people shit on painkiller for the arena style combat but other than that it really was an amazing shooter imo. People can fly studio working on Witchfire is what makes me excited for it, maybe that will be the game that scratches the Painkiller itch.

Is Overdose or H&D worth it?

What was also cool was how for each of those levels they had their own themed enemies like simple zombies for the graveyard or pirates for the mines or cultists for the cathedral or actual commies for leningrad and especially those things in the orphanage and many more.

Some of the later levels are really amazing. The old monastery is my favorite, kill everything and relax.
Logan Barnes
I hated the "normal" levels like the military base or opera. What a bore.
I want to believe. I just can't believe after all these years nothing's come close to Painkiller.

>people shit on painkiller for the arena style combat but other than that it >...other than that there isn't much else. Painkiller sucks

i think both of those are fan made and not nearly as good as the original, I think I remember playing through like half of overdose before uninstalling

sure there is user, the level design and variety in themes, varied enemy design, weapons have a great feel to them and have many different uses each, tarot cards are fun to collect and play with, secrets are fairly well hidden and are fun to hunt down and it looked great back when it came out. I guess I should have been more thorough in my original post. Haven't played it in a long time, but overall I have very fond memories of it.

So black edition is still the best.

Serious Sam 2 has a good deal of variety in level themes and stuff

Wasn't it mostly Egypt? Though I guess there was that snowy town.

ss2 is all over the place

That's the First Encounter. Although Serious Sam 2 is the black sheep of the franchise, some people love it, others hate it. The game did a radical change of artstyle

I'll have to take another look. It's been a while.

You could say, you have to take a "second encounter"
