Like it or not, they'll control all of pc gaming eventually if valve continues to sit by and do nothing while sticking their dick in VR headsets
Mabye Yea Forums will finally realize when bannerlord or some jrpg they adore is epic exclusive
Some people get paid by epic, I imagine they don't hate them too much.
Arrr he be right mateys, whatever will we do in a situation such as that?
I don't hate Epic, actually they do nice stuff for small devs
Still living in the past, epic shill? Because "not on Epic" has become a new selling point.
I'm considering buying Telling Lies just for that sick burn they did.
>epic sponsors event
>WE LOVE STEAM!
got em
>Epic's exclusivity deals counteract the losses incurred by piracy
>Epic exclusivity encourages piracy
They're just paying for our games, Sweeny is a bro.
If you haven't noticed all those people praising epic especially here on this site are paid shills, real people by a large majority don't like Epic.
Do you like being controlled by chinks?
>paid shills
How do I become a paid shill? I wanna get paid for baiting people
That or hyper contrarians. The same people who think people not wanting to use a broken, featureless, bloated Windows only game platform is a political issue or something.
>bringing the shitty console exclusive faggotry to pc
epic can suck my dick
Go to Timmy tencent himself and do your best impression of a Chinese man.
meanwhile steam and microsoft are teaming up and epic after all this time can't even make a basket for their store
but hey, epic got a bunch of shitty indie games that the average steam user won't miss
I don't give a shit and think this is one of the dumbest "controversies" I've seen on Yea Forums in over a decade.
Any customers with a minimum of self-respect won't like being treated like a mindless walking wallet
If you don't then there's something very wrong with you. That or you work for them.
This, its not enough that we have to endure the constant fanboy console flamewars but now suddenly there are two tribes (allegedly) of PCtards constantly flaming in yet another pointless war of exclusivity.
Epic have said that they will not have porn games in their store.
Which is an epic fucking stupid move as home VR systems evolve.
Almost the entire VR market is going to be for viewing pornography and porn themed games.
Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
>Epic just got blown by Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass that will allow to play on PC games that are exclusive to EGS without ever downloading EGS
>Epic will control all of pc gaming
Preeeeetty doubtful there. If anything Microsoft is using Epic's shitstorm to come in as the "good guys" again in order to widen their influence over the PC.
What if he was just Telling Lies?
I hate them because despite POWERING the show the show was complete shit.
epic hate is just another reddit hatemob. most of the prominent points have already been debunked. i just wish reddit didn't have to disguise their selfish hatred with moral justification, cause that just lets devs get away with annoying shit
i really wish i didn't have to download another launcher. i want to play monster hunter-lite (dauntless) with my pals, but i really don't want to spend a day downloading the launcher and then the game.
unrelated, but i really miss the days of physical copies for games. i don't want to support steam because gaben is gonna step down in a couple of years and his spot is gonna get snatched by a businessman. i don't wanna support epic because they will never support physical releases. i want to support GOG, but many of their games have been snatched by steam and it's too much of a hassle to keep checking if something is on there
>using linux
Fuck off and kill yourself shill
I'm not using it but I'm glad the Fatman is finally getting worried about the competition.
This is what pisses me off the most about EGS. Everything else aside, we now have that retarded console exclusivity shit on pc, a platform that was always known for its open nature, and allowed choice.
I look forward to the news where we find Tim has died from choking on the Chink cum he's been gargling.
you sound lazy
I just don't want yet another shitty storefront program on my PC. If something comes out that I happen to really want and it's Epic exclusive, sure, I'll get it. But I won't really be thrilled about it.
What exactly is so bad about Epic that only they do?
hating epic is an underage meme. they don't buy games in the first place.
And Steam is different in this regard how?
>Like it or not, they'll control all of pc gaming eventually
>Shopping Cart: six months out
>Working video game sales events: three years out
>Controlling all of PC gaming: 250 years out
Valve needs to fuck off. If they want to regain our respect, they need to prove themselves worthy of respect by throwing away money on securing exclusives.
Fuck you nigger
FUCK CHINA
FUCK TIM SWEENY
FUCK EPIC GAYMES
yeah nigga i am
i don't want to jump through extra hoops to get the luxury of gaming. i'll put the effort in when i'm actually playing the game
being owned by fucking china for one
Why the shitstorm, just play Yakuza
Didnt Yakuza 2 and 6 get confirmed for steam?
Most things today are owned by China tho...
fortune.com
you skipped the part where he asked
>that only they do
>Using an OS like Windows that is open about how it spies on your every keystroke, mouse movement and actively installs Disney phone games on your desktop without your permission
Windows is dead, if Epic actually knew what they were doing they'd be transitioning to Linux too, like Valve has been for half a decade now.
Easy to pirate
I don't.
why should they care? They aren't gonna pay for exclusivity lmao
My friend over in Valve said they don't give a fuck because all egs is getting is bad rep and chinese fags
>spend five minutes to download the launcher and make an account
>never have to do it again
>download the game exactly how you would on Steam
I get your thing about physical copies, but this is such a non-issue otherwise.
Nobody cares what the vocal minority of toxic entitled gamers who pretend they speak for all gamers or even humanity. Fortnite is the most popular game in the world so evidently people who actually play games on PC don't give a fuck about platformwars. They just go where the good games are.
only redditors hate epic
>Mabye Yea Forums will finally realize when bannerlord or some jrpg they adore is epic exclusive
It's not exclusive if I can pirate it.
They didnt look like todd with a mask on
>Epic
>controlling anything at all
Truly ebin.
They made Unreal Engine 4, so I can't hate them entirely, but they've been really shitty, lately.
