>"At E3 this week, it was revealed that Ys Net's crowdfunded RPG sequel Shenmue III will be an Epic Games Store exclusive when it launches on PC this November. This late-in-the-day reveal has angered a selection of the title's backers, who originally expected a Steam code of the PC release. Upon announcement, the Kickstarter page was immediately hit with a flood of complaints."
>"Shenmue III will be distributed through the Epic Games Store and will require the Epic Games Store Client to activate. We apologize for the sudden change in platform, however, refunds will not be granted for this change. We thank you for your support and look forward to delivering the Shenmue experience fans everywhere have been waiting so long for."
>giving anything to kikestarter >paying people to make the product you buy i bet you donated to his patreon too
Austin Rodriguez
I wouldn't invest shit for anything a company wants to sell me. They can get their own investment money, so I'm glad all the little cucks who gave away their own money are getting cucked.
Carter Phillips
$0 I'm also not a virgin so I don't care what distributor a game dev partners with
Lincoln White
0$. I was going to pirate it anyway.
Luke Flores

Alexander Adams
Why not just give the backers a DRM free copy? Easiest way to do damage control, basically served on a platter.
>We thank you for your support So what do the people get who do not support them anymore, except for a denial of refund?
Parker Campbell
>sue What for? Even if they were promised Steam keys, they'll get them. It's just Steam release that got delayed by few fucking years, but they still releasing the game in time, just not on Steam. You can't outjew the jews.
Leo Cox
credit card chargeback. Its pretty simple.
Wyatt Clark
just give the stupid fuckers who donate money steam keys. it's not that hard. few other sudden timed random store exclusive games already did that.
Hunter Rivera
> promised PC digital version > will deliver PC digital version Am I missing something?
>Even if they were promised Steam keys, they'll get them No they wont, they'll get Epic-version copies instead which is why this shitstorm started up in the first place. The backers dont even get a choice of what DRM they want to fuck their ass
Anthony Wright
$0
Sega and the original devs have nothing to do with this sequel so fuck that. Yakuza games are the true sequels.
Aaron Bennett
But if they don't force people to use the Epic store, Epic won't give them bribe money. The whole point of this is Epic bribing them to force the backers to install the Epic store.
Dylan Butler
$30 bucks, first of the few KS i've backed that's disappointed me in any way shape or form, out of Hyper Light Drifter, Shantae, this, and Bloodstained (and some bird guy action figures)
Adding Deep Silver and Yu Suzuki's company to blacklists, and have switched my version to PS4 (the backer survey page still lists it as Steam for PC though go figure), but sucks for people who don't have that option. $30 isn't a big deal really but it does send a message, so that'll be the last of their games I get. Maybe Kingdom Come once it goes sub $15.
I spent $0 on any kickstarter They might get in trouble if the people who funded read the requirements that the studio has to do when they deliver on the stuff they promise But people who give money to kickstarter don't know how to read those so they are safe
Jace Ortiz
>tfw stopped supporting both Kickstarters and Indies Fuck both, I'll sooner support AAA games than touch Tim Sweeney's store.
Gabriel Brooks
0$ >ever giving money to a kike-starter
David Clark
Dumb epic shill
Jaxon Barnes
Can't people take PS4 option and just sell it? Seems to be the most reasonable option.
Oliver Brooks
because kickstarter backers are retarded there's no need to do anything for them
Jayden Foster
>Promise steam >Get a whiff of that egs fortnite cash >Go egs exclusive >What 10-20% of our backers want refund? >Fuck you no refund Unless something has changed this is against kickstarter rules. Changing a "promise" makes you eligible for refund i think I hope this turns into a shitshow like usual with egs exclusives Everyone hates (forced) exclusives and publishers/devs try to hide it until the last second
Jose Reyes
I didn't donate but from now on I will pirate every single deep silver game I want to play. Fuck them
Jason Price
>It was also noted that those ordering a physical PC edition will now receive a code for the Epic Games Store, as opposed to the originally advertised Steam code >originally advertised Steam code Assuming said kickstarter explicitly mentioned that it would release on Steam, this sounds like grounds for a chargeback because you didn't receive the product that was advertised.
Fuck that, pirate games you don't want to play too just to steal more of their money.
Blake Garcia
I can't wait for Yongout to shit on Shenmue devs
At least the other Epic sellouts offered Steam keys or offered refunds
Luke Lewis
0, my friend backed them for 100$ though and he's absolutely livid, poor guy
Jeremiah Lopez
>epic and Deep silver are in so much deep shit that they HAVE to deny steam keys that they explicitly promised to force more players onto the botnet and pump up sales numbers
Easton Russell
Epic wants to use the backers as sales numbers to boost epic game stores image
Christian Ortiz
Here's how that goes: the product offered was a game, not a key for a game, the product is the same, ergo, no grounds for redress.
Carson Reed
Just gonna dab on you Zoomer shitbags who didn't play the originals and are riding the nostalgia train of delusional boomers. The truth is the original Shitmue games were overrated garbage. Most of you will be bored out of your minds and you'll drop the game after your first hour or so. It took a certain type of autist to enjoy Shenmue games, they simply weren't that great. I'll admit I was blown away when I first beat them, but I was a child at the time. I'd never seen anything like it. But now that I can come in from an adult's perspective I can honestly say they were overhyped and fueled by nostalgia.
Why can't they just give steam keys to the people that want it?
Connor Roberts
>implying steam wants to host a game for free
Jordan Gutierrez
Bringing this way of thinking to its extreme means they could advertise a game as "X" console exclusive and then change it to "Y" console at any point because its still a game
Sebastian Mitchell
There really isn't anything quite like it, though. People seem to think that Shenmue was/is like Yakuza, but it's an adventure game with fighting elements.
Hunter Peterson
retard
Cameron Flores
They don't want more players playing shenmue on steam when its not even openly sold on the platform
Carter Russell
You invested in a product, you will get a product, you don't deserve shit.
Juan Jones
Technically not broken, since they'll still be giving steam keys, but a year late most likely.
Elijah Rivera
Yeah but like wasn't Metro Exodus at least pre-ordable on steam before it left?
You’re missing that the initial promise was a steam version, not a PC release.
Austin Adams
1. It's not sold on the platform 2. Xi Jinping will get mad
Parker Foster
Epic bad, China ugabuga. Tibet and pooh. Am I cool now?
Isaac Murphy
Pirating a game you don't want to play is retarded. Nobody benefits or is hurt and you're just wasting hard disk pace. Unless you're pirating specifically to seed the torrent. That's fine then.
Jaxson Wright
This is hilarious. The refund amounts probably aren't going to be huge but all that kickstarter money is likely gone, meaning the devs couldn't refund if they wanted. They would need to borrow more money from Deep Silver, further deepening this sinkhole of a game.
Robert Moore
They could, that's not even an extreme. The game is still the product, the platform does not change the nature of the product. Now, if suddenly this made someone unable to use something they had already paid for, there's your grounds for redress, but this game will still be playable on any system it was previously.
Josiah Murphy
you'll never be a woman chinese tranny.
Wyatt Brown
Because paypigs are retarded and weak enough to just roll over and accept it
James Ortiz
No they won't. Every backer who chose PC is getting an EGS code. They aren't going to sit on handing out a backer code for a year or two just to give a steam code.
Jack Wright
Wait, these posts are getting deleted now? What the fuck
Jackson Parker
of course they can't get refunds, they paid for the game to be developed, not for the game to be on steam
Jose Martin
Yu Suzuki had KS money, Sony Money, Deepsilver money, and likely Epic's money by now. Does steam need to pitch in too?
Forgot to mention Tiananmen Square and the newly censored term "Hong Kong"
Hunter Walker
>investing in a game Do I look like a fucking investor? I just play the damn games. Or not, as in this case.
Ian Smith
If egs is good why does epic have to pay publishers to use it? Just put your game on both and give some retarded egs bonus in game like a hat Instead they pay people to fuck their customers and tries to force them to use a (so far) worse platform
Joshua Bennett
>Backing a kikestarter that takes a publisher Just don't do it. Refund the moment they announce they have a publisher. They beg you for money because publishers don't support them then they take a publisher anyway and the backer stops mattering.
Henry Ward
They were promised a steam key Now they get an Epic Store key and no Steam And people don't want to use Epic and want the Steam key they paid for
Anthony Howard
Wait I remember this. Wasn't this the one that news saying it was a record breaking kickstarter deal?
Shit that was news years ago. What's all the drama about now? That they needed epic money? I thought this already got millions from both sony and kickstarter already?
Ayden Kelly
thats what you get for beeing a retard that backs games. i bet you also preorder games cause u get "thing" for free
>unable to use something they had already paid for, not signing any epic eula makes it the person unable to use it.
Jason Barnes
When did steam become a good platform? When did I miss this?
Robert Hernandez
Valve slaves are literally Sjw tire trouble makers
Adam Edwards
Why does it matter if the launcher is good or bad? I though you bough a game and not the launcher. I don't think they even said there will be any drm. They may just put the game to download via the launcher and launch without it, like Hades.
Juan Evans
>Pay for ice cream in a cone >Get ice cream in a cup Here's your food analogy.
Samuel Clark
That's inconsequential, the OS and hardware will run it, the game will work, that's like saying not putting the disc in the tray prevents the game from running. But still, good job for finding a technicality, I doubt it'd convince anyone to give out a refund, though.
Hunter Evans
I guess people are being punished for liking a bad game
Robert Morris
Least shitty is correct. Don't count gog on it because it's highly specialized.
Chase Sanchez
Please tell me where i said steam was good? It's better than egs, but I never said it was good
Jordan Barnes
"Good" is relative in this instance DRM is never good, but Steam at least has a ton of features and shit while the EGS is completely stripped down. You'd never use EGS if not for it having exclusive games while someone that doesn't care about DRM could easily find a lot of convenience in using Steam.
Julian Campbell
because the launcher comes with a whole deal of licenses you have to sign to use it. The kickstarter explicitly stated steam not epic. Meaning you have to sign new licenses
Kevin Brown
>pay for a meme food analogy >get an accurate food analogy Is this bizarro Yea Forums?
Jaxon Lopez
Steam was mentioned. But what idiots backers failed to admit is that the devs can change the terms without notice.
Leo White
A BLOO BLOO
Austin Perry
>Imagine giving money to a scam website with no legal protection. >Imagine not reading contracts and tos.
This is litterally a check on stupidity, like lotto or ponzi schemes, or star citizen
Gavin Taylor
Yu Suzuki a hack and a fraud
Benjamin Cruz
This.
Cooper Jenkins
>That's inconsequential Not when talking about refunds and advertisement.
Matthew Wright
No it didn't. That's a lie. You were asked if you want the steam key or ps4 via survey. There was no mention of it on the main page other than digital distribution. You didn't even agree to any license. You agree when you add the key to the launcher. Nobody forces you to. You can resell the key.
