out of? They couldn't have just ploped out of karma society. It makes no sense for them to be in the underground city.
question: did you play this on a ps2 or PS2 emulator? wondering if I should play my PS2 on my old ass tube TV for da colors and comfy feel, or if convenience triumphs and I should just play it on my flatscreen
Up to you
If you have both, play it on an actual PS2. There's a shadows glitching and a bit of slowdown.
Completely explained magic. Angel assumes that god dunnit. Probably because Sera was hooked in throughout DDS1 and didn't want them to all die. Judging by the intro to DDS2 I'd say that yeah, they were just wandering around for a few hours until they found eachother. The intro has Serph in a random deserted city above ground, so they probably all materialized in that general region and then found their way underground.
now play DeSu
Already played both. I'm the same user who used the exact same thread for ds2
Ah the intro cutscenes make sense now. Okay I can buy that. Thanks user.