>spend 5 minutes to download a botnet and put up your credit card info on a fucking bulletin board
Not a fucking chance, I'll stick to yakuza
it is exclusive despite you being able to pirate it, weeblord
>...if valve continues to sit by and do nothing while sticking their dick in VR headsets
you shouldn't interrupt your opponent when they are making a mistake
It should be illegal for those insects to own western companies.
nice try, bugman.
yeah lets ignore that half the games made today are made in their engine
>they just go where the good games are
Yeah, like Terraria, Hollow knight, Factorio, GTA 5, Monster Hunter World, and Cyberpunk
oh wait
based retard
where you buy your tinfoil hat?
my brain is growing soft and smooth, user. i have too many accounts to remember login details in. plus i have to wrangle one of my friends into downloading the epic game launcher and that's gonna be a fuckin' slog
>just write your login details somewhere
i keep losing the post-it notes
They'll just look what sells on steam and pay more. Don't expect them to bring new content to the game.
I literally don't care either way.
>Valve makes money on Half Life
>makes Steam
>Epic makes money on Fortnite
>makes Epic Game Store
Founded the same way. Both just sell games. Drive down the street 10 minutes to Wal-Mart, or drive 10 minutes the other way for Target.
Sure you can complain about needing to drive to two different places/install 2 clients to get exclusives but it's better than a monopoly.
>noooo theyre going to spy on me and rob me
Yeah and the moon landing was faked right
they took my shenmmue.....
Steam and Epic Games Store are literally the same, except that Steam is run by a shadier and scummier company.
Nobody, well except of you guys, is married to any one platform. You play the games you want to play where they are and don't throw some autistic fit about it.
you're a fucking nigger kill yourself
Here is a (you) just for you
its not spying if you agree to it in the tos
that they have no control over lmao nigger
>Epic actively and deliberately sabotages Linux gaming
Sweeny can rot.
I almost applaud them for their zero-fucks-given attitude. Most scummy companies pretend to be the friends of the consumer, meanwhile Chad Epic outright publicly states consumer opinion doesn't matter.
very low quality bait
I don't hate them, but I don't like them either.
Reasonable argument. You're not convincing me or anyone. If anything you're making your stance look worse by screeching like a child.
The Windows 10 installer states all of my points as facts and asks you to agree to allowing it to happen before installing the os lmao, maybe if you'd ever installed Windows you'd know that.
doubt.jpg
epic's big chance to permanently break into the market is RIGHT NOW, and it's already falling apart. developers are now refusing to get on the store due to the negative PR that would ensure.
Doesn't matter that the cause is piss poor when the point of this cringy gamer movement is, as usual, the feeling of digital togetherness and belonging. These absolute retards lack any kind of excitement or purpose in their lives so they need to feel part of something, anything, to fill the void. And since they're retards, gamer causes is the best they can come up with.
I don't feel anything about Epic. They're a store to buy shit from. I don't give a fuck about store features, the few of Steam's I actually use I can still use by simply clicking a button on my desktop. It costs literally nothing to download their launcher and their free games offerings have been pretty good. The "they began exclusivity on PC" argument is weak as fuck due to EA, M$ and Ubi starting that shit years ago.
Fuck China but if i boycotted anything they were involved in I'd be living off the grid in a creek somewhere.
I haven't used Epic in a while but I think it remembers your login stuff. Also that's a really stupid excuse, everything has an "I'm dumb and forgot my password" feature, and who the hell doesn't have a hidden text file or something with passwords they don't use often? And if your friend won't take a few minutes to make an account to play games with you, they're a shitty friend.
This
>current year +4
>playing anything other than yakuza
There never was a choice, it was either Steam or irrelevance to anyone but incels.
The consumer is always wrong anyway. The fact that the consumer thinks that Steam is good just proves that fact right.
But aren't you a consumer?
I fucking love them because they make you virgins seethe as if you just saw your crush kissing a Chad while you were stalking her social media
Hey how does it feel to get high off your own farts?
other people have the actual arguments. I just want you to kill yourself you high and mighty fence riding faggot
I like them
i appreciate them for being a litmus test for game quality
a game good enough to sell on its own wont sacrifice their brand integrity and public opinion for a big bag of chink money
a game thats shit and that a publisher or developer doesnt expect to sell well as a result of it being shit will gladly take a large amount of yuan in exchange for their trash pile
i cant wait for them to announce star citizen exclusivity or something, itll be hysterical
that's because you're fucking retarded
Steam doesn't buy exclusives (at worst they give VR devs money on the condition they at least release on steam) and has more user features.
stay mad steamcell tranny, epic is saving our gaming market
This. Literally who gives a shit. I do not care whether Steam or Epic dies. Just let me play a game. It would be even better if you could play games without a gay launcher. You used to be able to do that. Faggots on this board probably can't even remember that.
I'm not choosing to ride the fence. I am just not convinced by "arguments" that BIG BROTHER IS GOING TO FOLLOW ME AND STEAL MY MONEY AND POST MY PORN FOLDER ON THE NEWS
looks like the shill contracts were renewed for e3
Steam is good, I want to use it for games
EGS is bad, I don't want to use it for games
If EGS were good, I'd want use it for games
anything that Yea Forums hates
i like
kill yourself shill
What got me worried the most is that Twin Mirror is now an EGS exclusive.
I don't care much about the game but it is published by Bandai Namco, and they are publisher of many other upcoming games, like Ring of Elden, Tales of Arise, DBZ: Kakarot and others.
I hope they won't switch to the chink store for good.
I'm not a cuck, so no
>muh shill
coping and seething, coping and seething
That's not the point. You still give them money. Do you think Gabe Newell and Valve personally care about you? You are a walking wallet to them exactly the same as you are walking wallet to Epic.
Tim Sweeny keeps paying devs for games so that I can pirate them. Pretty based tbqh.
>Twin Mirror is now an EGS exclusive
Where is even the source of this claim?
Big Ol Epicuck.
