I've had several disconnects in Splatoon despite being connected through ethernet and ethernet adapters are bugged since the 5.0 update so that some Switches constantly draw too much power during sleep if you have an ethernet adapter plugged in because they're searching for updates non-stop, making it constantly warm to the touch.

Some men dont have time for worrying about such a small expense for playing with their friends.

switch hacking is fairly easy, i was thinking in that scope, you can just install the game and updates that are widely seeded online. the switch also has an official feature that you can copy updates from someone else's switch, so without homebrew you'd only have to find someone else that plays the game.