Robert Flores
>replying to yourself
Chase Martinez
It's more akin to a publisher canceling physical copies and going digital only. You can still play on your platform of choice (PC) but you've lost the choice of how you boot the game.
Wyatt Nguyen
>Shenmue on Steam >has steam forums that the devs have actively used >has potential workshop shenanigans >gives a chance for me to shill it to my steam niggas because it's a niche title >can put in a good review for it if it's good to tell people to buy this niche game >etc. >Shenmue on Epic >well at least it's just one game so I don't need a shopping cart
Joshua Gomez
Valve is privately owned, when you buy a game on Steam you're supporting Gabe Newell, a jovial and harmless fat guy. Epic is owned by Tencent, when you buy a game on the EGS you're supporting a company that is quite literally evil.
Jonathan Wright
>And people don't want to use Epic and want the Steam key they paid for >they paid for
No, see this is the misconception. You aren't paying for anything on Kickstarter as there is no guarantee of a final product. You are donating your money in good faith that it will come out. The backer rewards are just a little pat on the head for being a good boy that you might not even get.
Ayden Gray
Do people hate Epic because of a premise of "well what if every game will require it's own launcher??" rather than having big issues with epic launcher itself? because they are not downright horrible and give out a free game every two weeks so while it's an inconvenience I don't see why people care just that strongly. I understand caring just not these levels of outrage.
Julian Gray
you only needed to say linux and controller support desu
Jose Walker
Steam is the cone, Epic is the cup. It's pretty accurate to say that you can eat the cone and enjoy it, while the cup is just a piece of trash.
Jonathan Perry
lmao top-tier b8 dude >cones are edible >cups aren't >cone objectively superior The food analogy already covered this argument, calm down shill.
Thats what you fucks get for giving money for something they wish to do and not promise
Parker Butler
>The backer rewards are just a little pat on the head for being a good boy that you might not even get. Read the fucking ToS.
Levi Gonzalez
no
Thomas Cox
Deleting was a crime, mfw never backed a kickstarter game. They almost never turn out well and anyone who backs them should be prepared for disappointment like this issue with Shenmue 3
No. People hate epic because their client is a chinese spybot for xi jiping.
Jose Wilson
Don't forget that Tencent is owned by the CCP so you're also supporting human rights violations perpetrated by them by using EGS
Luis Miller
user the steam release has been, canceled.
Brody Lopez
Oh right I forgot cones are edible.
I'm sorry I'm such a brainlet lads. This is why food analogies aren't for me.
Samuel Wood
>We thank you for your support I'm surprised they didn't flat out say money instead of support.
Nathaniel Richardson
No, they only hate it, because they can't add the game to their steam account
Samuel Hernandez
I haven't backed anything since Broken Age, MN9 & Ouya. First two were unfortunate but the last one is completely on me just wanting SOME new hardware when last gen wouldn't end.
Grayson Scott
>why does it matter if gamestop sucks give them your money anyway
Dylan Adams
>denuvo >can't be cracked anymore
Piracy is dead bruh.
Adam Cruz
Gabe Newell is a child molester and a tranny. Prove me wrong.
Jacob Bennett
Yeah, you missed your brain
Austin Hill
Your sarcasm is noted, now shut up, smoothbrain.
Tyler Phillips
I still find it hilarious that the devs are literally communicating with people through steam because they have no where else to reach their customers.
Parker Myers
But you didnt give them money. You gave it to kickstarter and the developer
Kevin Hall
Not after 2 years.
Elijah Morales
>can't be cracked sounds like a familiar tune.
Jordan Kelly
>tfw still can't play handball 17 i can't believe denuvo won.......
Michael Gutierrez
So what. Valve is the same far left scumbag banning many devs and hiding the Sjw policies. Both companies fucking suck. Be a clever consumer and use/trash both of those.
I hate installing all kinds of stupid software that slows my PC down, lags like motherfucker and is down every now and then. I'd rather not have Steam either but if I were to choose the lesser evil it would be Steam any fucking day of the week. If you absolutely have to have these storefronts nowadays at least make them fucking decent enough with good features, not some barebones garbage that shits up your PC for no reason other than some chinks shelled out money.
I recently had to install Origin because of a meme flavor of the month battle royale shooter my friends wanted to play and I was astonished by how awful that thing is after all these years considering it came out around BF3 release.
And then you have the chink spyware problem on top of it all.
Ethan Lopez
some of those that burn crosses are the same that buy epic some of those that burn crosses are the same that buy epic some of those that burn crosses are the same that buy epic UH
Oliver Cox
>far left scumbag banning many devs and hiding the Sjw policies what on gods earth are you on about
I hate EGS because it's a piece of shit with hardly any features that doesn't even do what it's supposed to well. EGS has given me bad download speeds since UT4 came out on Epic Launcher, while every other launcher, minus Window's Store, all utilize 100% of my connection. They've done hardly anything to even attempt to fix the issues the launcher has.
On a more personal level, I dislike Epic because of how they handled UT4 and the Fortnite alpha, but that has nothing to do with the launcher.
Jaxson Nguyen
You just can't stop being a valve slave. No fucking body cares about your shitty collection and "community". Just grow out of the stupid circlejerk
Hunter Mitchell
one year egs exclusive Then coming to steam Just give backers the steam key one year early and call it steam early access or some shit as damage control
Colton Cruz
They're literally letting Illusion launch they're waifu-sim porn games on Steam, they're as far from SJW as you can get as a company and still stay solvent.
William Kelly
I wonder who could be behind this post
Oliver Edwards
What are you yapping about you retard
Levi Wilson
See
Cooper Davis
I'm glad this taught people not to fund kickstarter shit. How fucking stupid were they anyways? The game was already being funded by Sony. All these retards deserve everything.
Kevin Smith
>No fucking body cares about your shitty collection and "community" Except the "community" that funded Shenmue 3 and is now raising a big stink about it, in addition to openly advocating piracy Funny, since the only things faggots can say about Epic are '12% cut!'
Ryan Clark
Back to the toilet, Timmy ;)
Jack Sanders
How does any other launcher slow your computer? Do not autostart it. Start the game and then close the launcher once you do. Rocket science
Christian Robinson
Did you get banned from Greenlight for trying to upload too many scam games or something?
Christopher Gomez
Aside from things already mentioned, Epic fucked over the devs with their sale. Games actually went up in price as a response. Such savings!
Jordan Torres
Absolutely fucking BASED Valve is crushing it lately.
Michael Perry
Why would Shenmue ever fucking need kickstarting? Especially when it got backing from sony and now sold out to epic
Yes, that is exactly what I do with Origin. Unfortunately I have retarded friends who use Steam for other shit than just playing video games.
Jordan Brown
Man this feels weird
Christian Roberts
>>paying people to make the product you buy Wait, the donors aren't getting free copies?
Jaxson Sullivan
>I'm glad this taught people not to fund kickstarter shit That's what they said when MN9 came out
Christian Howard
I mean, technically it was kickstarted before Sony got on board and long before the EGS even existed. Remember, this shit was announced at E3 2015, four fucking years ago.
Carter Collins
WITH NO SURVIVORS
Jeremiah Reed
imagine having a fox wife
James Perez
Because i don't want to support chinese influence on game industry. All censorship in games because of China.
Isaiah Sullivan
just use Launchbox or Playnite. or soon, GOG Galaxy 2.0
Brandon Cruz
MN9 was released a year after the Shenmue kickstarter
Jaxson Green
Anybody looking forward to this chink drama from the 2000s is an actual fucking piece of shit and you should unironically end your life
Nicholas Parker
>based Epic bullies betas out of mommy money again
Porn is fine, but can we please throw the furries into a bath of acid?
Chase Thompson
Fuck your friend. He needs to be taught a lesson. Don't pay for games that aren't finished yet.
Alexander Hughes
They hate it because it's the first actual competition Valve has faced, and they can't handle the idea of having multiple accounts and launchers for games.
I can't understand it either, but then I'm not a zoomer, and I remember the world before Steam.
What's far more disgusting, to me, is Oculus. They're literally locking games to HARDWARE, not software, which is a million times worse than Epic, and nobody seems to care. Imagine buying a game, only to find out you can't run it because you have an AMD graphics card. That's what VR is like, right now.
Owen Cooper
Literally any game that gets an exclusivity deal from epic is just begging to be pirated. Epic has officially subsidized the profits of the game as per the contract they signed with deep silver, meaning any lost sales due to piracy are eaten by Epic, they're basically paying for the game on your behalf, thanks epic and pirate your new game.
Dominic Howard
February 8th incident, Hong Kong 2021
Jaxon Rivera
Yeah man, let's go the the Epic forums and laug...
Chase Carter
Is Epic's business model sustainable? I want them to die and my hope is that they're just bleeding their Fortnite Battle Royale cash reserves into unprofitable fuckups that is unsustainable long run.
>Hong Kong WILL fall to China within your lifetime
Ryder Foster
I'm marking this in my calendar and getting popcorn. Thanks for the future scoop, time traveller.
Parker Reyes
>Is Epic's business model sustainable? Doesn't matter, they have the infinite money of Tencent to play with.
Jaxson Jones
If Fortnite dies it is.
Dominic Richardson
No, they use the non american market to pay for the "developer share"
Nathan Wright
Nobody wanted to fund it after the moneysink that S2 was. only after the first kickstarter Sony saw hte potential and jumped into it. And now Epic as well.
Henry Smith
Isn't that illegal for EU?
Zachary Watson
their own fortnite fan base is starting to turn against them so it might be sooner rather than later
Steamtards explain me why Steam is better for industry than EGS?
Jaxson Torres
>absolutely love xenonauts >they do kickstarter for a sequel >fuck ye >give them money >they give frequent long written update posts with what they changed, what they're working on, ask what players want priority wise >already got a steam key for beta versions several months back feels fucking good man
Jack Perez
Not really. They've said themselves that 12% isn't enough in the long run and one of the reasons why charge fees are on the consumer unlike with valve,.. Besides, if their store doesn't take massively off, once the Fortnite money dries up, and that will eventually happen, they'd be with their backs against the wall. Hell, if you want to be really pessimistic you could assume that it's not even Timmys idea, but tencent pushing them down this path to eventually buy the rest of the company off Timmy.
It's illegal in pretty much every civilized country, IIRC. It's illegal in Aussieland too, but judge is still out on whether or not they are civilized.
Anthony Cox
>How much did you invest in the game, Yea Forums? 0, but I might buy it later.
Noah Sanchez
it became the "best" platform about uhhh 10-12 years ago they're making it worse recently tho
Brody Howard
Tencent just has a 40% stake though, is that enough to do much in terms of corporate voting control?
Landon Cook
Because Epic paid Deep Silver money to have more users on EGS. There is no compromise here.
Jason Brown
