Why the FUCK can't this be on PS4? Give me one good reason.

Not cinematic.
Its not a walking movie simulator
Because then we would be putting CRPGs on consoles where they dont belong, and us we'd be opening their game up to Basednys faggot agenda
Does not cap at 24 fps.
Because it's RPG.
It is a good game
I actually agree. It's like they don't want money.
Why would you want a CRPG on a console? They're fucking terrible without a mouse.
>Chris Avellone
Did you think he can writing another great character ? Like Kreia or Ulysses. Honestly, Nok-Nok, Durance and Fane just bad writing.
You can't read a novel on a TV screen.
Because D&D games on consoles have only ever been cult classics.
Larian would probably focus on Linux support sooner than porting it to console desu. Hell Hasbro/WoTC may already have some cheap port dev lined up for that job.
You are the first person I've ever seen who considered Ulysses a great character.
it might be. 2 years later
>Nok-Nok
Hey fuck you, Nok-Nok was the only decent character in the entire fucking game.
It will. Swen from Larian accidentally said it's coming to consoles during an interview
don't worry my console friend, it will. larian's original sin 1 and 2 are there so in the future you'll play it. I don't have a ps4 right now and have to wait for the pc port of trails of cold steel 3
because a. they'd have to shit up the control scheme so console babies don't have an aneurism trying to play it and b. fuck console plebs anyway: only walking sims and censored nip games for you
It's a good game
>CRPG
It's coming to Stadia though
Plunging necklines on certain female outfits.
It has boobs in it
don't want to censor it.
The C in CRPG doesn't stand for console, zoomer.
How can your understanding of literature be so terrible that you consider Durance bad writing, and Ulysses good?
Real time with pause indeed
Sony is putting retarded constraints on anyone that develops a game for their platforms so why should dev teams bother?
Home consoles are fucking dead lmao
>CRPG
I doubt it. This look like a expensive inversion from wotc and hiring +100 studio (for a total 300? I think?) makes clearly. It will be a triple AAA game, not some isometric niche traditional rpg game.
> Brags about "amazing" exclusives
> REEEEEE Port this PC game to PS4!!!!
The absolute state of Snoyboys.
Enjoy your censored anime dating sims and Western AAA trash.
it is coming out on PS4 and Xbox.
he isnt working on BG3
>Still one hour left of the PC gaming show at E3
god fucking dammit I just wanted to see if they'd show literally ANY thing new
why would a sonychad want to read a generic shitty fantasy story on his TV when he could just play a good video game instead?
Seriously CRPG's are for either degenerate NEETS or faggot ass hipsters that want attention
do you think they might show a little more BG3?
lmao
god of war is trash compared to BG series
they won't, they'll just repeat the info we already know and won't talk about anything else
Swen already said no new info will be revealed at E3.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Nice cope.
> I- I- I didn't want to play it anyway. It must be shit and irrelevant if it's not on the best platform, Playstation. R-right bros???
Keep seething as you play your shitty turn based japanese grinding simulators.
>degenerate faggot NEETS
that's the audience
> CRPG's are for either degenerate NEETS or faggot ass hipsters that want attention
The I guess they would fit perfectly with the PS4 audience.
Real RPGs are not for console, that's why the inferior subgenre that is JRPG was made.
> Only tattoo is Bloodborne
> Because that's the only PS4 game worth playing
The absolute state
K
I didn't like Durance, but Nok-Nok was good.
Literally who?
No one plays or cares about your irrelevant weebshit
No it doesn't.
Is this bait? Wizardry was literally released on Apple II, based retard
stop samefagging, i gave you two yous, thats all you get faggot
Was he? I wasn't keen on having a goblin in the party, especially not an honest-to-God Pathfinder goblin.
His story was well written and very goblin-like, without it being overbearing. Unrelated, he was also statted like a fucking powergamer character too, one of the few characters you get that doesn't need to be tweaked while still being useful.
I think user's referring to the fact that it got ported to console despite being an RPG. A few old RPGs did, actually, like Eye of the Beholder.
at some point they probably will
more important question though
why would you play it on a ps4?
>still waiting Viconia confirmed
Aw man that's disappointing.
why the fuck are they making a BG3 though? game was already wrapped up in ToB
I hope to god you're wrong because I'd be super bummed if you're right.
Because they want it to be good.
Not a direct sequel, just includes the city of Baldur's Gate. And also because the title sells.
You might be waiting a while, user. She died after Throne of Bhaal in the Bhaalspawn's arms, and he declared a crusade to exterminate the drow (with the help of his half-drow son) to avenge her.
what makes you think it won't?
Larian not only "did the impossible" by porting Divinity OS1 and 2 to consoles...they also made them split screen couch co-op.
