Those are norse runes. FF has had norse mythology influences since forever. Midgard is the land of men, earth or whatever. Nifelheim is basically hell. Nibelheim is a wordplay with Nifelheim. In that sense it is quite possible that Tifa´s master, Zangan, is some sort of norse warrior.

Tifa is involved in a plotline in disc 2. And that’s her story contribution. Disc 2 also has you learning “Aeris’ plan” whih informs your forward progress, she becomes collective motivation to kill Sephiroth, and in disc 3 she saves the day... again when Holy fails.

Even when she is dead, her shadow is long. So when we view the game holisically she is of greater stature to the main plot.

That is what people mean when they call her “the leading lady.” If you dispute none of this then you probably just dislike the term.

It’s really the opposite. Tifa always had the better design (hence fanart dominance) while Aerith had the more rounded character

Tifa doesn't really have much of a character that isn't defined by how she relates to Cloud, but I always really loved that she just beats the shit out of everything. More girls just need to punch things all the time.

Tifa really does seem like she is a WIP, they didn't show her that much in the new trailer, and they will probably touch her up.
