If they cut anything its probably paths your choices can lead you and deep character creation, easier to have presets with minor customization.

Well the game got re-worked around a few times and they said it was significantly redone in its development. They've already probably thrown out a few big vision plans cut a lot of ideas and content. It's normal for games of this scale.
