Game's slow since it's a post-7 DQ, just be warned. Also there's technically endgame grind, but at that point you can cheese the system to do it real fast and jump like 30 levels so fuck calling it a "grind".
There's a third wall in the early portion, but it's completely doable if you pick the right skills. The other two only require grinding because the attack stats are too high in relation to your defense and spell options.

Excellence in design is worthy of being called great. DQ's statistics are calibrated to such a degree that it's kind of mindblowing. That and the fact that there's some actual fucking nuance to the writing despite the simple story is nice. It's a simple game done nearly flawlessly. If you need your game to have a million bells and whistles to be considered great, maybe you're more interested in pure consumption than media itself.

Cheese Dance strats and respec tricks (and those elusive hidden bonus points panels - better get that guide ready!) are the safest route to win without relying on RNGod deciding that your healer won't fall on his ass on every strong attack.