I cant stand them, but who the fuck cares if a game is epic exclusive? just fucking pirate it you retards
The Chivalry 2 devs must have shat in their fucking pants when Mordhau released and sold 1 million copies in a month, to then go announce your game as an epic exclusive lmfao
Good luck.
Why don’t offer community stuff and trading cards so I will try to avoid buying from them. If they come out with an exclusive I want I will get it.
>EGS trying to start a shitstorm
>Valve is giving them absolutely zero attention
keep coping
And? It's basic business that applies to all industries. Plenty of people avoid giving money to companies they don't like for one reason or another. Food companies are pull shit but Nestle does the most that directly hurts consumers so plenty of people avoid giving them any money.
glad you've learned how to use buzzwords
keep earning that yuan, shill
When was this game even shown? I don't even remember it.
>shill,shill,shill
>still unaware how retarded he is
idk, I just read the news about it
Considering how not finished Nestle is one would think you'd realise how futile your struggle is.
This has been Yea Forumsalvedrone central for over 10 years what do you expect OP? I played Half-Life 2 and it was nothing special.
>One actively encourages developers to branch out and put their game out where they want
>the other bribes games to stay on their platform
>one has a shopping cart
>the other bans you if you buy too many of their products
>one has sales
>other one has sales too but pulls the games that people would actually be interested in AFTER not telling said game publishers they put it on sale in the first place
the similarities are stunning!
clearly implied that Valve didn't treat people like walking wallets. I was simply saying that of course they do.
I don't even know what the fucking deal is with them and why everyone seems to hate them. Is it just generalized Valve cocksucking loyalty?
I don't hate Epic, I hate the fact they're trying to port the worst part about consoles - exclusivity - over to PC. When Valve has Half Life 2 only on Steam, or EA has Titanfall only on Origin; I don't really have a right to complain as that is their product on their store. They have every right to sell their games in their 'closed garden', even if Origin is fucking cancer.
But when Epic bribes publishers to make Metro Exodus or Anno 1800 exclusive to Epic, then I do have a right to complain. I only am able to play those games right now because I preordered on Steam, but there are many who didn't and basically have no other choice but to wait (one year, lol) to play or bite the bullet and use an inferior product (Epic) that lacks key features that make Steam so desirable.
It is not down to Valve worship. Steam has major problems, not least of which is curation and a horrible oversaturated 'indie' market. But it has mod support, and that's what matters to me. Going back to downloading mods manually just because Epic Store doesn't have what Steam has 'yet' is fucking pathetic, and Epic is a shit company for thinking that they could justify an inferior product via mob-like tactics. Also, they're owned by the Chinese communists, and that's just a camel sticking its nose under the tent right there.
If Epic had better features in comparison to Steam, I think they would never have had to bribe publishers to make certain games exclusive to begin with; and could have just slowly eaten away Steam's market share from the Fortnite audience (and the aforementioned better features). But no, they had to start a war, and so now there will be a certain group of PCfags who will avoid Epic like the plague; just like they avoided all console games for decades before.
Can you blame them? I mean, look at how absolutely awful EGS is. No shopping cart. Can't buy games too quick or account locked.
Games have to be manually added and removed. Next to zero nice features Steam has
Honestly Valve's best bet is too ignore and let EGS crash and burn on it's own
This is all so fucking tiresome.
Why does everything have to be an ideaology and identity politics?
>hurp durp, epic is evil. me papa steam. we cool. console bad. master race me.
Just fuck off and grow up.
Angry china shills.
I got a kick out of reading the Wikipedia page
>During the PC Gaming Show at E3 2019 it was announced that the PC version of the game would be released 12 months after the Xbox, Playstation and Epic Games Store versions of the game.
It makes people feel better avoiding giving money to the shittiest company? Why should they have to roll over and accept bullshit if they can at least avoid personally feeding the bull.
>I played Half-Life 2 and it was nothing special.
the event was paid in full by epic
the end banner had their logo above everyone elses
I'm not going to turn myself over a cause that is both lost and pointless. If the product is good and I want it, I'll buy it where it's sold and not make some big deal over where that is or whose name is on the label.
>underages hating epic
Fortnite exists
You're in the right to do that you chink shill. I personally would rather ride the high seas.
We're all well within our rights I'm sure, but you have chosen a strange hill to die on. And by die I mean waste your time and embarrass yourself.
It just reminds me of the time Nintendo+Xbox were trying to 'bully' Sony into cross-play, and Sony just sat there ignoring them for literal months, and still making it difficult to do such a thing a year and a bit after.
>I hate epic store, because it doesn't have shopping cart, and reviews and I can't buy those games in another store that's why I'm going to refund Shitmue that I paid for on another platform without using their page at all and not funding them in the slightest because all my money got to developer and kickstarter
literally this
Their store is fucking ass and they need to fix it ASAP, but honestly as long as the launcher works and the games aren't overpriced on their store idgaf about games being Epic exclusive.
>Choosing to get a game for free
>Wasting time and embarrassing myself
U wot m8?
Unreal Tournament is good.
This is how epic shills.
>They'll control all of PC Gaming. Yet all the "EGS Exclusives" are planned to release on Steam eventually. So who're you fooling, B?
>But when Epic bribes publishers to make Metro Exodus or Anno 1800 exclusive to Epic, then I do have a right to complain. I only am able to play those games right now because I preordered on Steam, but there are many who didn't and basically have no other choice but to wait (one year, lol) to play or bite the bullet and use an inferior product (Epic) that lacks key features that make Steam so desirable.
>implying there are only two choices
yar yar
Well, yes. There is the black market. I don't pirate (for no other reason than because I simply do not), but you're right. Black market is the ultimate monopoly buster.
All game launcher clients compete with piracy and they all fail.