Epic is really undermining people's faith in kickstarter games. I've never backed anything but I do appreciate some of the games that have come from being kickstarted, Epic wants to shit it up in the name of expanding their Chinese botnet.
>Implying Kickstarting a game is not just donation for the creator. There is no contract made between you and the creator. Just a promise without any legal assurance
Wyatt Collins
can't they get sued over this scam?
Juan Hernandez
epictards explain me why EGS is better for industry than steam?
when given the choice, every dev that's not getting exclusivity paychecks goes for steam
Ryder Kelly
>How much did you invest in the game, Yea Forums? I was planning on buying 1&2, then play 3 when it came out. But apparently out of the question.
I have nothing against Epic store, it's just with steam I can buy a giftcard with cash at any store, scratch and buy. With everything else I would need to make bank payment, and I am iffy about that.
Owen Gonzalez
i thought this game was in development hell
Benjamin Jones
It's a little more complicated than that. The fine print of Kickstarters TOU seems to indicate that they mislead consumers, however since the product will be the exact same just the manner in which it is distributed has changed it's up for discussion whether or not it constitutes false advertising.
Daniel Brown
Yes! I too agree that every cute girl wearing cute things that I want just begs to be raped.
David Clark
Because publ- I mean developers get more money from the sales.
Brody Anderson
It is as long as they have fortnite money. I don't think they could sustain the store on its own though.
Jayden Young
It was.
Why do you think it got so much fucking money injections?
Adam Johnson
people are able to get refund through paypal, possibly a chargeback though
Better and more pro consumer features on storefront More sustainable business model No exclusivity cancer Not China
Anthony Williams
that’d guarantee pirated copies circulating on day 1. for epic games store to work they have to rely on strong DRM, ie denuvo
Landon Morales
>0, but I might buy it later. Paypal does it if you give them a good enough reason. The worst that can happen is that whoever you chargbacked from will blacklist your paypal account from making future purchases.
Easton Garcia
furries COME from porn lunacy
Nathan Powell
so then why don't they launch on ichio or other game stores with a similar split?
Blake Lewis
The EGS didn't even fucking exist when this game got kickstarted. Of course people expected to get the game on steam, because that was just about the only serious AAA option available for a pc copy.
It also showed up on fucking Steam, albeit not able to be pre-ordered months before this was announced, on top of the e-mail received by backers because they were backers alluding to a steam copy. It literally does not matter that it wasn't directly sent by the devs, what other conclusion are you supposed to be expected to pull as a backer?
Anyone who thinks that nothing wrong has been done here is some kind of corporate apologist.
Justin Mitchell
So at this point it's just free money for some lawyer willing to file a class-action lawsuit. Truly Epic(tm)
Jaxson Hill
What's with these people? Just because you don't like epic doesn't mean there's some chinese conspricacy behind it.
Bentley Thomas
>kikestarter >preordering a game they deserve it, people are so fucking dumbe they never learn
how dense do you have to be to preorder a game in this day and age? its just natural selection at work at this point
Cameron Anderson
Racists don't use EGS.
Joshua Sullivan
obviously it's a chargeback and most likely your kickstarter will get banned, unless kickstarter decides to side with the funders rather than the dev, in which case they might simply force shenmue to offer refunds
Samuel Nelson
Shoulda gone physical.
Owen Jenkins
>Of course people expected to get the game on steam, because that was just about the only serious AAA option available for a pc copy.
>not torrenting every single deep silver game on a seperate PC and seeding them until they go out of business get on my level you fucking pleb
Colton Carter
First of all, the game looks like shit.
Second, just open up a claim with your bank. If your credit isn't abysmal they will get you your refund on the grounds that you weren't given exactly what was promised. To add insult to injury, it reflects badly on the seller when you do this too.
>shenmue3.deepsilver.com/us.html >WILL SHENMUE 3 BE RELEASED ON STEAM IN THE FUTURE? >Shenmue 3 will be released on Steam in the future.
Lincoln Bell
it’s not that people “expected”, after paying you had to chose either ps4 or steam copy. if the option was “windows pc copy” the yeah, it would be shitty but legit, but thats not the case
Adrian Hernandez
>just wait a year why would you buy it on steam after a year, might as well just pirate it when it gets cracked like a week after launch
Angel Wood
>Somehow the meme edit gets posted more than the original now What the fuck happened?
Anthony Gutierrez
THEN FUCKING RELEASE IT ON STEAM FUCKING ALREADY
WHY PISS PEOPLE OFF JUST RELEASE ON BOTH SHITTY DRM SERVICES AT THE SAME TIME
user, they might miss out on their super exclusive game music CD that ends up leaking weeks before the games release and shitty art book that will only maybe be looked at once.
Jordan Miller
I've never played a Shenmue game and never will. I can never forgive them for the death of my boy.
Juan Kelly
Fish swim, birds fly, and the Chinese steal shit, what else is new?
Michael Powell
Name 1 (one) steam exclusive game not published by Valve. I'm still waiting for even one of the shills to give an example.
Jeremiah Ross
If it's coming out on steam still then why can't they just fucking give the people who want it on steam a steam key? What in the actual fuck is going on? How is this so hard? Why is everyone acting so retarded?
Henry Harris
BASED
STEAMROASTIES CAN EAT SHIT
Eli Scott
but games on steam aren't exclusives by the traditional definition, as in, they weren't enforced. They were de facto, but devs COULD have put their games anywhere else, they just, you know, generally didn't becsuse there wasn't a point because players either wanted to use steam or didn't want drm at all.
shit edit too, i've never even seen the original and it sounds more like epic at a glance
Andrew Adams
Dark Souls 2 and 3
Can't get those on anything but Steam
Aiden Diaz
Can't find much about it except that they made people waive their claims to it if they accepted the $5 of FO76 currency or had a Bethesda account for longer than 30 days.
John Allen
people just go "well the devs didn't want to launch somewhere else so it's a steam exclusive"
Kevin Stewart
You can't. Steam rules say that you need to release your game on sale for keys that aren't just review/dev keys to activate
>or had a Bethesda account for longer than 30 days. what the fuck? if you had a bethesda account before the launch you couldn't sue them anymore? lmao
Adam Thompson
Yes, but Shenmue 3 never was.
Jayden Anderson
Tencent paid them for exclusivity
Charles Rodriguez
No joke this was my one and only Kickstarter. I always said i wouldn’t do it because I could just buy the game at launch if it’s good. And I only backed it because I felt bad that the guy who made some of my favorite games ever was wasting away after getting Gunpei’d. And even with that I got fucking hosed. It’s kind of funny actually.
Noah Kelly
Just make the game cost 100$ on Steam then lmao
Logan Lee
Do you not see how, as a newcomer, there's literally no other way for a company to get their foot in the door?
If you want to challenge a company as dominant as steam, you need exclusivity. I don't know how this could be a surprise to anyone, and it's absolutely insane that people think that being the first company to market means you're entitled to all sales forever.
Tyler Green
>most likely your kickstarter will get banned, but thats a good thing though
Brayden Powell
>Devs pulling this shit despite knowing that epic is currently controversial >Now everyone talk about this shit instead of how bad the graphics, art style, animations and voice in the trailer were I'd say they're based and gamers are fucking retarded.
Dylan Rodriguez
why the fuck would you delete this you dumb fucking janny
Camden Sanchez
I couldn't even imagine wwz on steam since it's a dogshit game
it went all in on "well maybe we don't make a good game, we just need to hope that people are so sick of L4D/KF/Vermintide that they'll play our game instead"
Nathan Gonzalez
Because Epic paid them money to deny the game a Steam release until a year later.
James Morris
It's just a few thousand kickstarter backers getting a steam key. Everyone else will have to go to Epic. Why can't they do this? At least it staves off some of the badwill.
then they wouldn't get EGS bucks and it'd all be for nothing
Ryan Davis
They did this because Epic's money is enough to cover the cost of the game, all the backer copies getting refunded AND put it out on Steam AND make a profit off of it. There is literally no reason NOT to do this besides pissing off some sheep who will probably just download the game when it comes out anyway because they're spineless
Brandon Barnes
CRINGE
EPICDRONES CAN EAT SHIT
Colton Moore
>Anno Man, FUCK Epic for taking Anno. I hope they go down in flames.
Daniel Stewart
shut up chink... go and cut your genitals off with some scissors you cunt.
Wyatt Bailey
Good job, you can an exception to the general Epic rule. Unfortunately, they still hoard exclusives like a motherfucker.
Hudson Campbell
The EGS contract is exclusive you dummy. Steam rules also say that you cannot discriminate massively on price and sell on their store.
Except exclusives clearly aren't the answer, or Origin could have taken over long ago. No one has managed to match the features and convenience of steam. Maybe work on getting your client to par with the competition instead of nabbing exclusives mere weeks before they were supposed to launch on steam.
Jaxon Richardson
>Business transaction is made between companies >WTF YOU CAN'T DO THIS I'M A COMMUNIST NOW
Steam drones, everyone
Aaron Morgan
Am I supposed to respect the principle of "they wanted more money"?
Wyatt Myers
I don't use Kickstarter to begin with so I don't know why you would need to keep your account. Couldn't you just make another one?
I would still do it anyway.
Charles Mitchell
Wouldn't yurofags just cry to EU courts and EU slaps Epic's shit?
Jayden Mitchell
And when cornered, the epic shill entirely changes the subject.
Jaxson Bell
why do journos and the lefty crowd hate Steam so much?
Jason Gutierrez
There's a way, retard. It's called making a good storefront, funding their own exclusives and not just buying exclusives away from Steam at the last minute, especially not kick-started ones.
Matthew Cruz
im more successful than inafune
Jaxson Collins
>Except exclusives clearly aren't the answer, or Origin could have taken over long ago.
They have to be good exclusives - nothing on Origin competes with Fortnite
Because why damage control at all? They already got their money. The scam is over. no need to have anyone's goodwill, sales don't matter at this point.
Carson Ward
>People bough a PS3 for the promise of FFXV >"lmao, PS4 only now" Plus kickstarter minus a new device (unless Linux user) It isn´t ethical, that´s it. Epic wasn´t a thing when they begged for people's money.
Why aren't they allowed to hog the exclusives they paid for, commie boy?
Joseph Hughes
By delaying giving refunds it's good damage control because less people will refund once the heat of the moment has passed
Nolan White
If you've backed stuff in the past you won't be able to access it anymore and if you've backed something that hasn't been delivered yet you'd lose that thing entirely.
Samuel Brooks
Smart devs don't want anything to do with Tencent, other devs, like Deep Silver, just care for money. Look at Capcom or CDPR, they are smart and avoid the Tencent Store like a plague.
Easton Moore
the order recepit literally reads "steam key". the thing is that egs is a hard dealbreaker to some and with this bait and switch epic just bypassed a shitton of lost sales and they did all that by piggybacking on steam's reputation. its a really fucking shady move.
William Green
Because ebil porn games and other vidya that "demean" women

