exactly what I was going to say, they both fuck up and arguably sonic team's fuck ups are worse but game freak literally makes the same game over and over but somehow despite 20 years of practice they keep getting worse. me wanting to go back and replay the adventure series, sonic r, or any other games doesn't feel weird but it sure as fuck is strange that even just for postgame stuff I would prefer to revisit an older gen.

The only people that say gamefreak have never been sonic fans. Everybody knows GF is just a bunch of lazy hacks but ST is much worse than that.

Billy Hatcher taught me Sonic Team's problem is that they listen to Sonic fans.

I didn't even play 3rd gen, I just grandfathered it in on the basis of having a couple designs I like and not wanting to be a complete dick cutting the games off at 2nd gen. I was being generous with this trash series. The only thing actually good to come from it since the first two gens are the REMAKES of the first two gens, it's pathetic.

Gamefreak is shitting the bed right now, and their games are often a technical cut below what their platforms are capable of. They're competent but you know they're capable of better. New ideas rarely return to later games, regardless of how they're received. There's no excuse for some of their choices. They cannot be so out of touch that they thought they could get away with not including all the pokemon.

Sonic Team is very hit or miss when it comes to quality. Some games are competent, then there's glitchy trainwrecks that ruin their reputation. I think they're still paying for 06 in a way. They're afraid to do much with the core gameplay so we get other gimmicks like a character creator.

I feel Gamefreak is worse. While both are flawed, Gamefreaks problems are more conscious choices.

Gamefreak is worse because they have all the money they could want to make an ambitious, amazing game but don't because it would take effort. They literally just don't care and constantly cut features and fail to do anything original in order to turn a quick profit every 1-2 years

I can't see how you could answer anything but Sonic Team. Game Freak is lazy and hasn't done anything remotely impressive since at least Gen 5, but at least they can produce derivative shit that does the bare minimum to cash in on what their fan base wants. Sonic hasn't had a passable game since Sega went third party.

Gamefreak because of their incredibly undeserved success.

Gamefreak have the resources to make amazing games but choose not to, Sonic Team are just lazy.

Gamefreak's problem is laziness, Sonic Team's is just flat out incompetence. So I guess ultimately, Gamefreak is worse, since they probably have the capacity to do well, but willfully choose not to.

Sonic Team has made bad games and embarrasing mistakes. Gamefreak has not.

GF is incompetent and has been does the bare minumum since the end of gen 5, and even before then often removed good features, but their titles are never "bad", just dissapointing or servicable.

Sonic team's attempts at innovation are respectable, but innovation is only good when the end result is good. "innovative" is not inherently a good thing, nor is being derivative necessarily a bad thing. Sonic team has made flaming, trashfire failures which have been considered some of the worst games ever made.

Sonic, despite it having some failures, has atleast tried something new with almost every game. While gamefreak has done the same game over and over again and people just lap it up

There was always going to be a point where GF stopped including all of the pokemon in each new game. Every other monster collecting rpg comes with limited rosters and they have fewer monsters than Pokemon. Trying to balance a game around roughly 1000+ playable characters is simply not practical.

People are massively overreacting to GF's new policy. They arguably should've done this a generation or two ago.