If you actually buy anything but multiplayer only games you're a corporate cocksucker.
Stop sucking down shit just because some fatass gives you a trading card worth fake money to do it.
Tim, go away.
I legit stopped pirating thanks to steam. Epic games single-handely brought me back to my route.
I don't really hate them. There's nothing wrong with Steam having a little competition. Their store only even has like 100 games total
Console gamers and casuals. Most people don't like Epic - they just hate Steam. Anti-corporate hippies or whatever. I've never heard anyone give a good reason to hate Steam that was either blatently false (like them being a monopoly [they're not] or their storefront being too cluttered [custom tag sorting available]).
>my route
*roots
fuck me I'm tired tonight.
steam pretty much proved this wrong except in the case of extreme poorfags
Okay Tim, whatever you say buddy.
>annapurna interactive
it will be epic.. he said "go wishlist on steam" so they can get metrics and data and then move to EGS like every other dev
>do nothing
About what?
i would honest to god rather use ubisoft launcher alone than even have epic game launcher installed on my pc
They are toxic to PC gaming. They have one of the worst launchers in the business, and are openly anticonsumer. They bring literally nothing positive to the table and set a terrible precedent.
why should this matter to me
sure
So Steam has
>Cyberpunk 2077
>all Bethesda games
>a handful of Xbox titles outside of GoyPass
Epic has
>Outer Worlds
>Borderlands 3
>Shenmue 3
>every game made with Unreal Engine
>every game affiliated with Deep Silver
I also noticed that the Elder Ring trailer only has "PC" on it, my guess is that its going to be an Epic exclusive and they're just doing damage control to prevent getting booed by the crowd. I haven't play any FROM game so correct me if I'm wrong.
Steam is neither more convenient than piracy or better for the consumer.
You probably played it last week and not fifteen years ago you brainless zoomer.
DUDE MY DIGITAL TOY STORE WARS LMAO
>>all Bethesda games
Except Fallout 76 and any future titles. Bethesda is splintering off onto their independent launcher.
Fallout 76 will debut on Steam later this year, Pete literally says it during the conference.
Not if they keep shitting the bed like this. They're cruising for a class act lawsuit at this rate.
Bethesda came running back to steam after Valve changed their revenue split and 76 had an awful launch.
Bandai publishes a bit of western shit. I'd like to hope that the developer gave them the idea, and they just said fuck it because it was only going to be marketed in the west anyways.
Epic didn't get the same reach over into Asia since PUBG is the dominant battle royale game over there. Jap localizations are marketed to the Asia market pretty heavily
There are NUMEROUS games you can routinely purchase on Steam for a dollar or less that are not actively available via piracy, so you know, you're wrong.
>Outer worlds would be available in a year
>Borderlands 3 in 6 months
>Shenmue 3 also in a year
This EGS/Steam threads are fucking useless, but so as the users on Yea Forums
they pay money to reduce the choices customers have, in several cases now paying companies to renege on their agreements. you can't complain about a steam monopoly while trying to lock titles behind your shitware.
also, kill all chinks
>in a year
The game is already dead in a year.
>implying anyone will still be playing it or will buy it by the time that happens.
While you are free to RP as a anti-corperatist rebel by pirating everything, the fact is that if certain franchises don't make a profit then we don't get anymore games in that franchise. And, sometimes, buying a PC port can be a key factor into getting more PC ports further down the line.
For most AAA games, yeah you pirating probably doesn't make much difference. But certain games you really gotta support with your wallet, cause they need it.
>>every game made with Unreal Engine
Wut
It's more convenient and better for the user because you're not running malicious executables from Russian hackers and "reputable" torrent uploaders.
And you get all the features of Steam
A digital collection of games tied to an account that never go away even if you uninstall.
Game saves backed up in the Steam cloud
Far better controller support (You can run pirated games through Steam to get this but it's not convenient).
Achievments, hours logged, etc.
>Steam is not more convenient than piracy
What
Most people have no fucking clue how to pirate games or install cracks. Its a thousand times more convenient to buy a game with your pre-set-up CC info on a game launcher and download + play it with a few clicks
People who actually want a game tend to buy it at launch or shortly after, these are the customers developers actually care about, the guy who is willing to buy an $80 copy of a game is probably more important to them than the guy who buys it for $4 on a Steam sale, so yeah, scaring off people who want to buy your game at launch with EGS exclusivity is pretty dumb.
Is no one going to point out that they couldn't even afford full exclusivity? All they were able to do was delay the release dates by a few months while also ruining that game's rep and encouraging everyone to pirate it in the meantime.
You clearly have never used mods in your life.
Oh, my bad. Thank you for the heads-up.
They probably don't care about Year 1+ customers.
Steam should do its users a solid and just discount it to really large amounts. Especially titles that did bait and switches that fucked over their users and prospective customers.
If the devs seethe and leave Steam altogether its their loss, not Steam.
>Jap games aren't safe
This could actually push them off PC again. Fuck Tim.
>I want less of the $59.99 that I pay for the game to go to the people that actually made the game
This is what Steamfags genuinely believe lol the game companies should just start charging more for steam editions
All the games I listed are singleplayer anyways.
More like Epic will run out of Fortnite bucks to moneyhat developers with and Valve will laugh
Isn't everything nowadays precracked?
The money is going to the multi-millionaires that own the game development studios who made the game but nice try.
Same. It happened with Netflix (before it was trash) and Spotify for me as well.
Turns out that when I have the excess funds for luxury goods, I really don't mind spending them when it's more convenient to.
Take away that convenience and I'll go right back to pirating movies, shows, games, and music again.
Epic is not being funded by zoomerbux, they're literally being funded by Winnie the Pooh yuan.
>Steam is neither more convenient than piracy
It is in some cases. Mostly it's hard to keep less popular games up to date if you pirate them.