They're allowed to, they're just insufferable pieces of shit for doing it.
Austin King
Manchild post
What has Steam done to your brains?
James Mitchell
Tencent pays for "exclusives" because nobody wants to use their shit garbo store. It's the only way they can have "sale numbers". Other devs just go for Steam because they're smart and know the Tencent Store is a shit platform that nobody likes, except journos that shill for it non stop. Tencent is getting desperate because they know they're failing, 90% of the public despises the store.
Jack Flores
they're on steam too so they're not taking the chink bribe there's literally no reason for them not to launch on EGS
GOG is DRM free, which devs usually don't want to use for a variety of other reasons.
Even if what you said were true that's actual competition, as in, steam is the best client for developer and consumer alike. The EGS aren't offering competiton, they aren't offering a strong and legitimate alternative to Steam, they're offrring insane deals a developer would be verging on stupid to refuse (devs risk a TON on each game they make, a guaranteed financial success is a huge deal) while trying to force players to come to the client they may not support by measure of either quality or ideology by cutting out all of their other options.
Sweeney tried to weasel out of actually giving the EGS features at first by saying that players only cared about what games they can play and that Steam's "bloat" (a good chunk of which i actively use or am happy I could use in the future) is superfluous because players can just use 3rd party software. "We don't need steam friends because that's what discord is for" etc, fuck you. They think you're a moron.
Grayson Robinson
They can, and I'm allowed to decry them for doing so.
Justin Hernandez
Because Steam doesn’t have content policies that let them engage in large scale censorship under the guise of “moderation” and “curation.” that’s the main reason. You’ll note they started going after Steam hardcore after Valve got rid of Greenlight and announced a more or less open policy on releases.
Their vision is that every site is like YouTube and asks (((Vox))) and the (((ADL))) what should and shouldn’t be on the platform.
Samuel Evans
>40% >just They practically own the company's decision meetings, it's top investor tier