With BG 1 and 2 being announced for consoles, I would BET MONEY that BG3 follows the same pattern and is released to consoles ~1year after the PC release.
>inb4 the game turns into being more arcadey than Dark Alliance
i would unironically be alright with this over 5e ruleset.
They will destroy the character. Besides Viconia dies at the end of Baldur's Gate II.
yeah, really would like them to remove the 3 and put a subtitle
But it will be you fucking moron, they just can't develop for all of the platforms at the same time
It will have the same gameplay as Divine Divinity.
>Larian: Baldur's Gate 3
>Beamdog: Baldur's Gate: New Athkatla
>Larian: Baldur's Gate 4
>Larian: Baldur's Gate 76
How were the Dark Alliance games? I never really played them. I did enjoy playing Champions of Norrath at a friend's house, but when I got my own copy, apparently it didn't want to play nice on my PS2.
Why would you want her back if you liked her in the original series? The writers who created her and made her what she was won't be on this project. I would really prefer they leave the original series alone as much as possible, and leave what happened to your PC and party up to your imagination. It would be great if the only character they force in for nostalgia pandering is Minsc, who is virtually guaranteed.
would play all of those except Baldur's Gate 76
twf instaled edwin romance mod just to ged good ending with Viconia
I just hope it's not a turnbased borefest like OS
Oh shit, here we go
DA 1 was released very early on in the ps2 development cycle and looks quite good. plays kinda like an aRPG, but not very long. only have three preset characters to play as. BG 2 is more of the same with qol changes, 5 preset characters to play as.
Yes, yes, I know Viconia plot. But as you know, faith does not require proof.
Your mods aren't canon. Viconia was meant to be a doomed, tragic romance, which is fitting for a Drow.
Since I always romance Saerileth I never think of trying Edwin Romance. Can you tell me something about it?
That would make Beamdog the good one which is total bullshit.
It will be, you'll even have the time to play the first two
I think one of the big reasons is the problems with updates. CRPG games tend to need a few patches and the system in place to update ps4 games and xbox games is really complex and costs money.
i did install the mod just for the ending so i don't know how the Edwin romance is
I wonder if we can expect Witcher 3 level of graphics
I hope you can name your party and not only your character.
You're such a cringelord, op is falsefagging hard, no one cares about this garbage
PC games show just confirmed both turnbased and 5e.
There goes any hype I had left
Pre or post downgrade? Shitter 3 looked like terrible.
>And also because the title sells.
im pretty sure the vast majority of gamers today have never heard of baldurs gate before.
Still levels above that what OS2 looks
Proofs?
>turnbased
YES!!1
Never played, but heard probably
It can't handle it
Can't play rtwp games on console.
Appealing to old fans is a perfectly valid strategy.
Nice.
Ps4 can't run it
modified 5e
he did say something about setting a chair on fire and hitting someone with it so it'll at the very least have some OS style environment interactivity added ontop
didn't he leak on an interview that it will come to consoles?
they didnt confirm nor deny turnbased tho.
dragon age origins? pillars of eternity? it's shit but it''s there
>Tavern Brawler feat
That'd actually be fun to see.
they didn't retard stop lying
>rtwp
It's more like Skyrim or DAI
Better fucking not be rtwp
Wizardry is the definition of a CRPG
It's made by larian. They will release it on PC first, then spend a year porting it to console and making improvements as which they will release as a free PC update
the first time I played baldursgate was actually on a ps2 or xbox I guess. And I always thought it was a ps2 game. Or that was something entire different, but I remember I went with a friend into a basement and we killed some dogs and some huge failed experiment thing.
Yes
what's so special about D&D
can you just come up with your own numbers
I think my install is broken guys?
>they will release as a free PC update
that's not up to larian anymore
>weeb
look at this guy....
>perfectly valid strategy.
at a business standpoint? not really.
plus, old fans already got shit on with Siege of Dragonspear.
Because it's an actual game
It's not a cinematic walking sim and would be censored.
Holy shit, just found out this game is being developed by the team who made Divinity, not bioware
Now I'm hyped
correct, the acronym for "console RPG" is JRPG
I dont get it either. D&D rules in pc games are dumb if you ask me. Confusing THAC0 / AC rules and modifiers, seemingly arbitrary restrictions and hidden dice rolls and numbers that only makes sense for a tabletop game where you actually see and roll the dice.
Well go fix the assertion in line 1569 in InfScreenSave.cpp, brainlet.
>5th edition
>Day 9: How do you translate some of the absurd things players want to do into *you know* what has to be a structured computer game
>Swen: So we started with the player's handbook and basic ruleset-
>D9: (interrupting) And which ruleset is tha-?