I mean Borderlands 3 is CO-OP and it was hinted it may feature other Multiplayer modes during the PC show, they're aren't going to want to spend the time developing cross platform multiplayer.
Very retarded take here. There's definite value if your game that you made generates more revenue for your publisher.
EPIC
This, Epic store is very useful as a Jew filther.
They really won't though, Fortnite's profits were absolutely astronomical, Epic will carry on doing this for years and years until people get soured on PC gaming as a whole, it'll be like Games for Windows live all over again.
The people who actually develop these games rarely, if ever see these profits. The revenue split argument is pure trash because current developers are still getting paid the same regardless, nobody is getting a rise because the game they helped develop is an EGS exclusive, it's going straight into higher ups pockets.
>Take away that convenience and I'll go right back to pirating movies, shows, games, and music again
Gaben was right all along.
Shenmue bent over to the western piggus awhile ago. This is what they get for doing ago. And ultimately these kind of decisions are left up to the publisher
An ability to make more money gives more negotiation power. Stop being so short minded
>it'll be like Games for Windows live all over again
You mean it will die and all the games will come back to Steam anyway?
I'm apathethic because I'm not a greasy nerd faggot
Or people who thinks opening 2!!!??? launchers is not a big deal.
which doesn't mean a goddamn thing to you as a consumer
>and Spotify for me as well
What did Spotify do? I know Amazon is moneyhatting exclusive music for its version of Spotify right now but nobody could possibly give a shit about it.
Netflix I get.
I bet you hate it when your boss gets a raise too, fucker.
Can't hate them when they give me a free game every week. Enter the gungeon hype btw.
Epic Exclusive has become as much of an anathema in gaming as micro-transactions and lootboxes. And if/when the lootbox regulations go through, that bring even more negative attention to Epic's shady practices.
and what convenience did epic take away from you other than not being able to buy something on steam?
that's what i thought
Ideally. People have honestly already forgotten Steam SAVED PC gaming, 2006-2010, when GFWL was at it's peak and you needed an Xbox account to even play your offline games was when people really started looking it and ultimately transitioning to consoles because at that point, PC gaming was absolute trash.
I don't give a fuck how much the boss makes, but I damn sure won't inconvenience myself for him to make more
>and what is 2+2 other that 4? that's what I thought
Not being able to use Steam to manage my games library IS an inconvenience.
How will they control it if they can't even get 1/10th of total sales on their biggest titles. Their year one plan of buying out exclusives upfront will stop, they don't have infinite money.
>give a consumer a convenient app/program to listen to music with a reasonable monthly fee
Shit, they even give student discount. Meanwhile I'm getting bombarded with ads on youtube-app about their shitty YOUTUBE MUSIC bullshit.
How many times do I have to explain this to you brainlets, not everyone can even install EGS, it's only on Windows, a platform people are actively trying to remove from their lives. Linux plays a hefty chunk of the games available on Steam right now, Windows is a dying platform, fitting it's the only place to install and play games on another dying platform, EGS.
>n Xbox account to even play your offline games
you mean like you need steam account?
steam didn't save shit.
also, i thought you all wanted more choice in where to buy something, so why was gfwl bad?
more than likely they had to put the game on epic's store to even make it. Mirage was a horrible failure and it almost killed the entire company.
so i guess epic is really evil since they want to exist on the market and all the other shops should stop existing and start blowing gabe even more.
Oh I thought you were shitting on them for turning you back toward piracy.
Yeah Spotify is the shit. Google Music is better though, as was Amazon until they killed the locker. Having 90% of the music I want sucks if I can't upload the remaining 10%.
Just a convenient place for all music so I don't have to store them on my PC/phone. It also sometimes recommends me music I haven't heard before.
Also my FM radio is broken, and FM radio sucks to begin with. It's $5/mo for me, which is worth it for my situation.
Epic sucks for reasons beyond just convenience. Don't be a reductionist retard.
BUT since you asked about convenience:
-lack of social features / inviting friends to games
-shopping cart recently added (lmao)
-NO REVIEWS
-store just sucks in general; serious lack of options which means you're going to be running more than just the Epic launcher if you game on PC
There's other shit which I'm sure you've read and ignored ITT like the lack of meaningful sales and being owned by a chink megacorp
BASED
Who? Didn't they make Gears of War?
>DRM slaves arguing for their masters
YO HO YO HO AND A BOTTLE OF TORRENTS
oh and no mod support.
yeah not convenient
You fuckers wanting the market to pander to you are worst than tranny
>why don’t every game work with the less than one percent of the population
>no, the majority needs to change because we’re special
Fucking liberals of the PC world, I swear
Steam has a very functional offline mode you pea brain? You don't even have to enable it before hand, unless the games publisher/developer insists that you do, which is rare. The ideal choice would be games with minimal platform independent drm, which is longer an option for PC gaming, so we may as well all side with the only storefront that is:
A: Actively providing us with useful services.
B: Not spending millions of dollars on pathetic time wasting exclusivity deals.
*ahem*
FUCK CHINKS
Never tried Google music. Is it really better than Spotify?
If you want to use Epic's tools to shop and manage your library that's fine. I'm not against games coming to EGS, I hope they do. And I wouldn't mind publishers promoting the sale of games through that storefront due to the preferential split of revenue.
I mind the game being exclusive. And the problem is, Epic isn't winning over any customers by offering a better user experience than Steam, they're just dumping cash to keep games off other stores. That's shitty behavior, it is a deliberate attempt to inconvenience someone into giving you money. I'm not caving on that, I'm keeping my money.
>"hey everybody, I pirate!"
yeah me too. now let the adults talk about Epic being a pile of shit
>1 whole new launcher
>inconvenience
Shut the fuck up and come back when you move out of your moms basement and learn some adult perspective
Those have to be the most minor list of inconveniences I've ever seen lol PC fags really are the worst.
