Epic is about 47% owned by Tencent (that's just public information, who knows what amount Tencent owns besides that.) The concern is that Tencent is going to or will direct Epic to take the data from the Epic Store and sell it to whoever wants it.
It's a legitimate concern, actually, as Chinese privacy law is notoriously weak so Tencent can basically do whatever they want with that data.

It's even worse than that. Epic Games is salting the earth for future crowd funding endeavors. They are harvesting all these games that got funded by the interest free loans that the gaming community gave them, and saying "fuck you, this is ours now." I for one am done backing Kickstarter games until they change their policies to prevent stuff like this from happening again. I backed Senmue 3 and I got cucked by Deep Silver and Epic's greed. They saw me and 70,000 other fans throwing our money at this game and then they snatched it away from us, and YS Net sold us out and won't even offer us refunds.

The lid has basically been blown off of crowd funding and now everyone is going to see it as a scam from now on. The only way this can be fixed is if the crowd funding platforms update their TOS to stop Epic from doing this anymore.
