I was eight years old when I played FFVII. I spammed Attack to get through the game and won. The only difficult things in the entire game Lost Number, Demon's Gate and Carry Armor. There was borderline zero strategy for 99% of the game, that Scorpion fight hilariously required paying attention to the enemy's current status in a way that the vast majority of the game didn't.
Almost all turn based combat is brain dead garbage. I play Zachtronics games now, that shit's hard. My brain falls asleep on any turn based game. Even Megaten's fucking boring because the heuristic is as basic as just memorizing and exploiting enemy weaknesses and to heal and buff when needed.
If turn based is so simple, you might as well make it action. I literally cannot winter the flow state with turn based games, the only way to keep my attention is with action.
