you can only pick one
You can only pick one
>fifthgen
but this is ass. the 6th gen was the best gen and had all the best games.
can you imagine all the amazing 2D games we could have gotten on the saturn if 3D games wasnt being pushed by just about every game dev?
I didn't and still don't know anyone who owned a saturn
Stadia. Nips should have been bombed out of existence and all weebs should get cancer and die immediately.
N64 because i'm a Mario 64 autist and still play & enjoy the variety of romhacks the community has made about it.
SOTN kicks ass though.
psx just nudges out n64, saturn isn't even in the race
PS1.
Ps1 had both quality and quantity so im going with that
playstation of course
I'll take MGS, RE and dino crisis and finally digimon world 2000 over anything from the other side tbqh
like, it's not even a competition
playstation by a fucking mile obviously
The PS1 created 3 masterpieces, but the Nintendo 64 won overall.
I own both a 64 and Playstation. While I do own more games for the Playstation, a lot of them you have to dedicate your time to if you play them, while 64 is more for just "Pick up and play". It's all a matter of preference, really.
>saturn isn't even in the race
It has the objective best games of the gen, and its games have aged the least.
3D was the future
even SEGA was pushing it before the Saturn
I was the PSX boy. Never knew anyone into N64, always the smelly weirdos.
Saturn had 0 presence here
PS1 no doubt.
(Almost) All must play N64 titles ended up on other platforms anyhow.
N64. OoT and sm64 are enough but then you take into account nothing on ps1 is actually fun now, aged terribly.
>Starfox 64 but with dragons
Yeah, no.
The only games worth playing on the PS1:
>Resident Evil 1,2,3
>Metal Gear Solid
>Silent Hill
Sweetie, Starfox 64 is Panzer Dragoon but with furries. Nintendo directly lifted its gameplay from someone else, as it always has with everything.
played ps1 and n64 when those were new. never even saw saturn. i'd pick ps1. it just had more quality games overall in my opinion.
i think you missed
>Ridge Racer TYPE 4
>Ace Combat
>Twisted Metal 2
>all of the WipeOut games
>Gran Turismo
>Tekken 1 2 and 3
>Primal Rage
>Legend of Dragoon
>Tomba
>Spyro the Dragon
>Klonoa
>Vigilante 8
>Tony Hawks Pro Skater
>Tomb Raider (dont even bother naming that piece of shit Saturn port)
>Symphony Of The Night
>Vib Ribbon
>Syphon Filter
>Driver
>Rayman
>Suidoken
and im probably still missing hundreds of games
Post Bob's and vagene.
the n64 has 10 or so good games in total
>m64
>f zero
>OOT
>MM
>paper mario
>Smash 64
>wave race
>star fox
>maybe a mario kart 64 and a banjo-kazooie
now over on PS1 we have
>ff vii
>ff viii
>ff ix
>mgs
>grandia
>spyro 1-3
>crash 1-3
>SOTN
>ape escape
>chrono cross
>vagrant story
>ff tactics
>sf alpha 2
>sf alpha 3
>tekken 1-3
>resi 1-3
>gran turismo 1-2
>crash team racing
>parappa
>abe's oddyssey and exodus
>silent hill
>wipeout
>tomb raider
>persona 1-2
it's no contest, n64 barely even has half of the genres that the ps1 had.
Hell, N64 can barely pull ahead of Saturn if you include japanese libraries, it just has a way better wstern nostalgia presence.
>NiGHTS
>bets version of SOTN
>best version of grandia
>burning rangers
>saturn bomberman
>panzer dragoon
>best versions of the capcom fighting games
>virtua fighter series
>policenauts
>shining force
>gunstar heroes
Saturn. It had all the best fight game ports.
But if it's like I'm on and island alone or some shit probably PS1.
Panzer Dragoon ripped off star fox idiot
Based. For me, it would have to be the N64. I don't think the N64 was actually good, but I do think it was better than the Shitstation and the Shaturn. That entire generation was a steaming dumpster fire that was vastly inferior to both the 4th and 6th generations. All the developers were putzing around trying to make 3D games that they didn't know how to make on hardware that wasn't ready for it. The overwhelming majority of it deserves to be buried in the desert and forgotten. The few exceptions, like Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64, were on the N64. Therefore, I give the N64 the win by virtue of being the least shitty console of that generation
>Twisted Metal 2
not exclusive
>all of the WipeOut games
not exclusive
>Primal Rage
not exclusive
>Tomb Raider
not exclusive
>Symphony Of The Night
not exclusive
>Driver

>Rayman

>Suidoken

there are plenty of good 2D games on saturn and ps1 and none on N64
N64
>into the screen shooter
Guess who did that first?