>S: Ah, 5th Edition
>D9: Yeah
>S: 5th Edition
speaking of dark alliance can you enchant weapons like that in the original PC games?
I always liked going with flails with fire & wanted to do the same in the first baldur's gate?
so? you fucking retard
BG1 and 2 use 2nd edition D&D. Yet they're not turn-based games.
Icewind Dale 2 uses 3E D&D, yet it's not a turn-based game.
NWN2-MotB uses 3.5 D&D, yet it's not a turn-based game.
Pathginder Kingmaker uses Pathfinder 1E/D&D 3.75E, yet it's not a turn-based game
see the fucking pattern here?
plus it's already been said that it's a Triple-A -scope project, which makes turn-based AND isometric very unlikely. And Swen already said "missing isnt very fun" and that they "changed the mechanics to fit their game".
>at a business standpoint? not really.
Appealing to old fans is literally the reason why CRPGs were revived with kickstarter campaigns for DOS, Pillars, Wasteland 2 etc.
I wasn't that user who claimed turned based I was just transcribing what was said to confirm 5e.
OK? Everyone already assumed 5th edition, where's the proof of it being turn-based?
I'm not sure what they did in Dark Alliance, but in Baldur's Gate, enchanting weapons only really became a thing in the sequel, and usually, it was a matter of enhancing an already magical weapon into something a little closer to artifact-tier.
Did they announce anything during the PC game show? I couldn't watch it
Bunch of minor shit no one cares about, they showed like 15 seconds of VTMB2 footage.
no
for DA2 you could buy runes/gems and insert them into your equipment stuff like stat bonuses, changing weapon properties, etc. very very similar to diablo 2. just no runewords or anything of that sort.
I was talking about bg3 specifically (obviously) but thanks.
Vermintide Versus? Do they mean like L4D versus, where one team plays specials and the other team completes the maps? That might be fun.
Sony doesnt want games that arent third person action games.
I see. Socketing wasn't really a thing in the original games, no.
Who the hell is the drow/orc guy?
EE characters
no they didn't
just the same buzzwords "IMMERSIVE" "DEEPER" "GRAND STORY" "BETTER" "BIGGER". literally nothing.
EE character
Beamdog OC Dorn and Bealoth
Dorn's a faggot but Bealoth is a cool dude.
Alright, thanks mate.
Yep
youtube.com
Chaos dudes too and most likely beastmen when the expansion comes out.
Dorn is useful because he has a gorillion strength and can carry shit.
I didn't say he wasn't a useful faggot, all I said was he's a faggot, which is a fact.
Poison was op before the nerf too
Man I hope this game doesn't have checklist diversity.
Like faggots, I really hate fucking faggots.
It's not beamdog so cross fingers.
It will have lgb for sure
who say it wont come on ps4?
Based not retard, thank you.
pic relate
>Real RPGs are not for console
I already replied to the one person who knew what I was saying but I just wanted to call you stupid anyway.
Don't you pick your own theme?
It should be pointed out that turn based 5e is sort of a terrible idea. The dnd engine tends to create a lot of missed attacks compared to game systems actually designed for turn-based.
Missing in actual tabletop is fine since you don't have as much combat (1-2 combat instances in a session) and the miss/hit mechanics acts as delayed gratification. The same doesn't apply for clicking through 6 party member's actions and then watching a bunch of monsters acting.
Furthermore, the traditional 6 man party is probably a bit too big for turn-based combat. It forces bigger encounters, which works in something like FFT, but not if you are supposed to hit BG:s 9 combat encounters per map design.
I would also note that a majority of the reason "slow" combat is fine in TTRPGs is that it's a social event. The majority of the game involves describing your actions and playing off of other people to have a good time, 2 things inherently absent in a CRPG.
then
Hexxat will make a cameo.
>imoen bg1 to bg2
>smile and optimism gone
so cute
it's just me, Imoen!
Also, the CRPG games tend to inflate encounter difficulty since they know the player wants to be challenged, while at a tabletop the GM usually keeps the encounters more tailored for party structure. Practically speaking, this means that you tend to fail attacks more often in the tabletop.
>hey
She should have an updated happy portrait in ToB now that she is romancing her onii-chan.
>Give me one good reason.
Controlling crpgs with a gamepad is very janky and I don't think most people have mouse+keyboard that they want to plug in for their ps4s, but I could be wrong.
To make rpgs for console you have to remove a lot of the game to make them accessible enough for the poor controls of the gamepad.
Eh, i'd say that is less of a thing than you might think. TTRPGs range greatly in difficulty, and reminder that BG has difficulty settings.
