honestly I find it one of the most fun games to play if I just want to do a quick run through all the stages. The gimmick isn't that overbearing, I can understand the complaints about characters though. Stage 4 and extra stage stand out as having really bad characters. Though Seija and Shimmy have only gotten better with time with ISC and the Grimoire of Usami

iirc ZUN had said in an interview that he felt like he needed to outdo the previous game at the time, but he realized he couldn't keep up with that kind of workload and dropped that idea.

Tempest of Heaven and Earth is pretty good so far, I'm on stage 4 and pulling off combos is really satisfying even though I suck at it and just button mash sometimes.
Touhou Luna Nights is another fantastic game and i'm waiting for the final update to come out in 2 days. The only gripe I have with this game (and many others) is that it's really short, but this update should supplement that a bit

For me it was stage 4 and some of Patchouli's non-spell, then after that I could manage everything until Remi's final spell where I could just spammed everything I have.

EoSD is just too old. No hitbox, controls feel weird and most patterns are boring. PCB is miles ahead in terms of quality and IN is so much better it's unreal.

I like that you assume that I haven't beaten UFO, despite me not liking. I'll give it that it has good music and cast, but that's almost true for all other touhou games, especially music wise.

It's the most intrusive and annoying gimmick in the series to date. Even LoLK, despite its gimmick being hard for newcomers, encouraged skillful play by grazing bullets in order to get resources, which is something already people do passively while dodging. UFO is playing chase with a piece of shit, hoping that it doesn't change color in the process.

WBaWC is shaping up to be even better than LoLK desu.

Ever since I started playing touhou games (started with EoSD), SA had been an almost impenetrable wall in terms of clearing it.

When I first managed to cleared it, it opened up door for the other games I couldn't clear, and I was able to take on extra stages.

How? The only thing ZUN need to get around is designing the aimed pattern and bosses movements but even it shouldn't be that hard.
ZUN has made crazy gimmicky stuff before, sometimes so it'll work with the game mechanic, so I think he could manage it if he want to.

I was talking about her fight on Lunatic. It isn't that different from Normal, to be honest. Her one hard attack becomes even harder but still, it's only one spell card while other bosses have quite a few annoying attacks.

My guess is that ZUN made both her and Futo so easy because people bitched about UFO being too hard.

Understandable. I thought the same thing but pieced things together shortly after since you access your boxes at the Pokemon Center in Pokemon games.

It's between Marisa, Meiling, Patchouli, Yuyuko, Yukari, Kaguya, Suwako, Parsee, Koishi, Kogasa, Byakuren, Miko and Mamizou. Those are the most impressive in terms of geometry, color and themes and some of them even draw stuff with their danmaku. Iku and Satori are pretty good too but we've seen like only four of their spellcards.

Over all my vote goes to Kaguya but I think
Parsee has the prettiest one.

You don't need to get too heavily invested in EVs unless you're aiming to reincarnate a powerful puppet with basically perfect stats, but it doesn't hurt to hunt for a puppet with decent EVs in the wild. On that note, I have two suggestions for you to seal
>Defense Yoshika (Style Changes are granted at Level 30)
>Has the Inverse Reaction ability, halving all incoming Light/Dark damage
>Power Spot (Heals 50% maxhp on the next turn, and can be used when swapping out)
>Shinigami Waltz (Spend 50% maxhp to damage the enemy for 25% of their maxhp every turn)
>STUPIDLY high health and defense, even with crap EVs
A really good fatty tank character. I had a hard time dying with just one of these on my team since she can tank so much damage, a team of six would be unbeatable with the right setup. There's also no puppets that are immune to Shinigami Waltz's effect, so it's an easy cheese.

I don't need to say much about this. She's an absolutely busted puppet, shreds through just about anything. I'd recommend good EVs on her if nothing else simply because of how much easier it makes the endgame if you're not using the Shard of Dreams expansion, which balances things to be easier.

Well she doesn't show up in GoU unlike the other two sages, it's a possibility. A very improbable one

Stage 1 and Stage 5 themes has so many great ones is hard to choose. It's worth mentioning that HSiFS and WBaWC Stage 1 are strong contender. In the end ZUN never lost his touch.
