Fun game but definitely emphasizes action over strategy. Still worth it just to roleplay different factions. Faction variety is pretty cool too. Once again, very simplistic from a strategy standpoint.

Compared to other Total War games: Far more faction variety and a more varied setting make interesting in a lot of ways, but it's lacking in a bunch of the basic stuff like AI, mapsets, campaign design, etc. It's battles are super quick and arcadey which you may like or dislike. It has its upsides and downsides, but it's far from the extreme in either direction.

The empire is fighting against a bunch of demons and rebel humans under their influence. There’s also some shitty faction of humans called Bretonnia but they don’t really matter.
Some faggot elves are in a war against dark elves. And the wood elves are also there but who the fuck cares.
Then there’s the undead that are also evil because a fantasy setting isn’t complete without the cliche undead. Oh and there’s also mummies for some reason.
And then there’s a bunch of nigger factions like the orcs, beastmen, Skaven and lizardmen that are there just to be evil.

I have about 350 hours into this game, I pretty much solely do co-op mortal empires campaign (giant ass world map with total war 1) with a good Danish friend of mine, shitton of lords and factions give it good replayability
