Thank god for Technician singlehandedly elevating him from a cool-looking shitmon to an amazing pokemon. I don't think a non-weather ability change has ever done more for a pokemon

It wasn’t just technician, it was also bullet punch and the vastly expanded list of not shit STABs and utility options like iron head, superpower, roost, u-turn, x-scissor, etc. Before gen 4 scizor’s best STABs were steel wing and fucking HP bug.

If you want to talk pokemon that went from literally nothing to high tier with one ability, azumarill would be up there

I used to play this one pokemon flash game (maybe on their official site or something, it was for a movie) where you had to click scizor and he would be yelling "SCIZOOOOOR" over and over so much that the audio would clip over itself I would play this dumb scizor clicking game for very long stretches good times thank you for reminding me OP

I don't like how lorewise Scizor loses its ability to fly and is only able to dash fast.

Scyther could at least fly. feels like a downgrade to me, despite everything else looking cool.

That’s kinda the point though. Scyther and Scizor’s BST doesn’t change through evolution, so it’s more up to preference

With the loss of flights, its more like a lukewarm trade off. Being able to fly is pretty huge imho.

A little overdesigned but most bug types are these days. Pretty good for the period of time it came out.

Most based pokemon to ever exist. Literally being held back by its lack of good moves in Gens 2 and 3, and the second its sexy, chrome-finished, oiled and polished pinciers got themselves Bullet Punch fucker became the massive force that to this day battles in practically every releveant tier thanks to it's evolution. Scizor battles against even gods and he is up to the par with and without mega stones.

What a massive legend. Anyone knows if he's as good in the TCG?

This. Pokken has some of the best interpretations for its Pokemon case compared to any other game.

It's gotten better over the past few gens. GSC did give you Heracross fairly early on and if you have the patience of a saint you can find a wild Magnemite with Metal Coat and get Scizor early on too (or just consume a Metal Coat from another file). BW has quite a number of decent bug types available in the main game (Scolipede, Galvantula, Leavanny, Accelgor). Durant is also an option in BW if you can wait until Victory Road, but was shoved to post-game areas in BW2. Ribombee, Araquanid, and Golisopod are more than usable, but this involves playing gen 7.

Gens 1, 3, 4, and 6 are shit outta luck.

I prefer Scyther's design and it loses best gen 2 bug title to Heracross, but it's still a dope ass motherfucker.

Ninjask was replaced the second Speed Boost Scolipede became a thing. It's a bit bulkier and it's typing is less dogshit.

Bummer. I am also checking that at some point in time Smogon banned Baton Pass AND evasion moves. And they still have the audacity to not enforce an item clause. What a bunch of pussies.

Baton pass is an almost unbeatable strategy in the hands of a good player.

why didnt scizor had a movie back in the day? he was clearly a favorite of many and is a much better concept than lucario.
