The team mechanic is useful when you can do it right, but a roster of only 15 characters, and not far less track variety than Transformed just made it go stale much quicker

TSR barely matches up to the original CTR, first off, a playstation 1 game, made 2 decades prior to this game has

Little things like that go a long way in making a game memorable. Pretty much any other racer I've played just throws a list of times and a menu at you when the race is over, I couldn't think of a single unique one off the top of my head. CTR's by comparison is pretty unforgettable, between the trophy girl getting up in your face, the music, and the victory animation playing out over the losers.

That said, if it has to be one or the other, I'm happy to get the trophy girls as racers.

Speedrunners use Coco because she's the first Accel character to appear in the character select and it saves them time over picking N. Gin.

The real reason accel characters are meta though is because of their incredibly low angle requirement for a powerslide. They can powerslide in an almost completely straight line and don't really have a handling disadvantage compared to speed characters. Crash and the handling characters have too much angle on the powerslide which gives them a worse line in straights.

This would actually be fine if Crash and the other all-rounders were faster in straights, which many testers have proven is not the case. Accel is faster in a straight line without even powersliding.

I think Beenox deserves a lot of credit for actually trying and making a great remake that respects the original game/devs/fans. Remember these guys made the Bee Movie game on PS2 and work mainly on ports.

I'm just glad Crunch is getting another shot. His potential in WoC and Radical era was wasted, but his CNK appearance was great.

Finally being able to play CNK's tracks with proper physics and boosting system will be a god send.

I think development time and time management is the biggest issue with VV. But also the fact that activision always gave them another chance to make a game after every bad one they've made (Crash GBA games).

I think it's more of a case that Beenox needed this break to prove they can be trusted to make a quality game, and not not just ports. VV don't have that desperation to risk their studio for quality since they'll always be given another chance regardless. Just my opinion though, could be budgeting issues.

The first 2 GBA games were good though, it was Purple/Orange that sucked.
