If this game is using the first concept art of BOTW (Floating island, Link lose an arm and remplace it with a Guardian arm...), then I could see Zelda being the playable character for the first part of the story, with Link for the second part.
After all, the current Link in BOTW, is a monster, already has the master sword, all of his memories, all of the training from the shrine, so something major is needed to nerf him.

That's why I like Master Mode. Because increased health values are one thing, but regenerating health on top of this actively discourages you from just standard hack and slash until the enemy is dead. That's not fun, it'll likely eat through your weapons, and isn't smart to play. So instead you work with the systems the game presents to maximize durability and damage output. Knock Bokoblins and Moblins off cliffs or into water. Use shock arrows to make enemies drop their weapons to steal, or shoot them while raining/into water/metal to create arc fields that damage them all at once. Chain sneakstabs on one enemy before moving onto the next. Exploit shield parries and backstabs on Guardians and Lynels for quick kills.
It all makes the game much more fun, when even defeating two/three enemies becomes a puzzle in and of itself.

That's the fun thing, cause if you know what you're doing that trial becomes even more fun. Feed rusty weapons to the Bomb Octoroks near the far side of the island, and they'll spit out a shiny weapon instead for you. I got some good claymores out of that to kill the Hinox with.

Pretty damn weird how shield parries were both much tougher, and riskier to execute, and outside of reflecting projectiles it did shit in comparison to much more easily executable flurry rushes.
