I want to see if there are enough autists on Yea Forums for a thread like this. A running tally of grades for conferences and Directs since you started watching E3 (big 3 only for simplicity's sake) for those us that have been keeping track or have a good enough memory to go that far back. The red and green are just a touch on mine to mark the best and worst each year, mostly as tiebreakers.

I literally can't even remember last year mane

>2008
what happened there

That was the second year of downsized E3. 2007 showed all three companies that the event wasn't really worth a shit anymore (for anyone who says the even is worthless now, you really have no motherfucking idea) so 2008 was just a show of no one trying. The only thing people remember about 2008 are, first, Final Fantasy XIII coming to Xbox. Sometimes we hear exaggerations about how E3 didn't have any big announcements or something, but this was literally and legitimately the only big news of the show that year, and it would have been one among many, not even close to the biggest, any other year, as all it was was the announcement that a game we'd already known about for 2 1/2 years was going multiplatform outside of Japan. I think even the trailer they showed was an old trailer we'd already seen.

Oops, hit post too early. The other thing people remember about 2008, and the indicator of how worthless E3 was to the industry at that point, was of course Nintendo's godawful E3 shitshow. Casualware, waggle, Wii Music, and Cammie Dunaway. Thing is, Nintendo actually had big announcements that year, but they just saved them for their Fall investor meeting; DSi, Punch-Out, Sin & Punishment 2, shit like that. Nintendo literally didn't try in 2008, downsized E3 was a fucking joke. Really they should have just not shown up.

how the fuck is that not a straight up F

Your ratings make no sense. How is the sports tv call of duty conference from Microsoft better than the Death Stranding, God of War, Detroit, Days Gone conference from Sony in 2016. That was literally the best conference of the entire generation.

2019 Microsoft was a straight D.
It was all no gameplay, just pre-rendered trailers and sequel teasing.

In case you're blind, OP is a nintentoddler.

I would push a C. A lot more technical push from them but no gameplay

The conference itself was actually quite good. In fact it would have scored higher, but one of the marks against it was that they didn't address the controversy on stage, they just ignored it, thus leaving themselves bend over and spread for Sony's dick.

All of MS's sports/tv/CoD conferences got F and F- ratings. If you're talking about 2013, it didn't have the sports and TV shit, and had Battlefield rather than CoD (yeah, I know, same difference) They put all that shit in the Xbox One reveal event, which happened before E3, and I'm only talking about E3, which had a good Xbox conference that year. As for Sony's middling 2016 score, the conference had a lot of good to it, I'll give you that. But I fucking hated the industry's VR boner at the time, and the show's VR section was painful indeed for me. And the kicker was Days Gone, which seriously hurt the show by being the closer. Right from the outset, I saw nothing but a trite, cookie-cutter, me-too, no-ideas puddle of fucking wank, and I couldn't believe Sony went off the air on such a dull thud of a gameplay demo.

In any case, it wasn't even Sony's best conference of the generation, you can fuck right off with that, 2015 was better.

It moved up from C+ for Keanu. They didn't have the gameplay, but they did still have a lot of games.

In 2016 they revealed: Days Gone, God of War, Detroit, Death Stranding, Spiderman, Resident Evil 7, Playstation VR, The Last Guardian release date and the Crash trilogy remake. It was the best conference Sony ever did, the best conference anyone has done in the entire generation and one of the best conferences ever in the fuckin history of e3.

wait whats the color coding for?

WOW SURE IS BEST IN HERE

>Using Death Stranding, Detroit, a multiplat and PSVR of all things to prove Sony had the best E3 ever

Again, I'll grant you that they had a lot of good shit in 2016, and they still wound up with the best conference in my estimation. But for me, Days Gone and especially Playstation VR were huge negatives. 2015 didn't have any such major downers, and if we're talking big reveals, it doesn't get any bigger than Final Fantasy VII.

Says right in the OP

I don't give a shit about what you think about the games. They revealed five AAA exclusives, they had Kojima on stage after the Konami shit, they give a release date for a game people were waiting 10 years for, and even had a remake of a fan favourite game that everyone had for dead. And the presentation was nothing but games, with only Shawn Layden speaking at the beginning and the end. It was a 10/10 conference.

B- this year for Xbox? Wtf dude. There wasn't shit. C- AT BEST. I'd give it a D.

And a lot of other shit on top of that, also nothing wrong with anything you quoted.

>2016
>C+
LMAO
A fucking orchestra and announcements of 5 new AAA exclusive games.

>Nothing wrong with Detroit: Become Human

Your taste is not the universal truth retard, there is definitely nothing wrong with Detroit:Become Human. Also you keep cherrypicking more and more as you are running out of arguments. Now the conference is shit because of Detroit?

Everything past 2007 is an F-

It isn't, but the best E3 of all generation? Best E3 ever? That's far reaching.

>It moved up from C+ for Keanu
A single actor/character means nothing for the overall quality of the game. He was on stage for like two minutes and didn't do a thing, aside from stating release date (something that we should have known by now). I would trade his reveal for a bit of actual uninterrupted gameplay in a heartbit.

>They didn't have the gameplay, but they did still have a lot of games.
Most of which are either obligatory sequels everyone expected, DLC or (in case of GRRM and FromSoftware game) were a common knoweledge already (and it still got a vague CGI trailer that doesn't tell anything).
The worst thing is that most of CGI trailers were for the games that already were announced last year, so it's not even "wow, x franchise is coming back!" situation.
Your presentation have some issues if the biggest suprise there is the Microsoft Flight Simulator.

I didn't say the best but one of the best ever which is the truth. And is definitely the best in the generation. In the OP, every Microsoft conference this gen has at least the same score, this year's was apparently better, how the fuck does that make any sense?

How autistic do you have to be to remember E3 from 4 years ago and beyond?

Put a trip on so I can filter you

I know Keanu objectively does nothing for the game or the conference, I just really like him and his presence made me enjoy it more.

Which is why it would only have gotten a C+ without Keanu. Not having big announcements doesn't necessarily make it shit, to me it just means it isn't great. C+ is barely above an average score remember. Taken on what they did show? Meh. It was fine.

Literally Keanu. If that seems unfair, it's only because it absolutely is. I'm not trying to be a wall of objectivity here, Sony had way better highlights in 2016 than Microsoft did this year, I will absolutely agree with that. Like, fuck that other guy, having not played it yet, I'm STILL interested in Detroit. But Playstation VR and Days Gone pissed me off, nothing in Microsoft's conference did. To me it's a great conference with serious faults vs a middling conference featuring action star I really like being a likeable dude. I'll stand by it, but also accept you calling me an asshole for it. You certainly wouldn't be wrong.

That doesn't make any sense. Revealing big games should top a celebrity appearance but whatever.
That still doesn't explain that apparently the conference when Sony announced five AAA exclusives and literally ruin e3 for themselves for the rest of the gen as they had nothing else only manages to tie with the worst conference from Microsoft in this gen.

>No metroid prime 4
They only just restarted development you stupid fuck, it was never going to happen.

I gave Microsoft a lower score in 2016, you'll notice.

That's what this thread aims to find out. I'm sure you noticed I've set the bar quite high.