Sure, everyone should play on Core Rules, but it's not even the default.
>make them accessible
They will.
TTRPG:s tend to range in difficullty (by the way I wrote it wrong. You fail more often in the CRPG I mean to say), but as a general rule of thumb, your GM is not actively trying to kill you since its a chore to replace a dead player character. CRPG:s with saving and reloading doesn't have this problem. That why your character will die from stupid shit a lot more in the CRPG.
I've GM:ed games for ten years, I know how GM.s think.
I honestly will just be mad to see how they treat
Viconia died tragically and I went on to raise our son.
As bad as forgottean realms has become since 4th edition, at least I can ignore the "canon" bhaalspawn saga from some shitty novel where abdel adrian chose jaheria and went mortal, then bhaal returned anyway, now with baldurs gate 3 they'll have all these bg1-2 characters they can use to market their games and pull on peoples nostalgia, but they'll just ruin their memory.
Final Fantasy X-2 but worse incoming
>I've GM:ed games for ten years, I know how GM.s think.
user, as a fa/tg/uy, 11+ year DM and 23+ year player, of wildly differing game styles, rulesets, and groups, your experience is not the only one to exist.
Not every game is a long, story/character driven campaign, nor is every game a character mulching dungeon crawl, but they are both valid game archetypes.
And, as noted, CRPGs quite often include difficulty settings, many of which amount to the inability to fail outside of extraordinary circumstances. aka Story mode.
Surely you aren't jelly because of a DnD game made by fucking larian, are you?
When discussing with combat system you are going to use, I don't think its valid to include game journo mode into the equation.
Anyway, if an ordinary tabletop campaign had the same rate of attriation as core BG1, you'd be looking at replacing 1-2 characters per session. Doable in a meatgrinder campaign, but not the standard.
They won't acknowledge any of the endings of BG2 and we can only hope they don't bring back Viconia who as much I loved the character, had proper closure in the previous game and doesn't need to make a comeback for nostalgia points.
The only returnee should be Xan.
He should be your first party member and all he does is whine.
He doesn't acknowledge the Bhaalspawn, having apparently forgotten the whole deal after getting clubbed in the head by an orc he tried to engage with his sword.
>had the same rate of attriation as core BG1, you'd be looking at replacing 1-2 characters per session. Doable in a meatgrinder campaign, but not the standard.
I'm not sure, I think the virtue of it being a video game and a handy save being there makes people careless, while in tabletop you take greater care of your character and overprepare for all sorts of engagement, in a video game you just go in and try it.
Tried a hardcore run on icewind dale after not playing it for years, on EEs hardest difficulty which made me take double damage or something like that.
Just knowing that I was playing hardcore, made me much more careful.
...well now when I think about it I think I was on the 5-8 "session" equivalent in my icewind dale hardcore run before I died, only 4 died but it was basically a tkp since I quit, so that could on average be 1 per session.
Icewind dale is a bit rougher than baldurs gate though.
>and doesn't need to make a comeback for nostalgia points.
I don't think they'll be able to resist the opportunity sadly.
Because if they could they wouldn't call this game Baldurs Gate 3.
I hope though, that they stay away from viconia and the other 3 romancable characters. So you can almost pretend that your game was canon and they don't come in there and shit on your dreams.
And I suppose you had at least some idea how the encounters looked before you started playing as well, or?
If you go into BG1 completely blind, you are gonna get blindsided by a lot of bullshit unless you are super careful about scouting ahead with a thief all the time (and even then its tough, since you don't know what spells the spellcasters got).
Best mod. Saerileth is a close second, but this one takes the cake.
>And I suppose you had at least some idea how the encounters looked before you started playing as well, or?
I remembered there being undead in the crypts.
I had no idea where there were traps, just that there were traps.
It's fairly straight forward with what you're coming up against.
And baldurs gate doesn't throw hordes of enemies at you like iwd does.
>If you go into BG1 completely blind, you are gonna get blindsided by a lot of bullshit unless you are super careful about scouting ahead with a thief all the time (and even then its tough, since you don't know what spells the spellcasters got).
I think you're ignoring the original point about the difference between a video game and a tabletop game.
If you go in blind and think about what happens in baldurs gate as a video game and you have your reliable save, yes you're gonna get blindsided because you don't plan your moves, you might as well run straight into the unknown forest and get eaten by a bear and say "oh fucking bullshit, I died when i tried to fight this bear at lvl with my quarterstaff".
In tabletop, you don't have the option to load, so your approach is different. Apply that approach to baldurs gate and you won't suffer 1-2 deaths per session equivalent.
There's less than 1-2 deaths per session equivalents in icewind dale, and there should be even less in baldurs gate.
