Reminder the smith we see in the trailer is based on Ilmarinen, a blacksmith god "the eternal hammerer" who made the Sampo. Ilmarininen also forged himself a wife out of gold [boss idea anybody?] and a hand out of silver [which is is probably what we see in the clip of the multi-armed king. Note the shiny silver highlights near the edge of the limb. This game's version of Ilmarinen will shatter to bits when he's done smashing the Elden Ring and it appears pieces of his body are object of power that are sought after by Kings/Kingdoms]

I've heard a lot of interesting theories about what the story may be inspired
It could be that the 2 blacksmiths in the trailer may be inspired by Brokkr and Eitri from Norse mytology
Some user said the blacksmith may be inspired by Svarog, a Slavic god
Others said he may be inspired by Völundr, a master artisan from Nordic mythology
The plot may also be a reference to the ring of the Nibelung
