I'm just happy it's actually on Steam and without DRM. Hopefully the year's-worth of time also ironed out the bugs in YotD too.

Everyone that cares about Spyro has already bought and played the remaster and enjoyed having their nostalgia tickled, it's old news at this point.

I care about Spyro because I played Enter the Dragonfly for Gamecube as a kid and liked it, but I fucking hate Sony and don't have a Playstation. So I'll be getting the PC version

IIRC there were general loading/music errors, crashes, camera-fuckups (especially in Byrd's level), etc. It was still mostly playable but the blemishes were big. Also RR and YotD in general were kinda rushed.

Well, the authentic way to experience it would be on a CRT at the original resolution but that's besides the point. What that person posted does not represent the original game as it actually appeared on real PS1s, so it doesn't debunk my point of all PS1 games aging like garbage

While you're right on this matter, there's still a dozen more of issues to tackle on the remaster, such as the questionable changes on some skies and places.

No it's not. If you can download a game off of Steam and then play it from the files you downloaded than clearly it's not inherently DRM

even using default resolution, it still looks pretty well. Toasty from spyro 1 looks better than 90% of any platformers from that time and about 30% of platformers that came after.
I dont have a pic of it but twilight harbor is still pretty good.

the remaster also puts tons of filters on some levels, while the originals got the colors right from lighting alone. I really hate that filters have become so rampant in games now, it makes dark areas look bad. Some dark areas in reignited are a vibrant purple color due to the shitty filters.

i played the games just recently, and more than once a gem would disappear from a level, as in sparx would tell me i'd found them all but i was at like 398/400, and i had to leave the level and come back in and suddenly it had respawned

The filter was also an issue in the Crash remake as far as I've concerned, and it looks the same in the CTR one as well.

I think the remake for Spyro looks super nice filters aside, but the complete lack of effort in the remakes for the 2nd and 3rd game is a big issue.

Midnight mountain was fixed, and most of the character designs in 3 actually look decent. 2nd remake is pretty shitty though.

Maybe pay attention to how many games get PC ports nowadays. Releasing a game on console and a PC port some time later is pretty much standard now.
