You are also not far away from double slash and the ultima weapons, which completely outdo everything else in the game except limits and KotR.

You have to master comet or contain like 7 times, its a pain in the ass

8 Bolt 3's, 8 steal attempts, 2 attacks, and the caster ends up with a lot more MP than it cost to cast in the first place. Also heals you. Also does this when you are attacked. It's a powerful as fuck combination and one of many creative things you can do with materia you won't be able to do in the remake.

well it was modified to use the energy from the mako reactors but it was taken from Junon

This E3 showcase has me actually hopeful about the gameplay for the first time since the initial announcement, but I still need a couple more specific details before I'm sold.
If I can guarantee that the game will hand over control as soon as any of my character's ATBs are full, even if I'm not currently controlling them, then this might actually be a slight improvement on the old ATB FFs (not necessarily better than pure turn based, but that's a separate argument).
If I have to choose between giving them a set of pre-selected behaviors and commands, switching rapidly to hope to catch them before they take action themselves, or just leave combat decisions up to the AI, then it could get annoying.

I'm okay with the combat. It's not turn based, it was never gonna be, but it seems like you can play it in a mostly ATB way and that's cool.
What I'm worried about is two other things

1) Holy cinematic moly. The stretched out the scorpion boss from a 1 minute battle into a 15 minutes one with a SHIT TON of cutscenes and cinematic things happening during it. They're REALLY trying to spread Midgar out thin enough to last for a 60 dollar game

2) Obviously, the episodic shit. They haven't even STARTED on episode 2 yet. And episode 2 onwards will clearly be a PS5/PC thing instead of PS4/PC (yes, they're coming to the PC later on, only a clown would think otherwise).

That's just insane. They expect you to fork over 60 bucks every 4 years for the next two decades until you finally got the full game? Are they out of their minds?
I'll just wait for a complete FF7R collection that is all-in-one with everything included on the PC. Gonna be good in 2040.

Stagger was in FF13 to force you to switch paradigms more often. Since that system isn't in FF7 hopefully they'll do something fun with it. I am concerned that normal attacks seem to do piss all damage, though, they might as well just remove them if they don't do anything other than build your bar.

Materia has a slight glow, and the game world seems pretty dark so it shouldn't be a problem unless they've gone out of their way to hide it like they did with some in the original game. Even then, being able to move your camera should still make it easier to find.

They've only recently started doing it for serious AAA ENGLISH releases; it'll probably be another fucking decade before they do it for Japanese game localizations. It's the same reason there's such a MASSIVE drop in VA quality from Xenoblade Chronicles 1 to 2; different director with no theater experience, he didn't bother to actually try to direct his actors. VA outside of those big budget AAA western games is basically treated as a one-take sort of thing in the games industry.

If you want better voice acting, then you need game companies to start realizing that you can't just throw an actor in a room, say "Can you do the Nathan Drake voice?", and call it a fucking day.

It's okay. Some people do a really good job, others do a mediocre job. Happens a lot when you don't have actor direction - some people are in fact good enough to just go out, no direction, and nail a one-take. I've done it before, I've had friends to do it before, and I've worked with people who do it. However, other people work best with direction, and I have friends who are best at that too. At the start, they'll be mediocre at best, but when they work with the director they get a lot better over time and their performance improves by the end.

Of course, this is all theatre/commercial/film/tv based. In games voice directors barely ever exist, or its the actual creative director of the game trying to autistically talk to someone far more attractive then he is when he's barely able to vocalize three sentences without stammering. This is also why female voice acting in video games is so much worse generally then male.

90% of a robot (As compared to just a machine that is controlled by a human or does a single action over and over again) is computing brainlet.
Making the physical parts to move around is simple engineering, the having a computer and programming to make it actually DO that by itself is the hard part.

The robots in the game are almost all autonomous machines not controlled by humans, ergo they need incredibly sophisticated computers and programming/coding to make that happen.

The issue is that the publishers and artists of manga realized they could expand their consumer base with large numbers of young girls if they made the guys look attractive to them, and young girls generally responded best to bishonen "cute" guys as opposed to rugged "manly" men.

Cloud and sephiroth's designs are a symptom of attempting to attract young girls.

I am upset that they basically nerfed almost every bit of sexiness about her design, but god damn they made her really pretty. Tifa's been my girl for a long time, they did her wrong in Advent Children, they did her okay in Dissidia, its good to see her return to form, I just wish they did all of her as good as her face.

Because it's a trailer, not the final game. Different segments recorded at different stages of development, or by different people, could vary for multiple reasons.
For example; it could be that the final game would have a different weapon available before that point, and Hardedge's model was used because someone needed to balance test the battle and the actual model for that sword wasn't made yet so they used Hardedge's instead. Also the motocycle scene in the trailer isn't even in the original game, so there's no telling whether or not they should have Hardedge by that point.