Are Steam drones all this illiterate? He said CDPR wouldn't put their game on the Epic Store; they did
Nicholas Thomas
boohoo, im so offended even though it changes nothing in the game.
Ayden Green
I didn't say that
Lincoln Turner
This changes nothing. I chose the PS4 version with the intent of pirating the PC version from the very beginning, even if it was Steam and not Epic.
because they know 100% of the users that backed it will use Steam, and don't want the Tencent Store
Mason Gonzalez
t-t-there's nothing we could do, dude. so you're telling me there is nothing wrong with tim selling 40% of his company to a chinease investor?
Josiah Green
>they officially stopped support on the production of the new Unreal Tournament game so they could focus on Fortnite and the Epic Launcher >Absolutely nobody wants the fucking DRM >Fortnite's flavor-of-the-month popularity is finally dying off thanks to the excessive amounts of unfunny memes and the middle schoolers who play it moving on to High School
Luke Ross
Stop arguing with people you're not actually arguing with, steam drone
Nathaniel Jones
Then open claims on everything taken away. They can't withhold things you've already paid for without a refund.
Take this as a life lesson. Stop spending your (I assume) hard earned cash on stupid shit like Kickstarter.
Juan Perry
Why is this board so stupidly political, like everything has to be a left-right issue. t. liberal who strongly prefers steam.
Easton Walker
probably because
Isaac Wilson
- Epic store didn't exist when this was backed - Several cases prove that it was intended to be a steam release - backer query's that tell you "steam client required" - backer query's that make you choose a ps4 or steam version
>literally turned their back on their promises about a week before E3 >not offering physical disc / no drm version
>literally not seeing the harm in it or defending shit like this fuck off epig
All they want to do is use the backer numbers to say they had a great sale at launch. They already got shit on for the poor reception of sales with metro exodus
I didn't invest in it because I never back early access, kickstarters, or any other bullshit that's gonna steal my money.
How do brand loyalists even function? When something is PS4 exclusive, it means that you need to buy that hardware to play that title. 'PC exclusivity' is just a buzz term for 'I would have to download another piece of software'. Don't get me wrong, some software is objectively fucking crap, GFWL springs to mind, but my god what a bunch of fucking babies you have to be to give a shit about buying a game from a different company. It's the same levels of dumbass zealotry you used to see over Apple vs Android.
I just can't fathom how ridiculously invested you need to be in in software, which by the way has never held itself to any particularly high standard, because it's been the de facto go-to for a while. Competition is healthy. Good on EPIC for throwing around their capitalism. Valve threw around their capitalistic value. They threw around their brand to get people to pay to publish their shitty games through their platform, and then garnish 30% off of those sales. Stop lauding Valve as a hero, it's deluded and stupid.
What precedent does that set, though? It's pretty widely accepted that epic isn't actually a better client than steam at this point, so what does this actually communicate if they succeed? If you want to snag a foothold on the PC store market, you just start throwing your money the fuck around, pleasing the consumer doesn't actually matter.
Name a single thing stopping Google Stadia from buying up exclusives if google decides they want to start stealing the market.
Henry Russell
because they did the work, those funders give them money for? when will you idiots understand, that kickstarter is not a shop. you are funding and donating money there. you just get something in return
Landon Lopez
there's a difference between launching on a platform & selling your soul to it
Hudson Gomez
>- Epic store didn't exist when this was backed >- Several cases prove that it was intended to be a steam release
So proving that Steam is in fact a monopoly and why we need EGS
Isaiah Long
>Can't get those on anything but Steam Is not >Is exclusive to Steam A publisher deciding not to offer their game on a different platform with not contracted to do so is a whole different thing than signing for an exclusivity deal.
William Powell
CDPR avoids being bribed, and you still can't pre order the game, shill.
Tyler Lee
>steam Try being an oldfag like me, having a precious series with a promise of almost endless story set across 4-5 games envisioned, which only 2 is available to be made Then comes a chance for a 3rd and more installment via a kickstarter, your entire childhood resumed for a brief moment Now with the stain that is this betrayal of the original fans's trust, ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE there will be the 4th or 5th game YS dreamed of
Imagine being a nostalgiagoggled oldfag like me. Oh right, you can't because you don't have any empathy. Your parents will never love you, nor your glorious overlord, nor will you have sex and most of all you will never be happy.
except gamestop doesnt scan your pc and report its findings to the chinese government
Gabriel Turner
do you know why people wanted physical copy? so it would be free of DRM, and that's another point. People now get physical box with only a shitty epic code in it. Defend that you whore.
Sebastian Lewis

