I find it boring, because I was struggling to remember all possible synergies by heart. But once you pass the high learning curve, the game becomes highly addicting. Plus the e-penis you can slap to your friends face due the ranking system.

This. If anything this upcoming "autochess" war is going to be fought on two fronts.
From the looks of it League and Dota 2 will have the pc market on lock because their existing playerbases will supplement the game.

However the mobile front is going to be interesting. It's mostly chink ripoffs with Drodo, the origin developers, somewhat on the forefront. Then it looks like Valve is going to send out their mobile version as well probably during TI9 in front of the chink market in Shanghai.

Valve isn't making mobile version, they already had a talk with the developers back when valve flew them over to try to hire them, and they decided that they will develop for pc while the original devs will make a mobile game.

I hypothesize that it's because DOTA has so many players and a huge percentage of them feel disenfranchised with the game becoming more and more like its competitors with every passing year and Auto Chess was just a different way to enjoy a game they've got Stockholm syndrome for.