You do realise that DOS/Windows only made up '1%' of OS marketshare at one point too, the times are changing, if you want to stick with your shitty, outdated, botnet infested prettied up excuse to serve ads to paying customers then please, continue using Windows.
>-lack of social features / inviting friends to games
this is false. you can invite a friend via the friendllist
>-shopping cart recently added (lmao)
sure, i minor inconenience, but how many games do people buy there at the same time? they have less than 50 games released there
>-NO REVIEWS
it's a store, not a social media. you have milion other places for user and professional reviews. and you can see lately how good those reviews actually are, with 'people' bombing games constantly
>-store just sucks in general;
but what do you want more from it other than buy and launch and update a game?
>they're just dumping cash to keep games off other stores
No, they pay to keep games out of Steam exclusively, because some of the Epic exclisive games are coming on windows store at day one together with epic store.
>they have bad social feature
just kys, crossplay is the best "social" feature you can get fucking weeb subhuman
t. shills
Point is, it's inferior to Steam in every way. If you don't care about PC gaming, why the fuck are you even here in this thread mouthbreather?
Based and hardtruthpilled
Are you actually calling for the proliferation and expansion of gays and trannies into society? Fuck out of here, liberal scum.
Yes, I've never met a gay or transexual person as retarded as you.
The thing about the services is, 90% of all music is controlled by 3 major publishers. If you get a contract with them, you have basically all the music, and there's no reason to bother with the rest. So Google Play Music, Amazon Music Unlimited, and Spotify all have the exact same music (except for like 20 songs that are Amazon exclusive but honestly who gives a shit). Occasionally some niche song appears on GPM that isn't on Amazon, I've noticed, it might be true of Spotify too, but basically they all have the same big slice of music and are missing the same small slice of Songs Many People Actually Know.
So really, it doesn't matter. What matters is the rest of what it offers. GPM's suite of tools is actually pretty shit for managing playlists and the UI, from what I can tell Spotify's is more robust. But GPM lets you upload 50k of your own MP3 files to their servers that you can stream just like their shit to any device you log in on. Amazon used to do something similar for a few extra bucks (and it was for 250k individual files, not 50k) but they killed it late last year.
GPM also lets you edit metadata on all songs you've library'd so you can change tagging, which matters for someone like me who is autistic about library maintenance. I transferred my entire offline collection of music to GPM, including getting all the tags in the format and style I was using, and uploading every album and individual song that wasn't available.
>"what features are missing?
>"I didn't care about features to begin with"
where's the goalpost again?
Here’s an idea. How about using 2 launchers. Or is that requiring too much brain cell?
>old games everyone should have got already years ago from various bundles and sales
I think Tim actually forgot other stores existed, and then Microsoft dabbed on him by getting rights to games and then partnering with Steam.
>game store
>having a social media page
that is not a feature you faggot, I'm not buying a car to play video games with it
Seems you lack braincells to post something other than regurgitated shill-phrases.
stop being a faggot
Please, keep saying that until every single PC game released has it's own fucking launcher, we're already on like nine at this point, not everyone wants to install random fucking trash on their computer like a middle aged woman installs toolbars on their browser.
Reminder that all the massively successful PC games this year came out on Steam. i.e. Mordhau, Risk of Rain 2, Total War Three Kingdoms. Epic had jack shit.
It's superior because it generates more revenue per sale.
Hahaha you caught me I make $.05 per post to make Epic look better on an anonymous Cambodian picture place
>>every game made with Unreal Engine
except Epics own games
THAT DOESNT WORK
>like a middle aged woman installs toolbars on their browser.
What's the matter, can't handle an extra toolbar? What's the big deal lol grow up
if you have a point, you're terrible at making it
but doing exclusives is literally the only way for them to make their way into the market and exist. if they would just start selling games available on steam no one would buy them there, since 'it's more convenient' to buy them on steam where you have everything else. it's neither shady nor evil. it's just the only way. tim could offer everybody no drm and free footjobs and nobody would use another launcher.
they bet all on a year to force themselves on the marker and make it or break it with those exclusives. literally nobody is getting hurt by another launcher except of snowlakes ideaologies
that answers this too + you said gfwl needed an account for offline and that's exactly what steam needs too. you can play it offline but you need an accout
you dont even have a point you colossal faggot, get you life and brain straight
>since 'it's more convenient' to buy them on steam where you have everything else. it's neither shady nor evil. it's just the only way. tim could offer everybody no drm and free footjobs and nobody would use another launcher.
He could make a launcher that was better than Steam.
But that would require effort and he's not capable of it.
Maybe a few employees who aren't overworked to near-death like Epic. Other than that, no, I think everyone hates them. That's a generalization though, you will certainly find a few retards here and there who buy into the marketing drivel, lack critical thinking and actually like Epic.
>Doing exclusives
They could fund the development of exclusives, not just buy timed ones off established developers? They're fucking Epic games, they used to make games.
lmao you sound really mad and also really stupid
I hate epic to the same degree that I hate steam. Anyone that differs is a retard that can't see the forest behind the trees.
I don't think valve needs to do anything epic is damaging themselves enough by trying to bring exclusvies to PC.
If steam was going to counteract and invest in exclusives that would be a losing move.
gayben can literally just sit on his fat ass doing nothing at all like he did in the past 7 years and he will still win
They can buy up a bunch of shit games but that does not change the fact that the games on the Epic Store are very unpopular.

then maybe they shouldn't exist in the market. That's the only rational viewpoint as a consumer. Either make something better or fuck off
I fucking missed the PC conference. Can anybody please give me a TL;DW?
Nothing worth watching.
Shenmue 3 is now EGS exclusive
No features for consumers. No benefit for consumers.
