Honestly the only thing I'm really curious about is how they'll keep the atmosphere throughout the world. Places like the Golden Saucer, Wutan, and Costa Del Sol had an extremely strong feeling unique to each of them due to the pre-rendered backgrounds and simple MIDI music. I wonder that with more complex levels and music we might lose some of that charm. Now, on the reverse side of that, getting to explore more of those towns that we never got to in the original sounds amazing, and I would really look forward to it, but I'm just curious how they'd do it. In Midgar, we already see things taking a more cyberpunk or industrial approach with the design, where the original was mostly like a rundown slum until you got to Shinra HQ. I wouldn't say I'm even worried, I just want to see how it turns out. There is really potential to make something amazing in there.

It's a neat steampunk at the beginning of the age that was happening. And, it's the start of the game (a good 5 hours worth) and a return at the end of the game (to shoot a cannon at the crater, a good...1 hour probably). So, I see why it's certainly the most famous setting for FF7.

One of the things that has always made FF music great is that they weren't afraid to let the music own the scene, themes were strong, stood out, and weren't overly complicated. While the AC version deviates from the original it took the dial and jacked it all the way up, you may not like it but at least it's willing to be the star of the moment. This new Remake version though sounds more like the original but they turned the dial in the opposite direction, what we've ended up with is a tune that blends into the background and at times is so quiet and meek it's almost impossible to tell what song is playing.

Going full orchestral means you need to take special care to maintain the elements that made the original themes so iconic and from what we heard in the demo it's a huge swing and a miss. Fighting sounded alright for the bit they let us hear during the trailer, so i guess that's something.

It is, and that is why they have to put in the effort to get the songs right. If they are going to rely on a fully orchestral presentation they aren't going to be able to get a large number of the songs right in 7R, they are going to have to combine with other elements to do so. Especially now with a faster paced action combat system you can't go soft on the music, it has to be bold.

Honestly some of the best renditions of FF7 music over the years comes from going in a more metal approach to it, black mages and even a number of the AC tracks are phenomenal.

The ending cutscene shows Aerith's holy magic failing to stop the meteor, then the planet does it instead and the final scene shows Aerith praying. That's your entire argument. I'm not a hardcore Tifafag and I don't entirely dismiss the idea that Aerith was responsible, but that is the extent of the evidence. To me it seems more likely that the lifestream saw what the party tried to do for the good of the world and decided that life doesn't deserve to end just yet, and just because Aerith wasn't alive doesn't mean she wasn't part of that group.
