Would this serve as a good entry for someone who has never played a JRPG before?

I'm going to sound really weed for a second but no and hear me out;

The game has a lot of refined tropes of the gaming style and cultural references that a lot of people including myself just barely get because of their overtime exposure to JRPGs.

Start with Tales of the Abyss or Symphonia first. Then work into more JRPGs that have a stronger cultural tie to where the genre comes from.

T. Guy who's first JRPG was Medabots Medabee for GBA

THE PART WHERE YOU HAVE TO DATE SOME TEENAGERS ITS GONNA BE CRINGY, SO NO....OOPS CAPS.

>recommending ARPGs as a start to the classic JRPG genre instead of any turn-based ones
retard

*Really weeb

Hey, call me a retard all you like I'm just saying it's a decent possible start for someone instead of throwing yourself into something like Persona as a first.

Best JRPG to start with is Xenoblade Chronicles imo

Its good, but why waste money buying this when a literal better version of the game is coming out soon? Wait a bit and get P5: R instead of wasting your money.

Not really, this game is quite focused at time-management which has a big impact on the JRPG side as in how your party grows stronger and how many resources you have in both battle and dungeon exploration.

If you don't mind waifu-pandering I'd recommend the Neptunia games as a start in JRPGs

Yes, it was my first JRPG too. Loved it. A few parts are kind of iffy (particularly toward the end), but it's still one of my favorite games.
