The e3 wasn't just a bunch conferences back then. Conferences were usually "press only" albeit anyone could qualify as a "journalist", but anyone could access the main expo.

Now it's much more open, yet much harder to access the conferences. I mean unless you want the shittiest seats from which you can't see shit, in which case you're better off watching it on YouTube, because front rows are taken by any and every soiboi streamer.