Brody Stewart
And your post is a case proving you take dick up the ass.

sorry, but journos are hardcore left and they hate Steam. That's all.
Matthew Powell
>A publisher deciding not to offer their game on a different platform with not contracted to do so is a whole different thing than signing for an exclusivity deal.
Everyone with an above room temperature knows Persona 5 is exclusive to PS4 (or SONY consoles like the PS3 if you want to get pedantic), nothing is stopping Atlus from porting it to Xbox or PC
was there a promise of DRM free version tho? nowadays when I buy a boxed copy I still assume it's just a disc with install files so you don't have to download & a steam key
dailymotion and liveleak exist too. youtube is totally not a monopoly
Cameron Johnson
Not part of the Epic deal.
Jonathan Russell
>They're just buying up exclusives which only hurts consumers you fucking retard because it drives up prices Abloo bloo bloo I don't understand capitalism. You hate the free market because it doesn't validate your indignantly stupid brand loyalty. The free market means EPIC are absolutely free to buy up publishing rights to games. Go whine at the music industry or something.
Adam Foster
The games are on Steam because Steam has a very robust API that provides all these backend functions like multiplayer, achievements, leaderboards, etc. Something Epic doesn’t have, which is why Dangerous Driving launched on PC without leaderboards.
That’s right a fucking racing game launched without leaderboards in 2019 because of Epic and no “game journalists” wrote about it because they’re Tencent shills and/or commies who hate Steam.
Hudson Evans
>really like Anime Girl Panty Raider rpg >they announce a sequel for Anime Girl Panty Raider >you support them on GameBooter so you get access to the beta version & help them make the game >they release the beta >it's now a first person shooter with bara dudes >wtf I want a refund >why do you want a refund we did the work already
John Rodriguez
That also doesn’t somehow make China less awful it just lets China’s innate awfulness spread into Epic.
Juan Rodriguez
>people pay for Steam keys >Kickstarter project says they're offering Steam keys options >Tencent Store doesn't exist at the time >LOLOL nvm that the Steam keys you paid for are not available anymore, just use the Epic store please, bye Agsin, why are you defending a scam?
Carson Johnson
that's literally what a boxed copy used to be it's not the customers fault if shitty AAA corporations use this to release unfinished games that they "patch later" or literal packages with nothing but an activation code. This isn't what was ordered, plain and simple.
Nolan Myers
The game is mainly based on a nostalgia fad cash-in form the late 90s. Most of the boomers won't even mind, as long as the game satisfies their desire to play another shenmue and Lan Di's continuation. But now there's pretty much no fucking chance another sequel is happening and that is squarely on epic.
Elijah Nguyen
Yeah, it's a business you retard, literally everybody is trying to make money by fucking people over
Andrew Bell
don't even bother explaining shit to Epic shills
Christopher Ramirez
>brand loyalty No, steam is just superior. You're writing like a dumb 12-year old. > I don't understand capitalism So far it's you who don't seem to understand it. Steam offers the superior product and service and they're not forcing anyone to use it. Get it already manchild?
Justin Nelson
because phoenix point allowed people to refund you silly oaf
Anthony Davis
Their free will is.
John Lopez
the issue with free markets comes when it leads to less competition instead of more competition if you have a single monopoly you've got issues, however if you have a free market where one company purchases exclusive rights to something you also end up in the same situation, even though it's a free market
Imagine if a company bought up all the wheat in the world, and sold it exclusively in their own stores, if you truly think that's how a free market should be and think that's healthy you're fucking braindead
Camden Anderson
>REEEEE I HAVE TO DOWNLOAD A FREE .EXE TO PLAY THIS GAME! LITERALLY CRIMINAL! HELP HELP CALL 911 YES HELLO POLICE A COMPANY MADE A DEAL WITH ANOTHER COMPANY AND NOW I HAVE TO DOWNLOAD A FREE LAUNCHER PLEASE COME QUICK You dumb Valve drones just wait, this E3 was all about paid subscription services for games, soon we'll be getting paid service exclusives, and you'll fucking wish you only had to download a free .exe.
So like Persona 5 is exclusive to PS4/PS3, Dark Souls games are exclusive to Steam on PC
Alexander Phillips
>was there a promise of DRM free version tho?
No
Joshua James
Nigga, you still get to play the fucking game. Be fucking happy that Shenmue 3 is even happening. I know I am. Stop being a fucking moron.
>BUT IT'S NOT ON STEAM. So fucking what? Really. So fucking what.
Cameron Cook
I see you never had a job yet.
Noah Campbell
Correct.
Benjamin Adams
if you don't explain shit they'll assume they won and feel good, as shown in >Everyone with an above room temperature knows
Connor Morales
they know 100% of backers will use Steam. they know the general public hates the Epic Store, that's why they don't give refunds. Epic is getting desperate at this point. Throwing money wherever they can to make their unpopular store succeful, which fails more and more every time.
I have kickstarted 2 things. Something /tg/ related and got my stuff. And subvcerse but i only put £20 in which i had spare so even if it is shit i dont care. Just did it for the memes n dreams.
If im not doing it for memes then i aint kickstarting a viedo game... ever. /tg/ stuff is fine though if the source is reputable.
Jacob Ortiz
Now you're getting it
Matthew Allen
Say Persona 5 and the upcoming Persona 5 Royale aren't PS4 exclusive
Go ahead
Ian Campbell
again, people didn't pay for steam keys. people were asked if they want a steam key AFTER they already kickstarted it. nowhere on the main page did it say you get a steam key i don't really understand how it applies in this situation, but if we talk stricktly about kickstarter, then yes, that is true. the only thing you buy on kickstarter is cat in a bag. you can never be sure if the project will even be finished. this is what you sign up for
Benjamin Johnson
I have, but I didn't come home at 9, I got home at 6 but the majority will likely still be people who go to school, which come home at about 4
Except they didn't pay for a steam key, they DONATED money for a hope of getting a steam key, they didn't no big deal.
Jason Martinez
>Steam offers the superior product and service and they're not forcing anyone to use it. Get it already manchild? Then don't buy Shenmue. Vote with your wallet if you are actually stupid enough to give a shit about something as petty as which shop sells the game you want. Same premise, you don't have to use Amazon if you don't want to, but if manufacturers get a good deal selling through Amazon, you can bet they'll sell through them.
Fact of the matter is, kickstarter is not an entitlement to a product. It is not the exchange of monetary goods for a product. Ultimately, their decision was that they didn't think the value of the features Valve's Steam platform offered did not outweigh the benefits of publishing through EPIC (more money). Money drives capitalism bud.
Dominic Watson
>I got home at 6 Most people have something to do when they get home before getting on their PC and playing games. Like preparing dinner, spending time with family, etc. 21:00 is peak hours for a reason, retard.

