I sit at a desk and make 3D model drawings all day. The biggest thing I have to fight is putting on weight from not being active enough. So unless staring at a screen all day gives me cancer I think I'll be okay user.

A lot of entry level jobs are contract based, even for big companies now. It's because the new workforce is basically 85% guaranteed to not stay longer than 2 years in a job anymore before they move on.

I used to do some welding, the best job I ever scored was repairing Cruise Ships because even if I was only ever employed off the cruise season, I was making more than enough to actually sit on my ass until Cruise season ended again. I was making a fuck ton more than any idiot doing data entry or being a bank teller. High risk jobs pay a lot, you're only at risk if people are careless and cheap also with the right guidence on investments you can keep the money flowing a bit longer, not endlessly but definitely a lot longer than someone else working a seasonal job.

I'm 125k guy. I'm a software engineer. My advice is to leave your job every couple years. You rarely get promotions and when you do it's a slap. My advice is to seek higher paying positions as your resume bulks up. Eventually that'll slow down then you stay longer. I imagine I'll peak around $160k (in todays money) within 10 years. (Australia).

Like I said before though. Don't stress too much about it. I used to be poor by white standards and money didn't really do much after 80K other than afford me more expensive versions of the same shit.

I'm not you. That's what I did. Your results may vary. If it's your first job out of school then better advice would be to not worry about it yet. You're probably extremely inexperienced, unmarketable and have zero leverage. Get an impressive name or two on your resume then do what I said earlier.

Or, play it out. I know a few guys who got well ahead without moving companies at all. But it's rarer in my experience.