Sega literally invented the on-rails shooter zoom zoom. And in case you hadn't noticed the original Star Fox doesn't have a lock on mechanic.
>the saturn has no gam-
show me the N64 or Saturn ports then
>bets version of SOTN
I'm a massive Saturn fag but no it fucking doesn't, Saturn SOTN is unplayable.
Like what?
I grew up with snes and I don't even know what a saturn is.
that Webm has every saturn game worth looking at
you're a big fag if you think panzer dragoon's gameplay is 'original'
couldn't remember the name of this shitshow, nice
Banjo Bros know who to pick.
saturn has no games is a dumb western meme that people still push
over in japan they still love the saturn
RIIIIIDGE RACERRRR
Bitch use google. Also half those games were released on PC too.
>you're a big fag if you think panzer dragoon's gameplay is 'original'
user, Sega literally invented the genre. Panzer Dragoon is their first attempt at bring it into 3D.
Saturn is the patrician's choice. The only bad thing about it is that 70% of the library is Japan exclusive. If all of the games were in English, it'd be much more fondly remembered.
and most Saturn games where on Arcades, who cares?
you can count the amount of people that bought those games on PC on one hand
hell im pretty sure most of the world doesnt even know these ports exist
>Alundra
>Dino crisis 1 and 2
>Azure dreams
>Breath of fire 3
>Rival schools
>Treasure of the deep
>Bloody roar
yeah that list sounds about alright
PS1 beats the fuck out of N64. Saturn has some really good games but I'm not sure if the quality makes up for the lack of quantity.
SOTN
rayman
capcom fighting games
guardian heroes
saturn bomberman
abe's oddyssey
megaman 8
metal slug
tomba 1-2
batsugun (and the other saturn shmups)
puzzle fighter
>SOTN is a butchered port of the PS1
>Tomb Raider runs at a smooth 10 FPS
>in fact all 3D games are laughable on Saturn
the saturn and the ps1 libraries are far more varied than the n64
the n64 seemed to have about four genres
>and most Saturn games where on Arcades, who cares?
Last I checked the average person wasn't willing to invest $10,000 on one (1) arcade cabinet in the 90s.
>hell im pretty sure most of the world doesnt even know these ports exist
This doesn't mean they didn't. I grew up for example playing Tomb Raider, WipeOut, Resident Evil, Toshindin, Metal Gear Solid, and Turok on PC.
fuck off sony shills. reminder YOU are responsible for killing sega. you killed the only good company in gaming and should be ashamed of yourselves.
>he will damage control whilst owning several sega published games
Thanks
Fuck you. Saturn got nothing released in the west because of Sega of America's retarded executives. N64 has Mario, Mario Kart, Star Fox, Zelda, and Banjo-Kazooie. They shouldn't have gotten into a feud with Squaresoft.
>those don't count!
>>in fact all 3D games are laughable on Saturn
Oh ok so you're either trolling or unaware
Sony was responsible for the 32X and the disastrous launch of the Saturn?
*blocks your path*
>the Saturn could've caused a videogame industry crash like Atari's 2600 did
Scary thought.
>company kills itself
>blame the competition
Are you a bit dim?
>>the Saturn could've caused a videogame industry crash like Atari's 2600 did
It literally couldn't have. What is your retarded logic for this?
and most people wernt willing to invest 5000+ on a PC in the 1990's.
PC was a non factor like Arcades
Sega killed themselves with their retarded Japanese branch
PC gaming by the late 90s had significantly come down in price to about the current prices adjusted for inflation, nice job posting an early 90s computer.
Psx>saturn >n64
>i like playing downright unplayable ports
good for you i guess
oh shit how could I forget abe's also;
>Tenchu
>Spiderman 1/2
>Crash bandicoot
>medal of honor
>NFS hot pursuit
>Future cop LAPD
there, that's the final list
The hardware was shit and sold like shit. The games were pretty bad too. Like Clockwork Knight. If Pacman and ET were the fatal blow that let the 2600 take the videogame industry down with it then Sega's high IQ dumpster fires on the Saturn was going to start a repeat. Atari and Sega both are companies that are fondly remembered despite the absolute danger they posed to videogaming.
I mean, I loved sega, I had a master system, a mega drive (genesis) and even a game gear, but then sony came with its big balls and showed them who's boss
the saturn and the dreamcast weren't even sold around where I lived, so fuck them lmao
Sega should have just taken the deal Sony offered them
they could have stopped Playstation and still be alive today
>the n64 has 10 or so good games in total
>No San Francisco Rush 2049
>No Goldeneye 007
>NO POKEMON STADIUM 1/2
>The hardware was shit
Sure
>sold like shit.
