If you transfer your lvl100 you won't be able to use them until you have the last badge. And since gen4 I think you can only transfer them from older gens after you beat the champ. Don't know how it was with pokemon bank since I only started to use it last year.
It's mostly about competition or having your favorite pokemon in the game. I for example just transfer my champ team from one gen to the next.

The situation is as such: no Pokemon game has given you the opportunity to catch every single Pokemon without trading from others and/or transferring Pokemon from older games, but the games have always had the choice for you to do exactly that to have all (then-current) Pokemon species in your game of choice. What this news implies is that Game Freak is not going to do that with SnS, leaving plenty of species of Pokemon completely unable to be obtained in them (like they're legitimately not going to program them in). That 'Pokemon Bank' service they launched when the 3DS games rolled around, that allows you to transfer Pokemon to a cloud save outside the game so they no longer have to bother with convoluted methods of transferring the old to the new? Yeah, for a good chunk of species it's going to be fucking useless for these new games.

That decision itself is a good thing, less pokemon = more dev time to dedicate to them instead of making 900 shitty model/animations, the real problem is they aren't delivering in improving the animations/models of the one they are actually doing.

Honestly I really like how the game looks, even if the colors are washed out a bit. The art style is still really strong (even if it was better in the first 2 gens). The bad part is, of course, most of the Pokemon aren’t returning. like I would’ve happily waited another year and a half for them to implement the rest of the pokemon, wtf. And they could’ve at least ported all the models for the gen1 Pokemon from let’s go. This actually ruins the game for me, I have my original Pokémon team from gen 3 that I’ve brought to gen 7, I guess they’re gonna rot there now.

How many infinite combinations of moves are there with tutors, egg moves, and version exclusive moves? So many that you never know if what youre fighting against is even legal.

I've known that this was a long time coming when I was 12 years old. There was no escaping this shit because you can't keep adding pokemon forever and keep the new ones interesting. If theyre not stronger, why would anyone use them? The fat has to be cut. I'm sorry anons, but not every pokemon can be in every generation. The idea that they have a paid service, which was advertised as "Easily transfer all your Pokemon from game to game! It's a good choice. Looking at current Galardex, all of the relevant mons like Lucario pseudo legends etc are already confirmed to be in. Any fan favorites along the lines of Salamance, Tyranitar, etc. are a shoo-in. They will drop a lot of starters and legendaries, along with shitmon like the Pidove and Finneon lines, that nobody gives a fuck about. Most of the pokemon with unique roles in competitive battling will probably still be around. It's just that some of the fluff is getting cut. We don't need 8 regional bird, rodent, and bug-type pokemon. We don't need 8 sets of starters, most of whom are irrelevant competitively. We don't need 8 sets of overpowered legendaries.

By cropping the amount of Pokemon available, the entire appeal of Pokemon has been compromised. Without its main gimmick, Pokemon is just a boring, shallow game that's not worth anyone's time. However, the large number of unique monsters to find, catch and battle with (which, through the constant addition of viable Pokemon, adds depth through more potential matchups) is why Pokemon is interesting, and therefore WORTH YOUR TIME, especially since it was the first relevant series to do it. With LESS monsters to find, catch and battle with, Pokemon becomes LESS interesting and thus LESS deserving of your time.

Every first play though I use only Pokemon from the respective region, but second time onward I keep the region starter but mix and match five favorites from past gens. Now if this list is anything to go by now my options are severely limited. Past Pokemon I like but could never work out in a team composition may not get that chance now. People keep poorly explaining the problem, resulting in people who don't play the games saying "BUT THAT'S NOT A BIG DEAL, I DON'T TRANSFER MY OLDMONS WHO CARES?".
The reason why it's an issue is beyond just transferring old pokemon; it means that the majority of Pokemon will not exist within the game's code whatsoever, effectively erasing those pokemon from existence for the duration of the game's lifespan. All online play will be restricted to the region's pokedex, including in Showdown, since they always go by what pokemon are obtainable within the game; combat for older generations exist on Showdown, but are usually scarcely populated.

Even if you're a retard and you don't understand how much this change will effect the gameplay, it's bad enough solely for their excuse. They're cutting out the main appeal of the game- the variety of Pokemon- so that they can, and I quote, focus on the quality of their animations, but anyone with eyes can see that that's a complete load of bullshit because the animation is just as bland and uninteresting as its always been. The main excuse for not having Pokemon Colosseum-tier animations has always been that there are too many pokemon; now that they only have to animate a few hundred Pokemon, they have absolutely no excuse. But, of course, they're just lying about putting in more effort, they're doing this literally just so they don't have to work as hard as they used to. You can't even walk with your fucking Pokemon, which is definitely inexcusable now.

tl;dr They're trying to say "we're focusing on quality over quantity" and hoping that people just don't notice the fact that they're not actually increasing the quality. Even if you think it's not important that there's no national dex, it's important that Game Freak knows we're not dealing with this horseshit.

This is good news for me. I didn't finish any Pokemon besides Fire Red because half the pokemon in newer games were the shit I've seen and trained already. A game with nothing but new Pokemon sounds amazing.

Whatever reason they're not allowing the international dex it's intentional. Most likely because they are going to be greedy fucks and want to sell you DLC or the incentivize buying pokemon armor later. All the 3DS games could hold every pokemon and those were much smaller cartridges than the switch ones.

You can be certain that "Ultra Sword" and "Ultra Shield", whatever they end up being named, will have a vastly larger regional dex. And Game Freak will be praised for it.

It's incompetence. Everyone knows gamefreak can shit in a bag and sell millions so greed is beside the point. Gamefreak can't make good games, their dev team is too incompetent.

I think the only course of action that might save face is an official apology and a *promise* that the full national dex will be patched in ASAP post-launch.
