Fishing minigames are always bad

They usually are, but sometimes they're alright. original Nier's fishing got kinda fun after I got the hang of it and, while it's barebones and barely counts as a "minigame," I've grown fond of Toontown's

Dark Cloud has a fantastic fishing minigame. It's really comfy and offers great rewards, while being completely optional.

Fable/Fable TLC had really frustrating, awful fishing but I did it anyway and had fun. So you're right but I still want them in games. Especially RPGs.

I liked NieR's fishing as well, getting those big fishes out of the water was pretty tense. FF15 was dog shit though.

Yakuza 6 had a spear fishing minigame that was basically an On-Rails Shooter complete with stupid bosses which was sort of fun, albeit shallow.

Not really, but there need good fucking rewards to not be a waste of time. The Breath of Fire games (2, 3 and 4) and Legend of Legaia are the only ones I can think of that actually reward you well for fishing. And it's a shame that every other game just treats it as little more than a pointless diversion.

I literally dropped Zelda SS when I realised that there was no fishing mini-game. In a game with motion plus controls. I'm still bitter at those cunts, hope the next Zelda brings back real fishing (no bombs this time, I want a fishing rod).

Nier's fishing system was great, anyone who hated it is a retard who fished at the wrong place in that part of the story. I hate that Automata completely butchered it.

Not with XV because you had to buy all the shit needed to fight (poles, lures, reels, and new line since your fishing line has durability).

I guess you could say that it was accurate but money is hard to come from in XV (unless you fought hard shit using the Hold O gameplay) so I didn't do it unless I had to.

True, but if Big the Cat's gameplay was distributed among the Sonic Adventure cast as part of some Chao Garden thing instead of made its own story to pad a game that's a breeze anyway it would have saved Sonic Team a lot of grief all these years.
