Free Grand Prix seasons that you can take part in. Completing challenges fills up a "nitro cauge" (think xp), that unlocks decals, karts alternate skins and characters at certain threshpoints.

Do not worry about missing out if you do not fill the cauge full during the season. All items supposedly get added to the pit stop shop and you can use wumpa coins you get from playing to buy all the things.

they will add more characters and tracks post-launch in "seasons", which are kinda like free DLCs (you do objectives to unlock characters), when a season ends the characters and skins become grindable by simply playing

there's no season pass or anything, or microtransactions of any kind, just the upfront cost of the game

they didn't confirm brio, kong or nina, but they're very likely to be confirmed soon or be included in a future season

they did also confirm a Spyro season and a Baby T/Baby Crash/Baby Coco season

They’re finally being given the opportunity to do something bigger and better. As small irrelevant developers owned by huge companies they don’t get much say in what they make, but they’ve done their time pumping out shovelware and earned their bosses’ trust and now get to work on something they actually want to do. I’m actually pretty keen to see what Vicarious Visions, Toys for Bob and Beenox do next since they’ve finally established themselves as competent teams who can make a quality product that also makes tons of money. Can they keep it up and keep putting out great games, or were they flukes? Either way we win, if they were flukes at least we got the one good game out of them, if they keep on putting out good games then we have one more good dev studio out there. The industry is pretty shit at the moment but it’s AA studios like these that are our best bet at good games.

A while. I’m in the process right now. It’s very slow going but if you go about it the right way then you WILL see improvements no matter how terrible you are at the start. I’d recommend the book ‘Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain’ as the absolute best starting point for literally any aspiring artist. Even if you draw like a schizophrenic toddler with whatever that disease Michael J Fox has, its still gonna apply to your skill level. The drawing exercises that is, a lot of the author’s theory is unsubstantiated and might not help at all depending on your mindset. Also, the /ic/ guide in the sticky there is actually quite good as a starting point too.

Yeah they’re three separate studios but all owned by Activision. VV did Crash Nitro Kart and the GBA games, then a bunch of other shovelware until they were given the Crash remake project. TfB are the guys who made Skylanders. They wanted to make a proper Spyro game at first but due to poor management and executive meddling it was going to be a literal M rated edgy reboot, which thankfully they managed to get cancelled. After Skylanders they were chosen for the remakes since they had history with the franchise. Beenox are the least qualified of the three since they have no prior history with the franchise, the only games of note they’ve made are a couple of shitty Spider-Man shovelware titles. Probably why they’ve gone all out with CTR, they had more to prove than the other two.

The Spyro remake was pretty good, but some areas are a little rough. They had to outsource a lot of asset creation to get it done on time, so 2 and more so 3 can feel less cohesive since the assets weren’t made by TfB themselves. The remake of 1 is better than the original in every way, the remake of 2 is on par with the original and the remake of 3 is also about on par, but less polished and a little bit glitchy. Still all really good.

There was a bit of censorship in the first game however, in Twilight Harbour all the Gnorc guns are replaced with cartoony guns that shoot pink slime. Kind of understandable since in the original they were straight up AKs which aren’t allowed in children’s games anymore for obvious reasons, but it was a little disappointing. Guns in 2 and 3 remain uncensored in account of already being really cartoony and not resembling real life ARs in any way.

Yes, the skins are the only content exclusive to the Oxide edition. Characters will unlockable the same as all other racers.

The characters and Oxide's kart are unlockable. The skins and stickers are exclusive.

All the characters are unlockable normally, the only things you can’t unlock without it are some of the skins and stickers.

I hope they use it (with tweaks) in whatever future games they make. I suspect the NST design was created solely because they wanted to stick to the general design and color scheme of the originals, instead of the newer, CNK era colors used on the Skylanders model.

Gameplay is more engaging and fast-paced because the boost system rewards you for chaining combos. Tracks are generally well designed with fewer gimmick stages than Mario Kart.

Weapons system is less retarded too, you can actually block this game's blue shell for example and you can get decent power ups in 2nd place like the star equivalent

You also have to be good at the game to make your weapons worth using, if you don't stay juiced then your weapons are pretty much useless.