Chivalry 2 and Shenmue 3 EGS exclusive, lots of boring indie trash. A developer told everyone to buy their game on Steam even though it was a heavily sponsored Epic event, lmao.
Okay, cool. Thanks for the info my man.
This, either step up and make a good fucking storefront or don't even bother.
Calling you out shill with one simple question: W H Y
>review scores
those games are actually good
lmao syke
Is the CEO of Tencent a cute Chinese girl? Will she step on my peepee?
>He could make a launcher that was better than Steam.
no he couldn't. steam has something a new launcher could never have. your whole fucking game library.
but please, tell me, what epic or another new company could include in a new laucher to make it better than steam and people to but there? gog is superrior and has no drm. do people use it? no. they have almost no profits from gog other than the wither shit. literally a skeleton crew on that platform
but they ARE funding the development byy paying them for that exclusive. they just buy digital rights for distribution and do it on their platform.
they can't buy studios now and start develoment of new games, because they NEED to put their foot in the market right now, before fortnite dies
Just be aware, it's a dying format. Google hasn't updated it since 2016, they're all-in on YouTube Music instead. Google Play Music is nearing end of life. They've SAID, a bunch of times, that they're migrating the locker and bringing YTM to feature-parity with GPM before they let it die, and that they plan to migrate entire libraries wholesale to the service once it can do everything GPM can do, but it's Google so who knows.
It will be a tragedy if the last major music streaming service with online locker integration dies. It was already a tragedy when Amazon killed theirs.
>Chivalry 2
big kek. they missed their chance already
I like Epic for giving free games every week, some of them were good.
I like Valve for promoting Linux
>t. never bought a digital game on PC
>A developer told everyone to buy their game on Steam even though it was a heavily sponsored Epic event, lmao.
Really? Who and what game was it?
Not everything is, and my real point is that piracy is too complicated for most people to even bother. They'd rather just spend the money and buy it legally because they can afford it and it's so much more convenient and reliable. Also they do it because piracy is so shunned
From a marketing standpoint when your primary demographics of 13-18 are trashing your company that's less of a meme and more of a marketing catastrophe.
>steam has something a new launcher could never have. your whole fucking game library.
I thought it wasn't a hassle to use two launchers? Isn't that the shill talking point, that installing a second launcher for a few games is no big deal?
>but please, tell me, what epic or another new company could include in a new laucher to make it better than steam and people to but there?
Considering they own and operate UE4, going balls-deep on mod support and management would be really cool. They could also do per-game graphics settings and overrides handled through the launcher; it's a big deal for me that Steam's controller rebinder killed the need for everything like XPadder or Joy2Key I've ever had. If Epic's Launcher could kill the need for external shit like Borderless Window or the AMD/NVidia control panel, and provide integrated tools for things like widescreen hacks, mouse fixes, etc., that many games need, that'd be a start. Having an "Epic Gameshark" and letting you use Cheat Engine table management via the launcher would also be neat, I get real irritated having to boot that shit up alongside DMC5 every time because of the Reversals hack or Breaker Switching.
I list this shit because it would increase my convenience around those games. It would eliminate external program use and streamline my play experience. If it also had controller support that was on-par with Steam's (including Steam Controller support) I'd probably migrate my library in such a way that the EGS launched my existing Steam games (backgrounding Steam, sort of like how Steam does with UPlay) just to have all that shit managed directly from the launcher.
But it's much easier to just throw cash directly at publishers and try to force me to use it, amirite?

You forgot
>The man eating shark game that totally didnt rip off a miniclip flash game and two movies
except for taking 5% of their revenue, regardless of which platform they are made on or if it is game sales or dlc
Your perspective is so fucking self centered guy
The number one feature a launcher can have is a library of games. They need to bolster their library and they have the capital to achieve this. Why wouldn't they do what they're doing? If they didn't they'd be stuck in eternal irrelevance
More ideas:
advanced library and store sorting and filtering. Steam lets me categorize everything into exactly ONE group, and sorts alphabetically. It could be infinitely better, Rockbox spoiled me on that. What about a game library tagging system that lets me group games and filter them arbitrarily? Sort games alphabetically by franchise name, then chronologically within the franchise. Let me log in with the intent of playing something that I haven't played in a while, so I filter my own library by "Grand Strategy", then sort in reverse by number of hours of game time.
Those sorts of features would be cool as shit. It would be an enticement to use Epic's launcher to MANAGE my Steam-launched games (just as I now use Steam to manage all my games) and from there it'd be an easy step to buying other games directly from them, and maybe even double-dipping to get the games native if I see them at a steep discount in a seasonal sale or something.
But again, this is Epic, the company that can't manage to implement a fucking shopping cart. Expecting them to compete on any front other than "look how much Fortnite cash we can wave around" is pure fantasy.
>The number one feature a launcher can have is a library of games
No, the number one feature a STORE can have is a library of games. A launcher needs to be good at launching them (AKA managing the end-user's library of titles).
A good launcher encourages me to buy things on the store attached to the launcher. If the launcher sucks, then I either don't buy games that require it, or begrudgingly allow it to run in the background for specific games while I play (and therefore shop) from my primary launcher of choice.
>I thought it wasn't a hassle to use two launchers? Isn't that the shill talking point, that installing a second launcher for a few games is no big deal?
yes, that is MY stance on the subject, but from all those threads everywhere it's clear that it's some kind of torture for everyone else.
i just want people to realize one simple thing:
the game is the product. not the fucking shop or launcher, minority stake in a company or size of somebodies stomach.
i don't agree with your second point and think it actually would be bad, same like all that addional shit in steam is. i don't want some stupid steaming, social network, controllers, big pictures etc. it's bloat that nobody uses. i just want the game to launch and update with no problem.
>The number one feature a launcher can have is a library of games
Remind me again, how many games does Epic have on its store?
