I guess this ultimately makes sense. Emulation tends to be very CPU-intensive and Xbone CPU is very slow, so now with a much faster product down the pipe it makes sense to focus BC efforts on the much more capable machine since they should be able to achieve something much closer to universal compatibility with that hardware rather than picking and choosing titles all the time.

Maybe that's something to do with it, although when you play games on an emulator like Dolphin or Mupen64Plus (and many other emulators), it gives you the option to scale up any game to any resolution you like, basically. So I would have thought that it wouldn't be difficult to have an emulator which can render any game in a higher resolution.
