Lol

>anti DQ fags so desperate, they have to cherry pick retro images instead of showing what the game really looks like

can't wait to pre-order

That's the true power of the Switch OP. I'm honestly hope to play the game again in 2D mode.

Are you really any better when you post a pic from the PC version?

that's actually pretty cool if they remade the entire game in 2D like the old school versions.

It is the entire game in 2D. It was the 3DS version of DQXI.

its a shitpost you dumb fuck
its probably a dq fag that knows this will start a thread

>2D Dragon Quest
>voices
>fully orchestra OST
Nice

They did. In fact, they made the game in three different engines. The Switch version is getting the modern 3D engine and the 2D engine. You can switch between them (get it?).

>no upgrade announced for ps4/pc
1 job square.
1 job.

Aaaaaand begging has started.

You're either not getting it at all or going to have to buy a completely new version

>It was the 3DS version of DQXI.
It was in the 3DS version but it wasn't THE 3DS version. 3DS had (3DS tier) 3D graphics

You're expecting Squenix to give you upgrades for free when their entire conference was remakes, enhancements and expansions? Obviously they're going to make you buy it again.

Pretty sure the 3DS version had the 3DS-tier graphics AND the retro SNES style, which you would view simultaneously.

youtube.com/watch?v=Mv4c05_DkoI

It was simultaneous for the intro but then you choose one to play with and can swap between them later

I believe only in the beginning its both simultaneously. Then you have to pick between either one but I think you can change it at certain points.

This is the same company that charging your for content in KH3 that should have been in the base game to begin with and is releasing FF7 in episodes you only have yourself to blame.

Damn that's cool. Now I want to go back and play the older ones thanks for running me down memory lane anons I will rest well tonight.

I have myself to blame for what? I bought DQXI 'cause I know Yuji Horii doesn't make bad games and I loved it. The DQXI S extras are cool novelty stuff that I wouldn't mind in a free update, but if it gets ported to PC and they make me pay for it I'll just pirate it.
Those gooks ain't getting to me.

So wait, they just decided to remake the entire game in 3D and it actually sold well?

1) This is the Enix side.
2) Their one job is to make the most money possible. Selling the game on a new platform for full price vs giving people a free update. Hmm.... It's like expecting the Pokemon team to stop making revised versions of Pokemon games a year after they launch.

But they did stop...

Oh, didn't know that. My bad.

Yuji Horii wanted to make the next Dragon Quest game on consoles, namely the PS4. But he also promised that he would put Dragon Quest games on the most popular console each gen, which at the time was the 3DS. And SquareEnix management was pressuring him to make it for handhelds.

In the end, he made the game both for 3DS and PS4, even when it would require totally different engines. He did a similar thing with the remakes of Dragon Quest I-III, both releasing simultaneously on Super Famicom and the Game Boy Color. And now, he's releasing both versions combined into one game on the Switch, which is both a console and handheld.

Yuji Horii doesn't cut any corners.

(not that user)
This is SquareEnix's way to apologise to Switch owners because they had to wait for so long. Of course, all the added content - while marketed as ''Switch exclusives'' - will be available for PC and PS4 at the end of the year. 2020.

The 3DS and console/PC versions were developed and released at the same time.

You have it backwards. They made the game in 3D, on PS4 (HD) and 3DS (lower poly, obviously). As an added bonus, they added a 2D version of the game playing out exactly the same to the bottom screen of the 3DS. This retro style was missing from the PC/PS4 versions and is added back into the Switch version. See

goddamn i love dragonquest art like this

Wishful thinking doesn't make it a fact.

That has to be one of the craziest things I've ever heard a developer do for a video game. It's like double work. I guess it paid off though. Would be cool to see more games do that in the future, but 2D isn't the best console anymore.

But user, this is Square Enix we're talking about.
I'm still buying the Switch version.

It's more like triple work, since his team had to make three different engines. But the 3DS version sold more. And the game as a whole sold more than most if you count all the versions combined. With the Switch port coming, it might surpass Dragon Quest IX as the best selling DQ game.
