And Aonuma's justification for doing this is exactly what I thought, since BotW was such a departure they're overcompensating by turning 2D Zelda into rehash central. Fuck everything.

I don't care. Awakening deserves a remake and I got one. What did you guys even expect it to look like? I didn't like the between worlds art style.

I have to admit I wasn't too keen on the style at first but I came around after seeing Link actually emote.
It is a reskin. All the content outside of the dungeon maker mini-game is identical. The enemies are in the same places. The NPCs are the same. The dungeons are the same. All the assets are in the same place. The mechanics are the same. It's not like ALBW where at least the content was new and they added a few extra mechanics, even though it borrowed heavily from LttP's iconography. The biggest changes are the controls and lack of transitions. And of course, the visuals. In terms of game design it's very very lazy.
I want an actually new game.