Jaxson Rogers
people DID PAID FOR STEAM KEYS, you fucking retard. Why are you so fucking stupid? You expect to have arguments being this retarded?
Luis Jones
You can already play through the game on PC, and it's on PS3 which means it's not a PS4 exclusive either way That's just not how it works. Not offering a refund is illegal, especially when it was advertised for years for Steam. Stop trying to BS people if you don't know what you're talking about
Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with that little chink-sucking faggot at epic? Quit ruining the pc platform. I have way too many games now that I need to pirate.
It matters when one launcher is lacking in so many features compared to another
Carson Turner
That's the point. Accepting exclusives coming out on a mediocre free .exe is just a start. Even Origin and Xbox Pass is starting to put their foot in the door, and if 12% isn't as sustainable in other countries, paid subscription might be the way forward for EGS.
Tyler Ortiz
>whoa nigger what about this particular backstab >they don't do nothing >except completely nullifying any chance of sequels >in which the director said there's like 2 more games AT LEAST >when the 3rd game HAD to be kickstarted first before all these scummy corporations had a hand >yea it's not important at all, fuck seeing the story to its end like the majority of backers on kickstarter originally meant to do >yea it's not like the first 10 pages of the shenmue KS comment is about this I'll still play it, but fuck you, niggerfaggot soulless insectoid.
I give them a couple of weeks before Deep Silver does the same thing they did for Metro Exodus. Those that backed will get a steam key they can activate but the game won't be available for purchase until the timed exclusive ends.
Jason Cook
Someone redpill me on why one can’t simply download the Epic client and play this game.
Nathan Hall
People like you are the reason this industry is shit.

They have to actually make the product. They don't have to give it to you afterwards.
>Not offering a refund is illegal, especially when it was advertised for years for Steam. That may be true for EA and MS as they will likely stick to first party exclusives, but Stadia is likely to leverage that Alphabet money to snap up a lot more than just that. If you think Epic has a lot of money to buy exclusivity, wait until you see what Alphabet can cough up.
yes they can, everyone prefers Steam, and Epic knows it. That's why they bribe.
Sebastian Powell
again, nowhere on the main page did it say you get a steam key. you buy a pc game with a digital distribution. they just assumed it's for sure a steam game, because it's the only guy on the market at the time people got a surver, after they donated: hey, would you like a ps4 version or pc (steam key) they even said before, that system requirements can change for a game in development. if the game required more ram than previously written, would you scream for murder too?
Noah Taylor
I haven, but as they absolutely refuse to release numbers, I fucking doubt it.When a company only speaks in wide platitudes, the game probably underperformed.

Samuel Young
>maddox >2019 dumb fucking zoomers shitting up this site.
Brayden Harris
>get bribed millions by epic for exclusivity >Don't offer refunds with that money That means digital sales of Exodus were absolutely trash.
It's disingenuous to phrase this upset as "people are upset because it isn't on steam". If this was available as a standalone download that didn't require a certain platform due to exclusivity then nobody would be complaining, because then they could just add it to their steam library anyway. People are pissed because it's exclusive to the Epic store, which nobody who backed this game was expecting because the EPIC GAME STORE DIDN'T EVEN EXIST THEN.
Ryan Johnson
>Terraria devs said no to the Tencent bribes >Epic cuts off their trailer on the PC E3 showcase because they're mad at them >nobody at the conference addresses this
You're going to have to be more specific. Which clause do you not understand? Is it this?
>they offer to return any remaining funds to backers who have not received their reward (in proportion to the amounts pledged), or else explain how those funds will be used to complete the project in some alternate form.
Because, if they send you a key to your e-mail address, whether you validate it or not you have in fact received your reward. The term 'reward' is important, too, because that shows it is materially not a 'transaction' which would entitle you to a refund on the basis that you did not want the product.
Dylan Brown
So wait The people who backed this only get an epic copy and need to pay for a steam copy or do they need to wait 1 whole year for the free copy?
I'd be really angry if it was either.
Bentley Allen

when epic got invested in 2012, everything was good when fortnite got created and popular, everything was good. everyone installed the launcher and it was good, because they wanted to try the new cool game. when epic wanted to be an alternative to steam, tim got posessed by a satan and bad chinaman
THEY OFFERED STEAM KEYS 100% OF BACKERS SAID THEY WANTED STEAM KEYS why are you so adamnt on refusing the truth? that all backers want Steam, and Epic knows this, that's why they refuse to give refunds. Why are you still defending it?

Please don't post that face, and that's from one of the handful of people that were baiting Valve drones with it a week ago.

Why don't they just cancel the payments on their credit cards. It states in the TOS that you can cancel, increase or decrease payments before the final product is complete. I would block my credit card in the worst case, easy enough.

Anyone else surprised they got fuck all?