Because people were fucking pissed that Sega was asking for another $400 after buying a genesis, sega cd and 32X, plus all the other fuckups they made trying to sell the Saturn like the surprise launch. Without those it would have done fine, at least as well as the N64
>clockwork knight comparable to ET and pacman 2600
Have you played all 3 games?
More like GAYstation. More like Sega Sadturd. More like Niggtendo 64.
sega should have become a MS subsidiary and sold rebranded xbox's as sega consoles. would have been better for xbox and sega combined.
goldeneye sucks ass now, same with perfect dark
pokemon stadium is a glorified add on
I've never played san francisco rush 2049 so I'll take your word for it
PS1.
seriously name even 1 (one) racing game from the era as good as this
pro tip: you fucking cant
sega killed the saturn moron
>DUDE IT'S $399 AND ITS OUT TOMORROW
I owned a 64, but Playstation had the best games at a quarter the price.
Never bothered with Nintendo after that.
NSP.
>Sega invented the arcade shooter
wasn't that Atari when they made Asteroids?
There is so much wrong with this post.
>The hardware was shit and sold like shit
The hardware for 1993 was NOT shit, it just had the misfortune of being released alongside a more powerful machine a year later with next to no development resources given to third parties to help them make sense of its complicated architecture. Sega itself didn't have a firm grasp on the machine as evidenced by Daytona USA and VF. By late 1995 Sega had developed their SGL development kit and the results were technical triumphs like VF2, Sega Rally, and Virtua Cop 1-2. It selling like shit is a symptom of their initial incompetence, not an inevitability.
>Clockwork Knight
Clockwork knight was not shit, what the fuck are you smoking? At most it's a bit uninspired, but game journalists at the time praised it nonetheless.
>If Pacman and ET were the fatal blow that let the 2600 take the videogame industry down
God you have a fundamental misunderstanding of the video game industry circa 1983. For starters, Atari Pacman sold like hot cakes and was generally well regarded. ET was a flop but that was because Atari expected literally every 2600 owner up to that point to buy a copy and therefore massively overproduced the game. It didn't KILL them, that was a result of the general over-saturation of video game consoles, and low quality software in the industry.
Also note: the video game crash EXCLUSIVELY affected NORTH AMERICAN CONSOLES. No other market was affected, and computer gaming in NA was booming at the time.
Holy fuck you don't know shit, I'm not even going to respond to that last bit.
the ON-RAILS shooter you retarded zoomer.
We're talking about into the screen shooters, like space harrier and after burner
None, the fifth generation sucked.
Star Wars on the Atari ST released before all those
Saturn.
I pick Nintendo for basically every Gen, and yet I still prefer PSX over N64.
The games are not only better, but there's more of them. Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time aren't worth giving up everything on PSX.
Which Saturn emulator should i use? Already tried retro arch and that thing won't work in my toaster.
>Saturn Emulator
user...
That crash was straight up just atari mongoloid
ps1 is the only one with games, so it's a no-brainer.
Just buy a fucking Saturn and mod it.
Best way to play Saturn games.
sony didn't kill sega. soj killed sega.
the only reliable way to play saturn games is to get a saturn
Based /vr/ poster
I remember that years ago i finished Dragon Force and was able to play Saturn Bomberman.
SSF or mednafen
alternatively if your game won't work on those get a real saturn and use PSKai or buy a satiator once it releases (don't support the faggot who makes the Saturn ODEs)
I'd still pick Playstation.
I'm a Nintendo person but nothing from the N64 has really clicked for me. Plus I like JRPGs, so I am a little biased.
don't know anything about clockwork knight, but otherwise seems okay post so have a reply.
as far as I can tell the best saturn emulator is still SSF but I don't know if it still gets updates
I can see where you're going with this. Sonic 3D Blast showed some obvious cracks in what Sega was doing. And a lot of the games that tried to do 3D (actual 3D, unlike 3D Blast) were absolutely horrendous. It's good the industry was finally healthy enough to just cut Sega loose.
It just got one a week ago
twitter.com
ps1
64 only has 1-2 games that I like and I can't even name 3 saturn games
oh nice
going to download it now
Meanwhile, everyone I knew back in the day had a Saturn. Saturn was the system for geeks, N64 was the system for kids, PS1 was the system for casuals.
PSX
honestly i just miss gen 4,5 and 6 in general
they felt like the last times devs where pushing for releasing a complete and satisfying product, instead of making half baked with DLC or with a service model in mind just so it can keep making money and they can keep pumping out sequels
hell almost every E3 is basicly 99% sequels and shitty reboots
where did it all go so wrong
wave race sucks ass you dumb faggot
eat a dick nigger faggot
how does it feel to be the wrongest person in the known universe
I miss when it seemed like devs didn't actively hate the consumer.
dumb zoomer
