Because it's not well written, it's not that it's too comedic. It's that it's bad comedy, it turn up the "lol so random" to 11 while also being somewhat out of character.

Oh shit, I'm sorry. Memory's foggy on it obviously, but I did enjoy Battle of the Atom.

Let me explain. Back when the character was first getting big, he was written by Joe Kelly. Joe Kelly added a lot humor to the series but he very much wrote Wade like the tragic clown. There was a deep element of self loathing and depression beneath all the jokes. Wade was honestly trying his hardest to be a super hero but either by whim of fate, circumstance or his own bad habits just kept falling short. He was not LOLRANDOM WACKY. He was a sick man, who does sick things realizing just how sick he was. There was a nice character arc, strong motivation and genuine emotion. Now after he got popular, writers just latch on to the LOLWACKY CHIMICHANGA aspect and completely miss how messed up and nuanced the character is. And outside of Rick Remender years later no one else really got this.

Looks promising on the gameplay side. I only skimmed through this but most of the menuing they seemed to do was just randomly changing characters every chance they got. I did however see that some items were dropping and that characters had levels associated. So is there any growth that goes with this or do they just get slightly more hp and damage? Is there unlocking of new special moves, or unique upgrades or power ups for each character?

Nicieza had that shit locked down for the entirety of Cable & Deadpool, and is the one responsible for the popular revival of the character, without him Way never would have had a reason to come in and do the damage he did.

And as mentions, Posehn/Duggan also did a good job in the wake of Waypool.

All I remember was the unnecessarily loud but always welcome COMBO when you used a skill with a teammate.

You got damage bonuses in MUA1 for doing certain powers at the same time but it didn't have any big visual effect or anything, it would just come up with a cool name and how much extra damage you got. MUA2 gave everyone paired super attacks although some of them were very similar to each other (like, Iron Man and Cap's super is Cap reflects repulsor blasts off his shield. Iron Man and Wolverine's is Wolverine reflects repulsor blasts off his claws)

As someone who's a big fan of both characters, I didn't really like either show to be honest. Both were written totally wrong and the actors for both were miscast as well. A H4H Netflix show wouldn't have worked since the core dynamic from the books that makes it fun doesn't exist in the shows.

Here's hoping they get movie reboots. Iron Fist in particular could use a big budget flick.
