If you want to min/max in accordance to races, Gnomes are the best for spellcasters on the alliance.

They're just so stupid looking though. You can also count on getting absolutely demolished by undead rogues in PVP if you're an alliance cloth wearer, especially human warlocks. It's a tossup for mages though and if you're able to get a DoT on the rogue after you blink away.