To the people arguing legality, having a eula is a legal gray area in the US and in the EU and many other places it carries no legal weight. Saying "oh they can do what le they want axoording to their document" won't necessarily hold up on court.
Angel Hill
That's what you get for not bowing down to china, gweilo :^)
Camden Sullivan
Based as fuck. Fuck steam and FUCK GABEN
Caleb Baker
>everyone installed the launcher and it was good Never happened. Nobody but children and low IQ aspies cares about Fortnite.
David Richardson
Imagine throwing this much of a bitch fit because you have to download another free game launcher. Really activates my almonds
>And I guess Autochess was the biggest one probably? wat? isn't volvo making autochess? how the fuck does EGS get autochess if valve is making it
Camden Morales
you still refuse to see the truth? Nobody likes your shilled store except journos and shills. Nobody
Lincoln Lopez

There's a screenshot of YsNet emails floating around, all saying Steam Client, just gotta find it on the sea of salt that is shenmue KS comment/steam forums my man
Nolan Lopez
Did valve bribe the Publisher to make it exclusive?
Hunter Jones
NO DON'T EXPOSE MY BULLSHIT REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
At least you are getting paid good money on your tencent account to defend the shitty commie service.
Justin Stewart
>early access is good
fucking zoomers
Jeremiah Sullivan
Nice pilpul Shlomo.
The games requirements ALWAYS said “Steam client required.” As long as the game had system requirements or said Steam client. When you selected your version you explicitly selected Steam client.
It is REASONABLE to assume that meant people thought they were getting a Steam key. To say now that it doesn’t mean that is incredibly disingenuous. Especially since the day they made the announcement they changed it to “EGS client required.”
Tyler Lopez
remember when you didnt need 3rd party websites to play video games? you just bought a disc and put it in? i miss those days
Michael Clark
>they boasted about the sales numbers AFTER CUTTING THE PRICE TO ALMOST NOTHING
>not doing a charge back on your card saying you got scammed
Mason Reyes
This. Let them argue with the credit card companies. They'll back down and you'll get your refund.
David Murphy
>literally started with hl2 exclusivity
Jack Davis
>The games requirements ALWAYS said “Steam client required.” yes, and it also said, 'system requiremets due to change, game in development' your point?
Gavin Adams
Literally would have sold double on Steam. Risk of Rain 2 sold a million in a shorter amount of time and is probably pushing 1.5-2 by now. All at full price.
Joseph Anderson
Why didn't they ask? I'm fine with Battlenet, uPlay and Origin. I even have a Discord and itch.io account.
Jordan Rogers
It's literally created for competition to a monopoly service...you know like capitalism

Check the archived versions of the same page. They pulled a sneaky one and prayed people would not discover.

>t....they never said steam keys!! b.....better deny all evidence of it!!
Thomas Ward
>cut price by almost 50% and all your competition gets taken off the store >"wow look our sales increased a bunch"
Adrian Wright
It sold better on egs than it would sell on steam. I'm from the future, steam is going to die in the late 2020. You're welcome
Jayden Baker
>Not wanting to use a shit service is brand loyalty
Ethan Carter
Shenmue 3 is fucking shit anyway.
99.9% of everyone on Yea Forums didn't even give half a shit about it last week.
Evan Carter
Mass report the kike starter
Cooper Rogers
Never before has this part of the game been more relevant.
>completely nullifying any chance of sequels I don't see how getting extra money from Deep Silver and Epic is going to stop that. If anything, it means more money going toward a possible 4 and 5. Which I think is fucking retarded anyway. Ryu is in fucking China, what else is there to fucking do? We're living in the timeline where this even happened. I put $500 into the kickstarter and slacker-backer. I want to play the game too, but a fourth and a fifth is fucking dumb. Don't drag it on.
Sebastian Diaz
Valve is making their own Dota Autochess while some chink involved with the mod sold out to a chink company and is making a chink version of it. Gee, I wonder which will be more successful.
Grayson Sanders
>Backers pays to get game made >Epic pays for my free copy when I pirate the game
I'm feeling pretty good
Isaiah Williams
Address what? You think they should advertise non partners in they own sponsored show? Are you retarded?
Look at the system requirements. Steam is clearly listed there.
David Evans
>competition You mean bribing developers for exclusivity on you product which is 1000% worse than your competitor? Even GoG is more preferable just because I don't have to worry about chink nightmare regimes getting my money.
>It sold better on egs than it would sell on steam no chance in hell mr future man
Parker Gray
You have to remember. Kids don't give a shit about who gets paid and numbers in general.
They just want to play what's popular and colorful
Daniel Lewis
how many layers of irony are you in?
Jackson Jackson
but I thought volvo was making it alongside the chinkers from what I read the chinkers would be making a mobile version & volvo would be making the pc version
Thomas Reyes
But Yu said it's still not enough even with 3 games? >you now remember Shenmue 2 had 4 (FOUR) fucking discs to go through
Ian Green
Nice.
Ethan Nguyen
I can't believe I fucking laughed at this trash.
Asher Brown
and? what does it matter? i thought everyone hates epic and would never buy anything there? and why would they ask? it's their business decision where do they sell. i'm assuming they want to sell more than 2 copies of the game that they would sell on itch or discord. i'm pretty sure origin, battlenet and uplay did not sell 3rd party games on their shop then and 2 of them still don't and discord didn't exist then. so much choice
Ethan Peterson
Welcome to capitalism retard.
Isaac Bennett
Most games don't even use most of those functions in steam, almost seems like a moot point
Cant handle daddy Gabe spending his last millions in getting exclusive rights to a good game instead of being infested with trash?
Thomas Perez
>Steam is listed there Wow, it is, this pro-- >*Game is currently in development so system requirements may change without notice. We thank you for your understanding. Oh.
Eli Rivera
you think Yu Suzuki has anything to do with this? I don't think he would approve of this scam
Lincoln Ross
What about answering the question?
Robert Rivera
the project reached the fundraising goal 4 years ago....
Brody Lee
>capitalism is competing by making a worse version of the product ok retard
Elijah Myers
I'm fine with using the Epic Store if they give me a consumer-friendly reason to use it (lower price on the game compared to other stores). The shit they are pulling here means I have to use a shit service because Epic can't compete by offering something better.
Jayden Jackson
Valve is making a version that will be on Steam obviously and the devs behind the mod are making one exclusive to EGS and a mobile version.
Cooper Cox
It doesn't matter. Gaben sold valve to tencent, tim was assassinated by rice ninjas. In 2021 the only store we have is "tencent gaming buddy"
Joshua Wright
>Grug was promised one DRM platform >Grug gets another DRM platform >Grug not happy, wants stone coins back

I'm from the future of your future, after the Timbot is slain by the resistance, Steam is set up as a symbolic legacy store to commemorate the death of the Tencent Empire
>there are people that still think kickstarter is some kind of storefront to buy things
They voluntarily donated their money. I can't give money to the homeless shelter and ask for it back if they serve beef stew instead of clam chowder. They should just be happy the game is coming out at all and the devs didn't shut down the project and run with the money.
Sebastian Thompson
That's how it works in real life underage kid, you think companies are fair and respectable?
Logan Ramirez
>EGL and Steam are the same
Sebastian Ward
Bribes are corruption.
Henry Walker
The Shenmue story was always going to be 17 chapters or so. First game was chapter 1. Second game was 2-6 or something I can’t remember. Don’t know where this game will land but I doubt it’s all the rest. Bottom line we will be in unfinished story limbo as soon as this game is done just like we were when Shenmue 2 tanked.
David Gutierrez
He used to be a pretty cool guy and i would like to think he still stayed the same. Probably DS whispering to him sweet little lies >hey nipponese theres an ez money, with these you can develop your game further >you just need to not release it on this, this and this and only release it on this specific thing >we'll handle it yeah? you keep making the game >domo arigato hai desu Of course, this is still best case scenario.
Carson Taylor
>companies compete by making the worst version of the product possible, that's how it works in real life underage kid

but they are offering something better: games not available anywhere else. you're just moving the goalpost