>All these """exclusive""" games will be out on steam in less than 6 months
those are ideas how to manage your big game library.
that won't make you buy and install the first game there
everyone is a shill who doesn't agree with this circlejerking valve drone cesspool
I wasted hours of my life defending epic but gave up because it is just impossible to go against this wave of extreme and blind corporate fanboysism
then buy games on GOG
I got more ideas:
Letting me re-sell games. Steam doesn't do this. Create a second-hand used market for keys, letting me resell my old played games to people sort of like G2A. That'd be a HUGE fucking deal to a fuckload of people. Steam only lets you trade bullshit like cards and hats, let me trade the actual games in. With Gamestop on death's door that's a totally untapped market in the digital space and it could be done. It wouldn't be easy to prevent fraud, but if you could pull it off you'd have a big fucking chunk of people clamoring to buy games from you just because they could resell them down the line to one another.
Better sharing protocols too; the Steam family thing is really funky because any time a shared player is online their entire library (not just the game they are playing) goes unavailable; if I could buy a copy of a game and "share" it with another computer such that either one could play it freely as long as both didn't try to boot the same key at the same time, that'd be a big enticement to people who have more than one PC player in the house (like I do).
Making me want to use your program to manage my library is how you get me to buy shit from your library.
iPods didn't exclusively play music available on iTunes, but getting people to use iTunes to manage their music collection generated a fuckload of sales anyway.
Thats because you literally can't defend epic on any ground besides revenue cut. Thats the only positive, and its only for publishers. No positives for us the players.
I've got a better idea.
For every hour of play, companies would pay us 1$ from their own pocket. There is a huge market. People play for fun and how awesome it would be if they could make money by doing that too.
>tfw get to play as a Todd Howard look a like
>tfw get to shoot up a mosque
iPods were subpar music players that were popular only because of the brand loyalty of their userbase.
Kinda ironic that you post about it when be debate Valve
>the game is the product. not the fucking shop or launcher
Not for Tim Sweeney. For him, the launcher is the product, that's what he's selling you.
Honestly the "it's just two launchers lol" argument is the worst shill effort ever because if it's true, he's already lost. He's spending millions of dollars to secure exclusives that can never hope to recoup the investment; the gambit is that he can get you to install his program with these exclusives, and then generate revenue.
All anyone uses the EGS for is the exclusives and the free shit; nobody is buying anything there that he didn't moneyhat or give away for free. They use it where they absolutely have to, and then do the rest of their shopping on Steam, because Steam is their program of choice.
He's bleeding cash reserves to get you through the door but the launcher is shit and he won't fix it, so what's the enticement to STAY? After all, it's just a second launcher, there's no hassle switching back to Steam when you're done using it for the shit that requires it. Nobody is sticking around because they love the UX and buying shit at full price from ol Timmy.
If Tim Sweeney paid every end user $1 for every hour they used EGS it'd still probably come out cheaper than the amount he's pissed away on securing exclusives this year.
also, looking at it from different perspective. You are right.
iTunes got popular, because it was the only way to manage your iPods music collection and the only player on Macs.
Nobody would use it without it.
Kinda like Epic needs to do with game exclusives to make people invest in their store.
Can someone redpill me on Epic?
It's a case in point about how getting people to use library software with a store attached is more important for generating sales than how much shit you have available on the store itself.
No, I think not.
literally this
>Not for Tim Sweeney. For him, the launcher is the product, that's what he's selling you.
well of course. he needs to sell it to you. i'm speaking from the customers perspective. i want to buy the game, not the launcher. it's just the way to get it.
my point is: if some kind of store chain has an exclusive deal with a soda brand that only they sell it i either buy it there or not. i'm not going to start a revolution calling them fasists and evil and try to ruin not only the store but the soda maker. it's business
no, it's a case in point where you should want to buy THE GAME with a launcher attached to it. as i said in another post. you either do or don't like an adult. not start propaganda and try to burn everything down
>Go to the store that's decently well kept, buy what you need and gladly leave
or
>Go to the broken down, shitty store full of shady gooks trying to swipe your credit card info, only because they have that specific product you're looking for.
Gee, I wonder why I'm fucking annoyed? It's a goddamn mystery, you fucking retard.
oh no then i'll have to use steam 2.0
>games will be out on steam in less than 6 months
This is why Epic is pathetic, I need only wait (or pirate).
Long time ago, before Steam was a thing, Timmy Tencent and Gay Ben had some rivalry on the PC market. But then consoles got their shit together and publishers were very worried about piracy on PC. Timmy abandoned the PC and went to develop games only for consoles. But Ben decided to burn some fat and power his brain and so he created Steam. PC gaming started flourishing again and people were happy. Move forward some years to the Anno Domini 2018. Fortnite cancer has infested the whole community and Timmy is draining the life force. China wants some of this as well so they inject themselves into Timmy's company (Epic). Jimmy was jealous that his old rival Ben not only survived, but became a literal Jesus Christ of PC gaming. So Timmy decided to use the Fortnite bucks to launch his revenge and set up Epic Games Store, which from the looks of it was made by some high school pajeets found on Craigslist. Timmy had some experience from the years spent on consoles so he decided that the best weapon to fight Ben was to buy up Exclusive deals for games on PC, which was unheard of on this platform. Naturally, people are furious and wish him death s well as the chinese overlords that are behind him. Timmy sees that people are unhappy and his store i soutdated by at least 20 years, so he decides to buy even more exclusives.
And that's the current situation
I can't wait for all of you fucking faggots to get your most anticipated game locked as an exclusive to the epic game store. It's only a matter of time, bitches.
I only like Single Player so I can just pirate it.
Seethe harder, shill
its just a shitty store and instead of using the money to make it better they just use it to strong arm exclusives.
